Chapter 162 - Chapter 162: Fate/Zero Chapter 2 Premieres! (Part 4)

In the movie, two fighter jets sliced through the clouds, with the pilots scanning the mist ahead as one of them spoke loudly:

"Per orders from the Fuyuki City Police Department, the fighter unit is en route to the scene."

"This is the command center. Please explain the nature of the situation. What happened?"

In response to the command center's inquiry, the pilot spoke in a voice filled with indescribable tension:

"Reporting to command: a massive monster has appeared over the Fuyuki River!"

"Are you joking?"

"Of course not—this is absolutely real."

The command center fell into silence for a moment. Eventually, the commander issued an order:

"Document the situation at the scene and immediately turn back. Return to base!"

"Understood."

The two pilots promptly followed orders and prepared to return.

However, at that very moment, several enormous tentacles burst from the surface of the sea, soaring into the sky to engage the jets in an intense battle.

. . . . .

The fighter jet combat was, without question, something Edward added for his own purposes.

In order to further promote the concept of Magitech Alchemy, he deliberately designed the idea of fighter jets and made sure to give them some screen time to shine.

Although they were essentially hollow frames—entirely powered by external magical energy, with internal systems being a chaotic mess—the concept alone was enough to captivate.

Sure enough, at that moment, nearly every member of the audience was completely entranced by the fighter jets designed based on Magitech Alchemy principles. They couldn't take their eyes off the screen!

"Holy crap?! What is that thing?"

"How the hell is that thing flying?"

"Is the person piloting it a mage from the Fate/Zero universe?"

"That can't be right. The Fate/Zero lore clearly states that magic is invisible to normal people!"

"..."

In an instant, a flurry of voices erupted, and the theater exploded into excited chatter.

Everyone's eyes were glued to the alchemically-designed fighter jet on screen—they couldn't look away, transfixed by the spectacle.

Likewise, Edward's fellow production team members were all completely stunned.

"Holy crap, what is that thing? It's so freaking cool!!"

Helena shouted, eyes practically sparkling with excitement from her chronic case of chuunibyou.

On the other side, Zat and the others were equally shocked—they hadn't expected Edward to create something so jaw-dropping for the movie.

"That thing can actually fly?"

Even Belldia, the undead knight, was taken aback. As a headless horseman, he himself didn't possess the ability to fly.

In this world, only a select few with wind-based elemental affinity—and at least of Grand Mage rank—could actually fly.

So when Edward introduced the fighter jet concept through the movie, everyone, regardless of whether they were mages or not, was thrown into a frenzy.

. . . . .

On the other side of the theater, Emperor Hubbard watched the scene before him in shock. After a long pause, he finally turned to Wilhelm and asked:

"Was this Lord Durin's idea? Or is this something that actually exists?"

General Wilhelm was just as bewildered. Having not participated in the filming process, he could only turn to look at Liya and the others who had been involved in production.

Seeing both His Majesty the Emperor and the Empire's Grand General looking to her, Liya—Vice-commander of the knights—nervously explained:

"Actually... this kind of flying apparatus doesn't really exist. Director Durin said that in the future, Magitech Alchemy may evolve to the point where it becomes possible. But for now, it's just a visual effect created using special magic."

"I see..."

Hearing Liya's response, Emperor Hubbard let out a long sigh. Whether it was from disappointment or something else—no one could really tell.

But no matter what, for the people of this world, the sky has always been a distant, untouchable realm. No matter how powerful a knight is, they can only remain airborne for brief moments and are still bound by the constraints of gravity.

Even high-level Grand Mages, once they reach a certain level of mastery, can float in the air for extended periods—but that, in the end, remains a privilege of the few.

In the neighboring Beastkin Kingdom, due to the existence of individuals with avian traits, they have developed a special airborne unit. But the Human Empire has nothing of the sort.

After all, mages are exceedingly rare, and under normal circumstances, the Empire is reluctant even to deploy them to the battlefield, let alone use them to form a dedicated aerial unit.

Such extravagance is something even the current Empire could never hope to achieve.

