Milo waited for the next line so intently that he forgot Ben still had hold of his sleeve.
He had reached the settlement. Taigi had shaken his hand, a Skyfiend had carried him over the cavern, and somewhere beyond these trees were houses he might be allowed to live in.
The dungeon could still send him back.
Beside him, Ben's grip tightened. Milo wanted to tell him it would be alright, but he was afraid that if he opened his mouth, he would ask Mrs. Weller the same thing.

The words came out breathlessly. Milo read the notification again, desperate to make certain he had understood, then turned to Ben.
"It says I'm eligible!"
"Me too!"
Ben released his sleeve to grab his shoulder instead, grinning so hard that Milo began grinning back. The relief was enormous. All the way here, he had been trying to imagine how he would bear leaving if the dungeon refused him.
Now it wanted him.
