Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: Family Emotions

In a house in Giza district, a mother appeared clearly anxious. Her child hadn't returned from the school yet. She whispered, speaking to her smart system:

— "Has Abdullah been delayed, or am I just imagining things?"

The system responded:

> [Yes, he is late. The bus is over fifteen minutes ago.]

— "That's true... How many times have I told him: if you're going to be late, send me a message or call me, so I don't worry about you!"

Then she said to the system:

— "Call him. I want to know where he is and how late he is."

The system responded:

> [Executing the command… Attempting to call Abdullah…]

> [Call failed. It seems Abdullah's system is offline.]

The mother was shocked, and her voice rose in distress:

— "How could his system be offline? It's connected to his body, not just his phone!"

— "The only time it disconnects is... No, no! Impossible! He must be okay!"

Then she ordered the system sharply:

— "Search for Abdullah, and try calling him again!"

The system replied:

> [Executing the command… Attempting to contact and locate Abdullah…]

> [Attempt failed.]

Reading that message, her breathing grew heavy and she collapsed onto the couch. Her legs no longer seemed able to carry her. She completely lost her composure and began imagining the worst-case scenarios that could happen to her son.

She put her hands on her head and whispered:

— "In sha' Allah he's okay… Maybe the system just malfunctioned… Yes, it must be malfunctioning… Nothing will happen to him, bi idhn Allah..."

Tears streamed from her eyes unconsciously, and she kept repeating:

"The system must be down, nothing bad will happen to him, it must be..."

But the system snapped her back to reality:

> [Incoming call. Would you like to answer?]

She looked up and said:

"Maybe… Since Abdullah's system isn't working, he's trying to reach me through a friend's system..."

She smiled faintly, trying to calm herself, then said:

— "Yes, answer the call."

The connection opened, and a voice echoed in her mind. She said with a trembling voice:

— "As-salamu ʿalaykum..."

She hoped to hear her son's voice, but a girl responded instead:

— "Wa ʿalaykum as-salam… Are you the mother of citizen Abdullah?"

The word "citizen?" puzzled the mother, then she replied anxiously:

— "Yes, I'm Abdullah's mother. Is there something wrong with my son, my daugher?"

The girl hesitated slightly, then said in a sympathetic tone:

— "We ask you to come immediately to the hospital at the location sent to you… Your son is in critical condition, and he may die at any moment."

The words froze on the mother's tongue. She mumbled:

— "Hospital?... My son?... Critical?... Death?"

In an instant, she lost all control and screamed with a trembling voice:

— "Is… is this a joke?! Please tell me you're joking!!"

She couldn't even form full sentences.

The girl replied calmly:

— "I understand... But please compose yourself. Your son is truly in the hospital, and he might not survive. Do you want to regret not seeing him one last time?"

Hearing those words, the mother snapped back to awareness and said in a broken voice:

— "Of course, I'm coming... I'm coming now..."

She ended the call, then stared at the wall for a few seconds. Suddenly, her younger son's voice interrupted her:

— "Mama, what's wrong?"

She looked at him. She couldn't tell him that the brother he loves might be dying.

But she pulled herself together and said:

— "Get dressed quickly. We're going to the hospital."

She went to change her clothes, called her husband to inform him, and sent him the hospital location.

She left the apartment with her younger son and closed the door behind her quickly. There was no time for makeup. Her face showed signs of worry and sadness, and her eyes were full of tears.

In that moment, a mother's instinct was stronger than anything else.

At the Hospital

Fifteen minutes later, the mother and her younger son arrived at the hospital. She rushed toward the nearest nurse and asked where her son was.

The nurse pointed to her colleague, who knew the patient's location, so the mother hurried over and was guided to her son's room.

When she arrived, she pleaded:

— "Please… is he okay? Tell me he's okay..."

The nurse looked at her and said:

— "It's better if you speak with the supervising doctor."

One of the doctors responsible for the case came out, and before the nurse could leave, the mother rushed to him and asked:

— "Doctor, my son… what's his condition? Is he okay or not?"

The doctor calmly replied:

— "There's no physical issue at the moment."

The mother was shocked:

— "No issue?! Then why is he in the hospital? For fun or something?!"

The doctor understood her anger and said:

— "Your son is in the 'Deep Sleep Phase', and he entered the second level—but in a dangerous way. He could die at any moment."

The mother was stunned. The Deep Sleep Phase was usually safe.

She looked at him and asked:

— "Isn't there anything you can do?"

The doctor replied:

— "Unfortunately, no. Pray to Allah to heal him, for Allah alone is capable of saving him."

Hearing that, the mother calmed down slightly. She sat in a chair, held her Qur'an, and began reading and praying, her mind consumed by nothing else.

The younger boy cried silently, not wanting to disturb the doctor or his mother, while staring at the room where his brother lay.

The father, Adam, entered quickly but remained composed. He showed no weakness so as not to further break his wife or alarm his younger son.

He asked the doctor about his son's condition and learned he was in the "Deep Sleep Phase".

Adam was shocked and whispered to himself:

— "Has the time truly come...?"

He stepped aside slightly but stayed near his wife and son.

He whispered again:

— "I did everything I could… made the process as easy as possible, just so you wouldn't die, my son..."

Then he remembered the Family Legacy, and muttered:

— "So, you truly are the heir… But your chances of survival are 1%, and the chances of death… 99%."

He had sacrificed his career and future to give his son a chance to live... But is there still hope?

Suddenly, he heard a familiar voice calling from afar:

— "Commander… you're really here?!"
