Chapter 55 - Chapter 55

[Ding! Elite Trainer Kit has successfully synced with Charmander's data! Generating specialized training items and modules!]

[Training Item – Blazing Furnace: Allows Charmander to meditate daily, gaining massive EXP. Usable until Level 60!]

[Training Field – Frostflow Domain: Allows Charmander to train resistance, improving endurance against type disadvantages. Max resistance bonus: +50%!]

[Training Field – Valley of Dragonfire: Fire-type move training zone. Max power bonus: +50%!]

Kazuki scanned the system interface—each training module had a circular slot behind it.

So all he had to do was insert Charmander's Poké Ball into the slot and Charmander would be transported into a virtual training realm. No need to physically travel anywhere.

This training setup… was incredibly comprehensive.

In terms of EXP, Charmander was currently the lowest-leveled member of the team.

And with Vermilion City coming up—being a coastal area crawling with Water-type Pokémon—leveling up was going to be tough for a Fire-type.

But now, with the Blazing Furnace in play, he had a way for Charmander to catch up and quickly rise to a main combat role.

The other two training fields were the perfect complement—one defensive, one offensive. If all the modules were completed, Kazuki was confident even the king of Charicific Valley wouldn't stand a chance.

Without hesitation, Kazuki slotted Charmander's Poké Ball into the Blazing Furnace. Time to begin.

As soon as it was inserted, a one-hour countdown appeared on-screen.

Oh! Only an hour a day?

He'd expected it to take up much more time. That meant Charmander could still pop out and get fresh air afterwards. Not bad.

With Charmander's training all sorted, Kazuki let out a long, satisfied stretch.

After putting Damian in his place, he hadn't realized Misty—who was humming ahead—had been waiting for him to catch up.

Not having Kazuki's arm to cling to or his sleeve to tug on felt a bit… wrong.

So, with a playful bounce in her step, Misty spun around and teased, "What are you grinning about back there?"

"You're walking so slow! Don't tell me you're still thinking about Officer Jenny's smile!"

"I mean, really! You've got the number-one most beautiful girl in the world right here beside you, and you're still not satisfied?"

Kazuki knew exactly what was coming next—and couldn't resist poking fun.

"I'll compare you to Officer Jenny when you can fill out her lace-trimmed lingerie."

"Lace—what?!" Misty's cheeks turned bright red. "Ugh! Shut up! I—I just like cute styles, okay?!"

"And lace… I could totally rock lace if I wanted to!"

"No no no," Kazuki waved a finger smugly. "I support all styles equally! I love them all. The key is whether the girl can pull it off."

"Huh? So you like my style too, huh?! Of course I can—wait…"

Misty froze mid-laugh, suddenly realizing what he was implying.

"Wait a sec… are you saying I'm flat-chested?!"

Her voice pitched up in indignation.

"I never said that! I'm out of here! There's probably a Pokémon horde up ahead—I'm going to check it out!" Kazuki bolted past her in a flash.

"HEY! KAZUKI!" Misty stomped her foot hard. "Get back here!!"

And just like that, the two of them bickered and bantered as they continued their journey, leveling up along the way.

Now that their Pokémon were stronger, they'd moved on from Caterpie-level mobs to more serious opponents—Beedrill and higher. Both their teams were leveling up fast.

[Pokémon: Pikachu – Lv.25 → Lv.28]

[Pokémon: Pidgeotto – Lv.32 → Lv.33]

[Pokémon: Butterfree – Lv.20 → Lv.22]

[Pokémon: Clefairy – Lv.28 → Lv.29]

[Pokémon: Bulbasaur – Lv.25 → Lv.27]

Thanks to the Special Grade EXP Boost Potion, Pikachu had skyrocketed in level.

Kazuki also made sure Pikachu got more fights in than the others—after all, Vermilion Gym was up next, and Pikachu was going to be the MVP.

Pidgeotto, already at the Elite tier, required much more EXP per level, so it only gained one level.

Butterfree mostly supported battles with Stun Spore and Sleep Powder to leech EXP, so it was a bit slower.

As for Clefairy… it wasn't very good at group battles, so Kazuki mostly had it tag along with Pikachu, letting the electric mouse take the spotlight.

Clefairy wasn't part of his core team plan anyway—it was just there to show off its rarity.

Meanwhile, Charmander was deep in his training. After finishing meditation in the Blazing Furnace, Kazuki had him rotate through the offense and defense modules instead of tagging along to battle.

Still, with the Furnace, his growth was impressive.

[Pokémon: Charmander – Lv.10 → Lv.14]

During their grind, Kazuki also kept a keen eye out—for the last of the three starters: Squirtle.

After Charmander's storyline, Kazuki had realized not every encounter would follow the script.

For most Pokémon, that was fine.

But not the starters—Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur—those were different. There were missions tied to them.

Even if there weren't, Kazuki would still go out of his way to catch them.

After all, the starters weren't chosen lightly by research labs—they were handpicked as optimal beginner Pokémon.

Their high baseline stats meant they often showed up in the final matches of major tournaments.

Even without hijacking Ash's script, Kazuki would've carefully selected a starter to raise.

But come on—Pikachu zapped Arceus into submission. There's no competition. Pikachu gets first priority.

Still, he'd catch the others along the way to complete his Perfect Starter Mission.

The only problem?

That gang of Squirtles was way too good at hiding. They'd been traveling a while now, and there still wasn't a sign of those "bandits."

As their supplies ran low, Kazuki and Misty began heading toward the nearest town to restock.

But just as they were walking—

Kazuki's Aura Power detected something… unusual.
