Hmnn...

So we finally meet, kawaii lolita dragon.

---Right in front of me was none other than Ophis, the Ouroboros dragon of Infinity.

And now she was staring straight at me like I was a cat wearing a funny hat.

"...So it really is her." Sadako, of all people, was the first to react as she muttered under her breath.

"Yep." I said with a rather plain voice.

"N-Nyaa… that's… Ophis. Infinite Dragon God Ophis…" Kuroka, on the other hand, flat-out tensed like a cat seeing a cucumber with butter on it. Her ears shot up, her tail puffed, and golden eyes went wide. "She's the big boss of the Khaos Brigade, so what's she doing here?"

Not exactly reassuring to hear that said aloud when the dragon god in question was five feet away.

Besides, I didn't know that cat girls can stutter their 'nya's. Is that a new thing, or what?

"I am Ophis." She said. "What are you?"

"I think you mean who, Ouroborus Dragon." I sighed, taking a reproachful tone with Ophis. "That's very offensive to the Human Community, so you need to be better, becuase we have rights these days."

"I am Ophis." She repeated. "And I meant what I said."

"Yeah, I'm sure you do. The name's Daichi. Daichi Michinaga." I replied. "And I am human."

"Really? Odd. It doesn't feel like that..." Ophis tilted her head slightly, her long black hair sliding forward. "What exactly… are you?"

"Do you mind explaining what you mean?" I asked. "Because I'm pretty much the same as always."

"You feel, different." Her voice was flat, but steady. "Human. But not. Devil. Vampire. Dragon. Fallen. More." Her gaze lingered on me like a spotlight. "Multiple different races inside of you."

"Phrasing." I lifted an eyebrow. "But, if you're asking about abilities, maybe. But I'm still human."

Ophis didn't even blink at the jab. "…The powers of different species… inside your body. You are not normal. Are you naturally born, or created?"

"I'm an orphan," I said as I thought about her words. "But as for whether or not I was cooked up in a lab... Well, I can't say I've read the instruction manual on myself, so I wouldn't know."

"Though, I will very much accept the preconcieved notion of being built different. It really boosts a guy's ego, y'know."

"I see." Ophis said.

Well, that's all great, isn't it? Now that all this is done, we can get going with---

"But I'm curious. What are you, though?"

You have to be kidding me. I just told you that.

As Ophis began to ask the same questions, sometimes worded differently, I started to think about what would happen if I got some of her DNA...

The power.... The power...

'Kekekekekekekekekeke...!!!'

I held in a laugh and a sigh, but I knew that in her mind was unbridled curiosity and wanderlust.

"You could say that I'm a special existence, Ophis. But at the end of the day, I'd still be classified as a human." I told Ophis politely since I could tell that she was genuinely curious.

"That being said, I appreciate the interest, but I've got to meet a couple of friends right now." I gave a small smile as I pointed behind me. "Tell you what, you see that big mansion way back there? That's where I live. So, let's hang out tomorrow. I'll treat you to something nice, yeah?"

For a moment, the Infinite Dragon God just stared. Then she nodded, once. "…Tomorrow."

I exhaled as the tension drained just a little, and we walked past her carefully, like stepping past a sleeping tiger. And for a second, I thought we were all clear.

-tip, tap-

Then the sound of soft footsteps fell in line behind us.

Kuroka's ears twitched. "...She's following us."

Sadako whispered, "...Yes, she is."

-tip, tap-

I turned my head slightly. Sure enough, Ophis was just walking a few paces behind us, staring blankly at my back like this was the most natural thing in the world.

We stopped, and so did she.

I turned around and continued to walk. And so did she.

-tip, tap-

As I stopped once more, I had an idea in mind and came to a stop.

And then I started to walk again, stopping after every few steps.

-tip, tap-

And yes, so did she.

"Something wrong?" I asked this time without stopping.

Ophis tilted her head. "…Following you."

