To lower emotions, sweet food is good, right?
"This is the nearest bakery, Madam. But, is it okay to just leave like this? I saw, Duke kept staring at you earlier," Anna said.
Of course, she was worried and anxious. Because Calsius seemed not to give them permission to leave. Calsius only stared from a distance, with his blue eyes, it looked scary.
"No problem. Besides, I'm used to getting looks like that."
"But I'm not used to it, Madam," Anna muttered to herself.
They entered the shop and ordered some desserts to eat together. And when it arrived, the soft cream in the cake made Adelle exclaim happily again.
"Anna, you're good at choosing cakes!" Adelle exclaimed.
"Hehe, thank you, Madam."
Adelle was engrossed in the delicious sweet food. Until, her hearing caught something that slightly offended her. The sound was so loud and clear, as if deliberately wanting to disturb her.
"Do you know about the news of that useless wife? I heard she's going to be divorced soon!" said one of the women gathered at a table in the shop.
"Really? Then, what else?" asked the others.
"They say the husband doesn't want to live together anymore. She won't even get a penny of his wealth and inheritance!"
In the midst of their lively conversation—more precisely, mocking Adelle, the woman they were talking about came over to them. "Wow, the conversation is interesting, can I join?"
"D-duchess!" the three exclaimed, not expecting Adelle to join them.
"Why? Am I not allowed to join? Well, too bad, I missed important news about myself."
"T-that, that's not about you, Duchess," one of them replied.
"That's right, Duchess."
Adelle chuckled. "That's right. It must not be me. Because my husband loves me very much, so he doesn't let me touch any work. Oh, he even gets very angry when he finds out I try to help him."
"And also, my husband is jealous. He forbids me from attending parties and instead locks me up at home, he's so adorable, isn't he?" Adelle chuckled again.
The three women looked at each other then chuckled together. Adelle smiled wryly, opened her silver fan, then covered the smile on her face with the fan.
"It's a shame, isn't it, you all don't seem to be loved by your respective husbands. Your complaints, can I help?"
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ever seen a child pout?
That's what Calsius saw this time. His naughty wife crossing her arms, with a pouting lip and turning her face away from him. Calsius knew that Adelle was in a sensitive condition where even a slight disturbance would threaten his life.
Their destination was Madam Fairy's Boutique.
"You said you'd take me for a walk," Adelle whined.
"Yes, this is also a walk. We'll prepare clothes for the party, then you'll get your share of walking," Calsius replied casually. He reached for Adelle's waist to pull her closer and invited her to walk together into the boutique.
The interior was coated with silver paint, giving an elegant and clean impression. It even made the colors of the displayed clothes clearer and more defined. Adelle was mesmerized by the contents of the boutique. And Calsius was certainly proud because Rico did a very good job.
"Welcome, Duke and Duchess. I, Madam Fairy, pay my respects," said the silver-haired woman with a slight bow. Then she carved another friendly smile, especially at Adelle.
"As my people informed you, I want to see some clothes we can wear to attend the royal party," Calsius said.
Madam Fairy nodded understandingly. "I have prepared some matching outfits that you can try on first. Please, Sir."
"I'll go first, okay."
Adelle nodded and sat down on a chair in the waiting room."""She lay her back down, tired from an activity she rarely did. Moreover, she had already gone out yesterday, so the woman was a little tired and wanted to rest for a while.
Not long after, Madam Fairy arrived, serving tea and sweets.
"You can enjoy these while waiting for the Master to get ready," she said.
"Thank you, Madam." Adelle smiled faintly and brought the tea to her lips for a quick sip. "But, can I trust that there's no poison in here?"
"W-what? How could I dare, Madam."
Adelle chuckled briefly. "I'm joking, Madam. I'm just being cautious because it seems many eyes wish for the death of this troublesome Duchess."
Madam Fairy also smiled faintly. They looked at each other, and Adelle scrutinized Madam's yellow eyes.
"You're popular with that title, aren't you. If I were you, I wouldn't be as strong and capable enough to go out of the house." Madam asked for permission to leave Adelle because Calsius was ready in his clothes. "You're amazing, Madam."
Adelle mused at Madam calling her that. Not wanting to care, Adelle sipped her tea. Sweet, she thought the tea would be a little bitter and strong. Afterwards, she moved forward to check Calsius's appearance.
As soon as she arrived, Adelle furrowed her brow. It even felt a little tight and hot, making her almost choke when she saw Calsius wrapped in an elegant silver outfit. The ornaments adorning his chest were also so captivating, it was clear that Calsius would be even more perfect if he wore a party mask of the same color.
"This is bad! Why is he so handsome! Calm down, Adelle. This is nothing. He's just the usual Calsius you see at home, calm down. Just stay calm and—"
"Adelle, what's wrong?" Calsius asked, reaching for Adelle's shoulder as she suddenly turned her back to him. "Does this not suit me?" he asked again.
"N-no. It suits you. M-madam, I'll try mine too." Without looking at Calsius, Adelle immediately walked away, followed by several boutique assistants carrying her clothes.
"Is Madam always this shy?" Madam asked.
"Shy? No, she's a very straightforward person." Calsius smiled faintly without taking his eyes off Adelle's back, which still seemed to be grumbling.
"In that case,"
"Yes. I look good in this. From her gestures, she's saying that."
Madam blinked at what she had just seen. Calsius smiled and began to sit down. Choosing another design that might suit Adelle's body. Madam Fairy also served new drinks. The boutique owner said they would do a little makeup for Adelle to match her outfit. And Calsius couldn't wait to see her.
Although he had often seen Adelle wearing makeup, Calsius never got tired of seeing her.
Not because of her face, not because of the makeup that beautified her. Calsius liked her simply because she was Adelle.
That was how simple Calsius's heartfelt expression was.
Because that woman was Adelle, no matter how long, he would continue to like her without ever getting bored.