Thus, for the humans of this world, conquering the skies has always been something beyond imagination—literally unthinkable.

Precisely because of that, when Edward showcased this vision of a "possible future" through his film, everyone in the theater was instantly filled with wonder, immersed in a kind of primal, genetic sense of romanticism.

. . . . .

In a corner of the theater...

The Beastkin Kingdom Oracle also stared intently at the screen, his expression hardening.

In the past, the Beastkin Kingdom had frequently gained the upper hand in battles against the Human Empire thanks to their specialized aerial units, and these flying troops had long been regarded as an ace in the hole.

But now, if the humans truly had developed a magical device that allowed ordinary people to fly into the skies, the consequences could far exceed anything the Beastkin Kingdom had anticipated.

"So it seems we can't afford to let our guard down."

Tension tightening in his chest, the Oracle became even more eager to see whether this human film would offer him any more... "surprises."

. . . . .

At the Imperial Mage Academy...

The appearance of the fighter jet had sparked heated discussion among the mages as well.

After all, only a very small number of them—those who had reached Grand Mage-level—had ever truly seen the sky from above. For the average mage, witnessing the scenery of the skies was a dream they would never realize in their entire lifetime.

So when Edward used the movie to present a potential future made possible by Magitech Alchemy, the entire academy erupted in excitement.

"If something like this could really be built, I'd be the first in line to try it!"

"But I still think it's impossible. That structure looks way too fragile—how could it possibly move so fast in the air?"

"How does it even stay airborne? Wind-element runes? Anti-gravity spells?"

. . . . .

With the room abuzz with speculation and curiosity, the mages were completely immersed in this nearly sci-fi style performance, unable to pull themselves away.

In this magical world, the concept of science fiction doesn't really exist, but the mages had long entertained all sorts of fantasies about the possibilities of the future.

For them, this kind of unimaginable magical future might be better described as "magical fantasy."

Even the coldest, most rational mage couldn't help but get swept up in this dazzling, tension-filled, and somewhat grounded magical fantasy. They were utterly captivated—hearts pounding with excitement.

This... this was the purest form of human romanticism.

. . . . .

At the top of the Mage's Tower...

The Arch Mages watched the fighter jets in the film, too stunned to even speak.

Back in the first Fate/Zero movie, they were already baffled—deeply shocked, even—by the portrayal of firearms and vehicles.

Now, Edward had gone even further and introduced the concept of airplanes.

Even these mages, who were said to represent the pinnacle of human intellect, found themselves just a little... afraid.

"What is this? Has the world really started changing so quickly?"

In response to the Arch Mage Warton's comment, Administrator Hohenheim wore a distant, almost wistful expression.

After a long pause, he finally muttered:

"So that's it... So this is what that kid Edward has been yelling about all along—'Magitech Alchemy is the future of magic'! If magic is merely a representation of personal power, then Magitech Alchemy is about taking that personal power and giving it to the countless ordinary people—letting magic serve even those who cannot use it. Perhaps that is the true ultimate form of magic!"

Hearing Administrator Hohenheim's words, all the other Arch Mages were shaken. Clearly, none of them had considered things from this perspective.

For these mages at the peak of magical ability, a flying alchemical device was nothing particularly groundbreaking. After all, Grand Mages and above could already achieve flight on their own.

The Alchemy Tower had discussed similar theories in the past, but they never caused much of a stir—because for mages, flight was already possible and not such a distant idea.

However, the "fighter jet" Edward presented wasn't just a flying device—it was a flying device that ordinary people could use.

And once this concept was introduced, anyone could imagine the impact it could have on the world, and the monumental changes that would follow.

"If it were any previous headmaster hearing this idea, they'd probably throw the proposer out of the Mage's Tower for violating the core principles of magic," Hohenheim said.

After a long pause, he sighed and continued, "But now... the times have changed."

"…"

At that moment, the Arch Mages all fell silent. Every one of them understood the deeper meaning behind Hohenheim's words—and the potential arrival of a future that defied all expectations.

