Kaiden didn't say anything.
Aria, groggy but lucid, shifted in her bed as she looked at the purple-haired girl. "You weren't a kill-chaser, Luna. That's not what happened. Stop trying to make it sound like your greed ruined everything."
Luna looked over sharply. "Don't defend me. I got careless."
"No," Aria replied firmly. "You went for the vampire. So did I, the other one. I just failed to shoot her down before she landed on you, which in turn forced Nyx to act."
There was a long pause.
"You didn't fail anything," Luna said bitterly. "I was faster. I should've covered myself better. Nyx shouldn't have needed to throw herself between me and a monster just to keep me breathing."
Aria clenched her fingers weakly. "And if I hadn't missed that shot, she wouldn't have had to. That's on me."
"No. You're both wrong." Another voice cut in.
