Elzan tries to break the grip.
Elzan: "Woah, woah… I-I was trying to help-"
The Revenant stands up and it stares at Elzan. But the injury hasn't fully recovered yet, the movement reopened the half-healed wound, and fresh blood seeped down its side.
Elzan: "Gracious! You're bleeding again!"
The figure glances down and notices how the wound is bleeding. Without hesitation, Elzan quickly snatches a clean cloth and starts replacing it. The figure watches the young man's action, motionless. It doesn't say anything or react to anything but watches how Elzan does to heal the injury.
Elzan: "C-Can you please lie down?"
With slow, deliberate movements, the Revenant complied, lowering itself back.
Elzan tries to wipe the blood but it was quite difficult to do as the armour is still in the way.
Elzan: "U-Umm… I couldn't clean the wound properly… Could you take off the armour, please?"
The Revenant turned its hollow gaze toward him, silent. For a moment, Elzan thought it didn't understand or wouldn't obey. But then, with slow, stiff movements, the figure's hands rise to the straps across its chest.
Metal buckles clinked as the Revenant loosened them, one by one. The armor was old and heavy, bearing deep scratches and dried blood from countless battles long past. The Revenant then reaches for its helmet. With a heavy clunk, the helmet loosened, and Elzan leaned in, curious to see the face hidden beneath.
But instead of bare skin, another mask stared back at him. A vizard mask, covered the Revenant face, but can only see the eyes. Elzan froze, his mouth half-open. A shiver crawled down his spine. He glances at the Revenant's eyes, and they look… tired.
When the final strap fell away, Elzan reached out instinctively, helping to lift the chestplate free.
It was heavier than he expected, and cold to the touch.
Beneath the armor, it reveals the Revenant's masculine body, with a patchwork of scars, old wounds, and fresh injuries. A white bandage wrapped around the chest area. It seems to be a bigger scar, he thought. The gash he had stitched earlier was just one among many.
Elzan swallowed hard and forced himself to focus.
Elzan worked quickly, wiping away the blood and securing the fresh cloth over the wound. His hands trembled slightly. He glances at the figure, thinking if he should say something. But the figure just watches his movements remaining silent.
Elzan: "I-I need to stitch the wound… I-If you allow…"
The figure nodded at him as an approval. Elzan nodded back and he scrambled to his pack, pulling out a small leather kit he rarely used. His hands shook as he unrolled it, revealing a needle and coarse thread.
While he's nervously stitching the wound, he notices that the Revenant doesn't react to the pain.
Elzan: "Let me know if it hurts, alright?"
There was no response. The figure stirred slightly, but didn't resist. It only watched him emotionlessly.
After his hard work, the wound is finally closed. He sat back in exhaustion.
Elzan: "Phew… It's all done now…"
While he was catching his breath, the Revenant gets up and stirred. Elzan scrambled forward and pressed a hand gently but firmly against the figure's shoulder.
Elzan: "Hey, easy! You need to rest! You'll tear the stitches if you move too much."
The Revenant paused, its head tilting slightly at Elzan's touch.
Elzan eased his grip but kept his hand there, steady.
Elzan: "Please... just stay still for now. Let your body heal."
For a tense moment, neither of them moved. Then, slowly, the Revenant sank back and sat against the wall.
Relieved, Elzan gathers some dried wood sticks near and place them in the centre. He begins to strike two stones beside him, trying to start a fire.
After a few tense moments, a flicker of flame caught. He is now glad and sits down beside the Revenant, leaning back against the wall with a sigh.
Elzan: "You're lucky I found you when I did... Or maybe I'm the unlucky one, huh?"
He chuckles weakly at his own joke, shaking off his head. The Revenant turns its head, watching him again. Elzan notices how the Revenant is watching him. He begins to wonder, whether he should stay like this or break the awkwardness by starting a conversation.
