Chapter 30 - 20

Chapter 20 Seeing Ghosts

The two bickered as Chu Tianqing's Mercedes-Benz stopped in front of a villa. Chu Tianqing got out and quickly walked over, saying, "You two masters have worked hard. This is my home. Please come in and rest for a while."

Chen Cheng nodded and followed Chu Tianqing into his villa with Zhang Qian. He looked around and saw that the decoration was very exquisite. In the living room, a dazzling crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling, and expensive wooden floors covered the entire floor. High-end mahogany furniture and leather sofas were arranged in an orderly manner, exuding the word "luxury" everywhere!

"Master Chen, Master Zhang, please have a seat. I'll make you some tea. Our housekeeper has also run away in fear. If this can't be resolved, our family will be ruined."

Chu Tianqing's wife, Liu Mengjie, wiped away her tears and said.

Chen Cheng nodded and said, "Don't worry, I'll get rid of it for you tonight!"

"Ugh, I regret it so much! Why did I buy this awful thing just because it was cheap?"

Chu Tianqing sat on the other sofa, pulling at his hair as he spoke.

"Mr. Chu, you don't need to blame yourself. Everything in the world is governed by cause and effect. This may be a tribulation in your life. Once I catch that female ghost, your porcelain vase will not affect its value!"

"Really? I thought they were going to destroy the porcelain vase too."

Chu Tianqing became excited upon hearing this; he genuinely loved this Tang Dynasty porcelain.

"Of course it's true. The female ghost is just attached to the porcelain bottle. Even if you break the bottle, it won't help. Only by getting rid of the vengeful ghost can it be just an ordinary antique!"

"Great! Do you want to go take a look first?"

"No need. Although the evil spirit doesn't dare to show itself during the day, it can still sense the Taoist aura on my body when it gets close to the porcelain bottle. I'm afraid it won't show itself at night."

"That's good, that's good. Thank you both for your help tonight. I'll arrange for dinner first, so you can rest up in the afternoon and help us catch the ghost tonight!"

Chu Tianqing said excitedly.

In the afternoon, Chen Cheng wasn't idle either. He set up a protective array around the villa and affixed a talisman to the outside of each door and window to prevent the evil spirit from escaping, as it would be difficult to catch it later.

Soon, it was past ten o'clock at night. With trepidation, Chu Tianqing and his wife returned to their bedroom as Chen Cheng had instructed. They both slept fully clothed and dared not close the bedroom door.

Chen Cheng and Zhang Qian sat on the sofa waiting for midnight to arrive. After midnight, the yin energy was at its heaviest, and this vengeful ghost would definitely appear.

Zhang Qian was both nervous and expectant, clinging tightly to Chen Cheng. In the evening, Chen Cheng wrapped a strand of her hair in a talisman, lit it with Taoist fire, placed it in a small bowl, and after it burned out, poured in water. He then had Zhang Qian wash her eyes with this talisman water, so that she could see those things as she wished that night. He also took back the peace talisman he had given her earlier. Chen Cheng also opened the Yin Eyes of Chu Tianqing and his wife in the same way. Although they had seen things before, it was only because the evil spirits wanted them to see. With the Yin Eyes opened, the evil spirits would have nowhere to hide in their eyes! He also temporarily concealed his Taoist righteous energy with a talisman, intending to capture the evil spirits in front of the couple to dispel their fear of living in their home in the future.

Time passed slowly, and the three of them—Chu Tianqing and his wife in the bedroom, and Zhang Qian in the living room—became increasingly nervous. Just then, the clock in the living room chimed, signaling midnight. Zhang Qian felt her heart pounding in her throat, and unconsciously moved closer to Chen Cheng. At this moment, their bodies were pressed tightly together. She was so nervous that she didn't even realize it, but it made Chen Cheng feel hot and aroused!

Another hour passed in this oppressive atmosphere, and there was still no movement. Could it be that the vengeful ghost had something to do tonight and wouldn't come? Perhaps it was afraid to come out because it sensed Chen Cheng's presence? Zhang Qian's mind wandered.

"Brother Cheng, why hasn't it appeared yet?"

"Wait patiently, and remember what I told you: don't look it in the eye!"

"Hmm, what would happen if we made eye contact?"

"If I can't subdue it, and it tortures Chu Tianqing and his wife to death, then your next target will be you, understand?"

Zhang Qian shivered for no reason, nodded quickly to indicate that she understood, and opened her mouth to say something, but Chen Cheng stopped her and whispered, "Coming!"

Zhang Qian shuddered and wanted to get even closer to Chen Cheng, but they were already very close together, and if they squeezed any closer, she might end up sitting in his lap.

The room temperature began to drop. It was summer, and the villa had central air conditioning, keeping the temperature a constant 24 degrees Celsius. But Zhang Qian felt as if she were in an ice cave, even colder than in Cao Jiao'e's house. A thin layer of black mist gradually rose from the basement stairwell. Because of the talisman water in her eyes, Zhang Qian could see things invisible to normal people. Then, a shadow suddenly appeared in the black mist. Why a shadow? Because it was indistinct and ethereal, like a paper doll swaying in the wind, yet it was clearly dressed as an ancient woman. Her features were blurred, her arms hanging naturally at her sides, and her feet were invisible. Zhang Qian was certain it wasn't walking, but floating forward. She was stunned, even forgetting Chen Cheng's warnings, and just stared blankly at it, her mind a complete blank!

Suddenly, as if sensing someone was watching it, the dark figure vanished in a flash, reappearing instantly less than ten centimeters from Zhang Qian. At this moment, Zhang Qian finally saw the figure clearly: a face as pale as paper, eyes without whites, only black, hollow pupils, and a strange smile on its lips, revealing two rows of sharp, thin, melon-seed-like teeth! Instantly, Zhang Qian was struck dumb, frozen in place, her heart seemingly stopping.

Just when she was on the verge of collapse and losing her senses, a warm, large hand reached out and gently pulled her into his arms. Feeling his strong and steady heartbeat, she gradually regained her senses. Ignoring the pain in her arm, she hugged him tightly, buried her face in his chest, and refused to let go.

The vengeful ghost slowly floated back to Chen Cheng, but he seemed not to see it, showing no reaction or fear whatsoever. The ghost stared at him intently for over ten seconds before slowly retreating, then turning and floating towards the bedroom.

Chen Cheng nudged Zhang Qian, but she didn't react at all. She just clung to him, trembling all over. Helpless, Chen Cheng forcibly pried her arms off and whispered, "It's alright, it's gone."

Zhang Qian was terrified and refused to let go. She shook off his arm and buried her head in his arms again, hugging him tightly once more.

Suddenly, Liu Mengjie screamed and Chu Tianqing cried out in alarm from the bedroom: "Master Chen, help me!"

The two were wide awake in the bedroom, their bodies and minds in a state of high tension. Their eyes kept glancing towards the door. Just then, they suddenly heard a chilling "hee hee hee" sound coming from outside, sending shivers down their spines. Then, they saw the exact same scene that Zhang Qian had just witnessed. It was so real. Before, they thought it was just an illusion, but now that they had opened their "yin eyes," they witnessed this terrifying thousand-year-old ghost drifting in with their own eyes. Fortunately, the two had experienced this many times before, and although they were also terrified, they weren't as scared out of their wits as Zhang Qian!
