Suddenly, Alex's eyes open, glowing with the same blue-white light as the other Avatars. Energy pulses around him, and the air crackles with power. He has entered the Avatar State for the first time, his spirit connected to all living things and all four elements.
The moment Alex enters the Avatar State, the air around him shimmers, and the past Avatars appear, surrounding him in a circle. Wan, Aang, Kyoshi, Roku, Yangchen,and Kuruk all stand there proudly, their own Avatar States active, energy swirling around them.
(Welcome, young Avatar.) Roku's voice booms with pride. (You have achieved what many trained for years to find.) Aang smiles warmly. (You did it, Alex.)
Outside the meditation, Gwen and Felicia exchange wide-eyed looks as they feel the surge of energy radiating from the training room. Jason and Ash perk up from their naps, sensing the power shift.
Alex floats gently off the ground, arms outstretched, his glowing eyes taking in the circle of past Avatars. For a brief moment, he feels infinite, connected to everything.
*Pop*.
The Avatar State fizzles out as quickly as it came. Alex's eyes stop glowing, and he collapses bonelessly onto the ground, completely drained.
The past Avatars vanish as Alex falls, looking concerned. Kuruk's voice is the last to echo in his mind. (That's normal, kid. First time is always overwhelming. You did good.)
Gwen and Felicia burst into the room immediately, Jason and Ash trailing behind them. "Alex!" Gwen cries, rushing to his side. "Are you okay?"
"What the heck just happened?" Felicia asks, crouching down to check Alex's pulse. "One minute he was sitting there, the next he's glowing like a star and passing out." Jason whimpers, nuzzling Gwen's leg.
Alex slowly opens his eyes, blinking tiredly as he looks up at his concerned partners. "I... I entered the Avatar State," he manages to say weakly, his voice hoarse. "The past avatars helped me... But it was too much." He tries to sit up but collapses back down.
"Well, of course it was too much," Gwen says, gently helping Alex lay back down. "You just unlocked a state that channels the energy of every Avatar before you. Your body needs to adjust to that power." She places a cool hand on his forehead. "You're burning up."
Felicia scoops Ash up, who had been trying to climb onto Alex's chest.
"Here, drink this," Felicia says, pouring water from a nearby canteen into a cup and holding it to Alex's lips. "You need to rehydrate. Your body used up a lot of energy." Alex drinks the water gratefully, his throat feeling dry and scratchy.
"I've never felt so drained," Alex admits, taking another sip of water. "But I did it. I actually entered the Avatar State." Gwen smiles proudly despite her worry. "You're officially the newest member of an ancient and powerful lineage."
"Yeah, congratulations or whatever," Felicia says with a playful roll of her eyes. "But for now, you need to rest. No more training today." Alex nods weakly, already feeling sleepy again. "Agreed," he says softly. "I think I need to sleep for a week."Gwen and Felicia exchange amused looks as they help Alex stand up slowly. "Come on, let's get you to bed," Gwen says gently, supporting Alex's weight as they start walking towards their shared bedroom inside the base. Jason and Ash follow closely behind, sensing their owner's exhaustion.
As they enter the bedroom, Gwen helps Alex lay down on their shared bed while Felicia closes the curtains to darken the room. The two women exchange a look, silently communicating their relief and concern. Jason jumps onto the bed to curl up next to Alex, while Ash climbs onto Felicia's lap.
"You did something incredible today," Gwen whispers, gently brushing Alex's hair back from his forehead. "But now it's time to rest and recover." Felicia nods in agreement, stroking Ash's fur absently as she watches Alex's chest rise and fall with each deep breath.
The three of them moved in together after graduating from high school, creating a found family that's now expanding with their responsibilities as parents to Jason and Ash. Alex, at 19, is the oldest, with Gwen and Felicia both 18. The three share household duties, parenting, and their growing relationship with deep love and mutual support.

*He drops through the air immediately, landing gracefully on a rooftop overlooking a dark alley. Below him, Nick Fury stands with a gun raised, staring at something Alex can't yet see.*
Fury's eye tracks upward immediately, locking onto Alex's glowing form. "Nice of you to show up, kid."