"Yeah, I know," I muttered, looking at Ophis. "Why?"

She blinked, as if confused by the question. "I'm going where you are going."

I stared and she stared back.

They say that when you look into the abyss, the abyss looks back. This time though, I'm locking eyes with a dragon who's been alive for eons in the form of a little girl.

-sigh-

"…Of course you are." I sighed. "Fine. You win. Come closer then, if you're gonna tag along anyway."

Me and my bleeding heart.

"Are you sure, Daichi-chan?" Kuroka asked as Sadako looked at me as if she was asking if I was truly sure.

"I mean, it's not like she's gonna... not follow." I shrugged.

"That's correct." Ophis, without hesitation, closed the gap and walked right beside me as we made our way to the edge of Kuoh Town.

"Tell me about yourself. How did you become like this." Ophis asked as we made our way to the ends of Kuoh Town.

"You see, it all started when I found myself in a forest and a Stray Devil wanted to rearrange my guts through my ass..."

In the end, Ophis followed along as I shared some childhood stories...

What? Well, it's not like I can stop her!

Besides, who knows? Vali might appreciate his future boss visiting him.

-Sometime Later-

-Edge of Kuoh Town-

The roads on the outskirts of Kuoh Town were as quiet as ever as we stepped out to meet Team Vali.

And what a team it was.

"I see you've brought someone else with you Daichi... Hmnn, a ghost...?"

Vali Lucifer himself, the White Dragon Emperor/Hakuryuukou who held [Divine Dividing], the Longinus Sacred Gear that held the Vanishing Dragon, Albion.

"Long time no see! Daichi, Kuroka! I see you've even brought a maid, you dirty dog, kekeke!"

Bikou, the Monkey King wannabe, wore his cocky grin plastered across his face, leaning lazily on his Ruyi Jingu Bang like the smug bastard he was.

"It's been a while, Daichi, Kuroka. I see you've brought some people along... with... you?"

Arthur Pendragon stood tall and composed, with Calibur and Excalibur Ruler at his side like a gentleman.

"Morning! It's been a while! Hey, Daichi-san, I didn't know you also had a maid? We do too"

And lastly was Le Fay, his little sister, magician extraordinare, with medium-length blonde hair in a curly bob, waved as she sat on her floating magical broom.

"Not exactly, Le Fay. We did leave the Pendragon House, after all." Arthur corrected as he pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose with a finger.

Truly, they were a sight of misfits.

But judging by the expressions on their faces, so were we.

Or more specifically, Ophis was.

"Yo," I greeted, raising a hand. "Hope I'm not late."

"Hiya! Le Fay, how have you been?" Kuroka excitedly greeted Le Fay, as Sadako gave a polite bow as she stayed by my side.

"…Eh?" Bikou blinked as his staff lowering as his mouth dropped open. "No freaking way. Ain't that the boss of the Khaos Brigade, Ophis!?"

Arthur's calm expression actually cracked, his brows furrowing. "Impossible… what's she doing here?"

Le Fay's hands trembled as she almost slipped off her broom. "T-the Infinite Dragon God… here… in person?"

[Hehe. This one is rather crazy, Vali. He always seems to be immersed in some kind of trouble.] A low draconic voice hummed as I instantly knew who it was.

---One of the Two Heavenly Dragons, The Vanishing Dragon, Albion.

"Hah..." Vali, however, let out a chuckle as he covered his face. His magic flared so hard it made the ground quake, with the Vanishing Dragon's battle lust leaking out in waves. "You never disappoint, Daichi."

"You've gotten stronger, again. And here you are with Ouroborus herself..."

Beside me, Sadako mumbled something about having to go outside with a bunch of crazies.

Kuroka, on the other hand, was fussing with her tail that got prickled with static as she was caught between a silent magic nerve war between Vali and Ophis. "Hey, knock it off, you're frizzing up my tail, nya~"

Ophis stood silently, black hair flowing despite there being no breeze, as she remained calm. "White Dragon Emperor... You are..."

