How could Charlotte Linlin not be angry?
The army she sent this time consisted of the elite forces of the Charlotte Family!
If something truly happened to Katakuri and the others, the family would suffer a devastating blow. It would take years of recovery to return to full strength!
So right now, Charlotte Linlin was both furious and in disbelief.
What the hell happened?
How did the Kamui Pirates manage to capture Katakuri?
It's no wonder Charlotte Linlin was so shocked. From the beginning, she had explicitly ordered her people not to engage the Kamui Pirates prematurely. She had even instructed them to take a remote route to avoid any confrontation.
Even if they didn't make it to Sea 30 as scheduled, as long as they didn't encounter anyone from the Kamui Pirates or the Whitebeard Pirates, the mission would still be considered a success!
But in the end, the plan still failed!
For some unknown reason, the Kamui Pirates—led by Kronos—not only detected the presence of Katakuri and his group in advance, but even managed to capture them!
What Charlotte Linlin didn't know was that Kronos and his crew were also completely caught off guard. A sudden, massive wave had thrown the Angel of Redemption off its original course, leading to an unexpected encounter with Katakuri's group.
In other words, if it weren't for that wave, Kronos might never have met Katakuri, and none of this would have happened.
Maybe even the heavens had grown tired of Charlotte Linlin's scheming—and decided to put on a show of divine retribution.
Compared to Charlotte Linlin's seething fury, Kronos remained calm and composed. He even smiled as he spoke:
"Charlotte Linlin, there's no need to be so anxious. Why don't you listen to me for a moment?"
With that, Kronos paused briefly—then spoke each word slowly and deliberately.
"All of your people… have been captured by me."
Every word he spoke...
Each syllable...
Felt like an invisible arrow piercing straight into Charlotte Linlin's heart!
Veins bulged on her forehead.
She had mentally prepared herself for this.
She knew it was possible.
But when it actually happened…
She still couldn't accept it.
A wave of grief and frustration surged within her!
The very outcome she had tried hardest to avoid had come to pass.
After a long moment, Charlotte Linlin composed herself. Her aged eyes were blazing with fury.
She said coldly:
"We're both smart people. Let's not waste time.
What do I need to do… to make you release them?"
As she spoke the final sentence, Charlotte Linlin felt humiliated.
She had never imagined there would come a day when she would be forced to beg.
If word of this spread… her countless enemies around the world would secretly laugh at her downfall!
But right now, Charlotte Linlin had no choice.
Whether it was Katakuri or her other children—
They were all important to her!
If something happened to Katakuri, it would mean the family had lost its most capable successor. That was something Charlotte Linlin absolutely could not accept.
For years, she had treated Katakuri as her most promising heir. She had pinned her hopes on him—believing that one day, he would lead the Charlotte Family to new heights.
If she were to die someday…
The future of the Charlotte Family would rest on Katakuri's shoulders.
