Chapter 47 - rewards

As Velkharion logged back in, the warm, golden glow of Valhalla welcomed him. The faint hum of divine magic lingered in the air, and the grand hall where the Asgardian gods had been freed stood as glorious as ever. It was a stark contrast to the frigid chaos of his previous adventures, and for a moment, he allowed himself to simply admire the tranquility.

But his peace didn't last long. A flood of system notifications filled his HUD, each one chiming in rapid succession. The sheer number of updates was staggering, the screen lighting up with rewards, level-ups, and achievements as the system calculated every completed mission, defeated enemy, and contribution he'd made to the unfolding events.

The sheer volume of information felt overwhelming, but Velkharion couldn't help the smirk tugging at his lips as he processed each update. He closed his eyes briefly, feeling the power coursing through him. When the notifications finally stopped, he turned his attention to his updated status screen to assess the changes.

Velkharion's reflection in a nearby polished surface confirmed what the system had noted—his appearance had evolved along with his race. He was now a Kijin, his features far more humanoid than before. His skin had taken on a light brown hue, accented with intricate blue flower-like markings that glowed faintly with magical energy. Small, curved horns protruded from his forehead, giving him an aura of both elegance and menace. His fiery eyes burned brighter than ever, completing the transformation.

"Not bad," Velkharion muttered, inspecting the markings on his arms. His build remained lean but powerful, and the strength he felt in his new form was undeniable.

He opened his class menu next, reviewing the long list of evolutions and new additions. His Swordmaster class was nearing its maximum level, granting him access to devastating new skills and techniques. Meanwhile, Rune Master, which had served as a secondary subclass for most of his journey, had now been promoted to his main subclass, enhancing his connection to the magical runes he had relied on so heavily.

The new classes gifted by the Norse gods added even more versatility to his arsenal. The Thunder Vanguard promised powerful melee strikes infused with lightning, while the Tempest Conjurer opened up high-level storm-based magic. The assassin-like Shadow Warden and weapon-specialist classes further expanded his combat potential, giving him tools for nearly every scenario.

His inventory was overflowing with new items, each one a testament to the challenges he had overcome:

- Divine Frost Amulet: Grants complete immunity to frost-based debuffs.

- Runestone of Yggdrasil: Amplifies all rune magic by 25%.

- Mjölnir's Fragment: A quest item said to unlock a hidden trial.

- Godsbane Cloak: Reduces damage from divine-class entities.

As Velkharion scanned through his rewards, a unique notification appeared in his HUD—a personalized message from the developers of Yggdrasil Online.

"Congratulations, Velkharion, on your unprecedented achievement in the Wrath of the Giants questline. Your actions have reshaped Asgard and the server-wide narrative. As a token of our recognition, you have been granted a one-time request. Use this wisely to create or enhance an item, class, or feature of your choice. Your impact on the game has been legendary, and we can't wait to see what you do next."

Velkharion raised an eyebrow, the corners of his lips curving into a grin. "A developer reward, huh? I've heard of these," he thought to himself. "This is the kind of thing they give to world champions. Guess I've made quite the impression."

The mention of the World Champion Tournament jogged his memory, and he crossed his arms, leaning against the wall as he mused. "Right… the tournament is coming up soon. Could be a good chance to test this new build of mine. But first…" He glanced at the long list of rewards and upgrades in his menu. "I'll need to figure out what to request."

Velkharion closed the menus, letting out a deep breath as he took a seat on a nearby bench in Valhalla. The sheer scale of what he had accomplished was only now beginning to sink in. He had freed the gods, stopped the Frost Giants' assault, and earned the recognition of the system itself. And yet, as always, his mind was already moving forward, planning his next steps.

The warm, golden glow of Valhalla enveloped him, its tranquil atmosphere a stark contrast to the chaos he had endured. For the first time in days, Velkharion allowed himself to relax, a rare smile crossing his face.

"Nearly level 80," he muttered to himself. "Not bad for a solo player."
