Chapter 150 - Chapter 148: The Guardian Trials

---

With the five beacons now active, the world had a fragile shield around it—a magical barrier that could hold the Deep End's power for a short time. But everyone knew it wouldn't last forever. The guardians had to be more than just protectors. They had to grow stronger.

So, the ancient ritual known as the Guardian Trials was restored.

These trials were created long ago, meant to test the heart, mind, and strength of those chosen to defend the balance of the world. Now, Chirag, Siya, Kael, and the other four chosen guardians had to face them.

Each trial would be different for every person. The trial would know their greatest fear… and challenge it.

---

The First Trial: The Trial of the Flame (Kael)

Kael stood alone in the center of a burning temple. Flames danced around him, but none touched him.

Then, the flames turned into faces—faces of people he had failed to protect in the past. His fallen comrades. His family. Even the innocent lives lost in past battles.

Their voices echoed, "You left us…"

Kael dropped to his knees, eyes closed, fists clenched.

But then he remembered Chirag's words: "We all carry pain. But we keep walking so others don't have to feel it."

He stood up, heart pounding. "I didn't forget you. I fight because of you!"

The flames calmed, and a fiery sword appeared before him—his reward.

---

The Second Trial: The Trial of the Mirror (Siya)

Siya entered a chamber filled with mirrors. Each one showed a different version of her—some kind, some cruel, some broken, some powerful.

One version stepped out. It looked just like her, but with red eyes and a wicked smile.

"You're not worthy of love," it hissed. "You're just a demon cursed by emotion."

Siya stared at it. "I once believed that. But not anymore."

The mirror-self attacked, but Siya didn't fight back. She embraced it.

The darkness faded, and the mirror shattered.

In its place stood a black crystal rose, glowing with gentle power.

---

The Third Trial: The Trial of the Flame and Void (Chirag)

Chirag walked into a room of darkness. No floor. No ceiling. Just endless blackness.

Then came the voices—his fears.

"You are still powerless."

"You don't belong in this world of gods."

"She only loves you because you were broken."

"You can't save anyone."

The darkness thickened. Chirag began to sink.

But then, he heard another voice—Siya's voice.

"You are the light that came into my darkness."

He opened his eyes.

A small flame lit in his palm.

It wasn't huge. It didn't roar. But it burned.

And the darkness faded.

A white flame floated to him, entering his chest.

Chirag passed.

---

Each of the other guardians passed their own trials too, earning weapons, wisdom, and strength.

But there was one final test left—not personal, but shared.

---

The Final Trial: The Balance Gate

The guardians were summoned to the top of a tall mountain where the air was thin and the wind howled. At the summit stood a giant gate of pure energy—half light, half shadow. This was the Balance Gate, and beyond it lay the truth of what tied all realms together.

To step through it meant facing not fear—but responsibility.

As the gate shimmered, Chirag turned to the others. "Once we pass this, we don't just protect the world. We become a part of it. Forever."

Kael grinned. "No pressure."

Siya took Chirag's hand. "We already chose this path. Let's walk it to the end."

They stepped forward together.

---

Inside the gate, they saw visions of the world's soul—a swirling mass of memory, emotion, pain, and hope. They felt the heartbeat of the planet. The cry of dying forests. The laughter of children. The silence of the stars.

They saw the Deep End too—far away, still trying to push through the cracks.

Then, the Balance spoke.

Not with words, but with feeling:

"Guardians are not gods. They are bridges. Between past and future. Between light and dark. Between death and life."

One by one, the guardians were marked by glowing symbols that etched into their skin—proof of their bond with the world.

And then, they returned.

The sky looked different now. Stronger. The world felt watched again—but this time, it wasn't fear. It was protection.

---

Back at the Mirror Grove, Siya looked at Chirag.

"You're not just a human anymore."

He smiled. "And you're not just a demon."

They leaned closer.

Kael coughed loudly from behind a tree. "Alright, lovebirds. World still needs saving."

They laughed.

But deep in the shadows… Varn was watching.

And he was preparing something that no trial could stop.