"Vali Lucifer. Nice to meet you." Vali put aside his surprise as he greeted.

[Long time no see, Ophis. Funny to see you walking around with the young ones these days.]

Her gaze slid past Vali, though, and fixed squarely on me. "…Because I want to see how someone like you lives."

"How curious." Ophis wondered.

"I have an idea, and I think you might find out in a bit, Ophis." I said. "Though that's after we reach where we're supposed to go..."

"Anyways, guys, it's fine. Ophis isn't here to get involved with our little excursion. She's just… tagging along."

"Just tagging along?" Bikou snickered. "Alright, if you say so."

Arthur shook his head as Le Fay looked like she had stars in her eyes.

"So, whad'dya say, Vali? Think you can handle lil ol' Ophy tagging along with us?"

"Ophy? Hahaha! Interesting!" Vali, however, broke into laughter. "How surprising. To think Ophis herself walks at your side…"

"Well, you know how persuasive I can be. So, Vali? What's the game plan?"

Vali's smirk widened. "Simple. We're gonna get Fenrir."

"Fenrir… the God-Eater wolf, nya~?" Kuroka's ears twitched. "Did I hear that right?"

"Yes." Vali nodded. "We'll beat the snot out of him, and then Arthur will use Excalibur Ruler to bring him under control."

Vali's gaze then sharpened as he turned to me. "And you, Daichi… you said that looking for creatures in the Norse lands to test yourself against. Am I wrong?"

"Yep. I plan on pushing myself as far as I can to understand my Sacred Gear, [Chaos Labyrinth Crown]." I nodded. "Balance Breaker's next on the list, by the way."

"I'm gonna unlock it and go bananas on all of my foes!" I smiled as I couldn't help but be excited.

Inside, though, my thoughts whirled like some kind of crazy tornado. Fenrir, oh Fenrir.

I need to start slow, so I'll do my best to get some DNA from Fenrir, and then Ophis.

That being said, Fenrir was strong enough to one-shot early series Issei by poking a hole in his Scale Mail, and rip Vali's [Half Dimension] in half, and nearly kill [Juggernaut Drive] Vali with a single swipe.

This is not gonna be an easy fight.

But fuck it, that's why I'm here in the first place.

"Great, so we're all ready then," Vali extended his hand. "Then we move. Arthur?"

Arthur raised Caliburn, the holy blade known as the Sword in The Stone as it glowed with great power. It had a grip long enough that it seemed like a two-handed sword with a round pommel at the end, and a huge cross-like shaped guard and a long blade with a gold colored edge.

(A/N: The name Excalibur ultimately derives from the Welsh Caledfwlch, which often got Latinized from Caledfwich, to Caliburnus, to Caliburn, to most known Excalibur)

It's edge shimmered brightly. "Stand ready, everyone."

-vhiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrlllllll!-

The air warped as space began to tear open, opening a vortex like portal to our current destination to... somewhere in the Norse Pantheon.

---No, it wasn't. It was I believe to be the Galdhøpiggen Peak.

They were what I think was the highest mountain currently in Norway, and even Northern Europe.

About 2,469 metres tall, located in the Jotunheimen mountain range... in the Jotunheimen national park...

As the space slashed by Caliburn's blade opened, Sadako drifted close, whispering in her deadpan monotone, "…Do you actually know where Fenrir is?"

"Not a clue." I grinned at her, unashamed. "But I'm guessing it should be somewhere around here from supernatural witnesses."

Before I could enjoy her flat stare, Ophis's voice cut softly through the magic. "…I do."

Every head turned toward her. The Infinite Dragon God, childlike and eternal, didn't blink as she simply stared into the void.

"Well, that just makes it easier, right? Let's go!" I chuckled.

And then, light swallowed us whole.

Here we go.