. . . . . . .

In the movie—

Ultimately, the fighter jets were no match for the giant sea demon.

After a stunning and intense battle, one of the jets was shot down, and the other continued struggling to escape.

Meanwhile, on the far side of the sky, Gilgamesh sat atop his golden flying vessel, gazing down at the battle unfolding on the water below among the Heroic Spirits.

"What a pitiful sight. Though they are mongrels, they're still famed warriors. I never expected they would stoop so low as to band together just to deal with that foul creature. How truly pathetic…"

On the other side, Tohsaka Tokiomi was in stark contrast to Gilgamesh's calm and smug demeanor—his heart filled with rage and anxiety.

Normally, magic must be used covertly—strict secrecy being the cornerstone of mage society. It was precisely because of his dedication to this principle that Tokiomi had been granted a managerial position by the Mage's Association.

But the devastation caused by Caster was not only threatening the integrity of the Holy Grail War—it was also utterly ruining Tokiomi's personal reputation.

Thus, he immediately pleaded, "My king, that beast is the plague ravaging your garden. Please, lay down judgment upon it."

"That's the gardener's job," Gilgamesh replied coldly, rejecting Tokiomi's request without hesitation.

"What, Tokiomi? Are you comparing my noble treasures to a gardener's hoe?"

"No! Of course not! But... as you can see, the others are already struggling to handle it!"

The giant sea demon created by Gilles de Rais possessed terrifying regenerative abilities. Even the combined attacks of Artoria and Iskandar had no effect whatsoever.

Seeing this, Tohsaka Tokiomi clenched his teeth and raised his voice:

"My king, this is a perfect opportunity to display the divine might of a true hero. Please, make your move!"

Hearing these words, the King of Heroes shot Tokiomi an irritated glance, then suddenly swung his right hand.

In the next moment, four Noble Phantasms appeared by his side. These radiant, primordial treasures roared with thunderous force as they launched downward, striking the writhing, filthy mountain of flesh below.

All four Noble Phantasms hit their mark. The impact was cataclysmic—like a collapsing mountain—obliterating one-third of the creature's body. But almost instantly, the massive sea demon regenerated, showing no signs of damage at all.

"Impossible..."

Tokiomi was stunned.

On the other side, Gilgamesh's crimson eyes were filled with loathing. He shouted:

"Prepare to withdraw, Tokiomi. I can't stand looking at that filthy thing for even a second longer!"

"Please don't, King of Heroes! Just wait a moment!"

"Tokiomi, I used four Noble Phantasms out of regard for you. Do not mistake my generosity for something cheap and disposable!"

"But you're the only one who can defeat that monster! With regeneration like that, the only way to kill it is with a single, total annihilating strike. And the only weapon capable of such a feat... is your ultimate treasure."

"What?!"

Upon hearing this, Gilgamesh exploded in rage:

"You want me to unsheathe Ea here?! Wake up, Tokiomi! Speaking such madness to your king—you should be begging for death to atone for your insolence!"

Faced with this, Tokiomi bowed his head in frustration and said nothing.

But just as Gilgamesh turned to leave, a shadow suddenly appeared on the last remaining fighter jet in the distance.

Without anyone noticing, Berserker had arrived—grabbing onto the jet's metal frame with his bare hands. The black corruption of his armor spread like ink across the surface of the machine, slowly eroding the jet's exterior.

In the next instant, his terrifying Noble Phantasm allowed him to turn the jet itself into his weapon.

"RAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!"

With a ferocious roar, Berserker took control of the fighter jet and charged straight at Gilgamesh.

The battlefield beneath the night sky was now divided into two distinct fronts.

And soon, as Tokiomi moved to confront Kariya Matou, Berserker's Master, the battlefield split into three.

. . . . . .

"This is insane!!"

The moment the nonstop explosive action played across the screen, all the audience members widened their eyes.

Each of them stared intensely at the unfolding battle, barely blinking—afraid to miss even a single frame.

And soon, the movie continued developing... heading straight toward an astonishing climax.
