Chapter 240 - Chapter 238: Crystal Lake

The students on the bus were busy taking pictures, chatting, and generally messing around until the bus finally stopped. Only then did they realize they had arrived at their destination.

"Alright everyone, let's get off the bus first! You can continue taking pictures later."

Everyone got off the bus and unloaded their luggage. The bus then drove off immediately.

"Ms. Elizabeth, isn't the bus supposed to wait for us here?"

Carly looked at the departing bus with some confusion. The driver was really taking off in a hurry, as if they didn't want to stay there for even a minute.

"This bus belongs to the tour company, not the one hired by the school. This field trip is in partnership with a tour company. Wait here for a moment, and I'll go contact the resort staff."

"Ms. Elizabeth, why don't I go? You don't need to trouble yourself with such a small errand!"

The one speaking was the school's gym teacher, whose name was Matt Sanders.

Elizabeth was so beautiful and single, so she was not only very popular with the students at school but also had many single male teachers pursuing her.

The physical education teacher in front of them, who looked to be around thirty years old, was one of them.

However, Elizabeth had always shown a special attitude only towards Roy, while her attitude towards others was the kind of polite formality that kept people at arm's length.

"No need, Mr. Sanders. I've been the one in contact with the tour company, so it's easier for me."

With that, Elizabeth walked towards the resort's office.

About ten minutes later, Elizabeth returned with a staff member.

"We've already made all the arrangements. You can choose any of the cabins in this area. Each cabin can accommodate four to six people, and there's already enough food inside for a week."

"Thank you, Mr. Fisher."

Mr. Fisher led everyone to choose their cabins, and also introduced them to the resort's facilities.

This resort was actually quite interesting. It was built around the lake in the center, with each cabin about a hundred yards or so apart, ensuring privacy.

"Within the resort, you can move around freely, but please do not cross the lake to the other side."

Hearing this, Wade became a little curious.

"Why is that?"

"That's because the several small islands in the lake and the town across the lake are all private property. Their owners aren't very friendly. In the past, there have been conflicts between tourists and them."

Mr. Fisher's explanation made sense to everyone.

In rural America, the concept of private property is taken very seriously, especially by farmers.

Every year, you see news reports about people trespassing on farms and being shot dead by the owners, with the victims often being Black.

Originally, some mischievous students were thinking about exploring the other side of the lake, but after hearing what Mr. Fisher said, the thought of adventure vanished.

After all, their lives were more important.

Next, everyone started assigning the vacation homes.

Elizabeth didn't force any assignments but let the students choose freely.

As a result, Roy became a hot commodity.

Jennifer and Niddy were definitely going to be in the same cabin as Roy, and then Ashley couldn't possibly stay in a different cabin, so that made four people.

Although Nancy didn't say anything, it seemed she also wanted to stay in the same cabin as Roy, taking another spot.

Even in a large cabin that could accommodate six people, there was only one spot left, and the girls were practically at each other's throats for it.

Carly and Peggy, who were best friends, were even arguing over this last spot, which was quite baffling.

In the end, things got so awkward that Elizabeth had no choice but to step in and designate someone.

"Wade, the last room is yours!"

Wade's eyes widened, and he pointed at himself with disbelief.

"Ms. Elizabeth, are you saying I should go stay there?"

Glancing at Roy's expression, Wade was certain he'd be done for if he went, so he quickly shook his head and refused.

"No, no, no! Ms. Elizabeth, I've already made plans to stay with someone!"

Wade randomly grabbed a girl, who didn't acknowledge him but also didn't refuse.

How should one put it? If Roy was the most desirable guy at Oakwood High, then Wade should be in the second tier.

After all, Wade himself wasn't bad-looking, he was on the football team, and he seemed generous and quite wealthy.

Having no other choice, Elizabeth had to pick someone else, but no matter who she chose, someone would end up being unhappy.

So, Elizabeth simply announced that she would be staying in the vacation home with Roy.

Roy's eyes narrowed. He began to suspect that this was all part of the female demon king's plan, that she was just waiting for this opportunity to openly stay with him.

The most disappointed people at not being able to stay in the same cabin as Roy weren't the girls, but the two male teachers who were chaperoning the trip.

There were a total of four chaperones on this trip, two male and two female.

Both male teachers were relatively young, around thirty years old, but the female teachers, besides Elizabeth, included a middle-aged woman, so there was basically no room for choice.

Didn't guys like Matt Sanchez and the other male teacher want something to happen with Elizabeth during the field trip?

Of course, they did! Even if they didn't end up getting married, some romantic memories would be nice!

Now it seemed that even these small hopes went down the drain.

So Matt and the other male teacher started glaring at Roy.

Roy was speechless. It wasn't like he asked Elizabeth to stay with him. Why were they looking at him?

Without any hesitation, Roy glared back.

Under Roy's terrifying killing intent, the two male teachers suddenly recalled all the tragic events that had ever happened in their lives, and then they thought of Roy's terrifying record, and promptly chickened out.

All that was left was for the male students to start lamenting that someone had already monopolized so many beautiful female classmates, and now they were even going after the beautiful teacher.

Roy: You guys want to think about it some more?

However, the other female teacher seemed to have some concerns.

"Ms. Hull, won't this have a bad influence?"

Elizabeth smiled.

"Mrs. Hayes, I think little Roy will be very busy these days and won't have time to bother with me!"

As she spoke, Elizabeth even winked at Roy.

The girls around Roy blushed at this little wink, but only Jennifer showed a strange look.

Jennifer had long felt that something was off about Elizabeth, but she never had any proof.

(Jennifer saw something during the wax museum incident, but Elizabeth altered her memories, leaving only some impressions.)

In the end, everyone settled into the vacation homes according to Elizabeth's arrangements.

After a simple lunch, everyone started unpacking their luggage and doing some tidying up around the houses.

Roy didn't need to do any tidying up. Several girls were scrambling to help, and all he had to do was carry their luggage into the house.

Sometimes, Roy would wonder if girls liked to put dumbbells in their luggage, otherwise, why would such a small suitcase be so heavy?

Fortunately, Roy's strength stat was far beyond that of a normal person, so he effortlessly carried the luggage of all five girls into the vacation home.

"Little Roy, could you help me carry my luggage too?"

Roy turned his head and saw Elizabeth sitting leisurely on a chair, like a boss, without even tidying up her own room.

This left Roy speechless.

"Can't you carry it yourself?"

Hearing this, Elizabeth put on a heartbroken expression.

"Oh my god! Little Roy is actually so cold to his teacher! Teacher is so sad!"

As soon as these words came out, the four girls who were tidying up simultaneously cast suspicious glances at Roy.

Roy's lips twitched. He knew that staying with Elizabeth wouldn't lead to anything good. He wondered how many other shenanigans would occur this week.

"Alright, alright! I'll go get it now!"

Actually, Elizabeth's suitcase was very small, about the size of a flight attendant's carry-on.

But for some reason, this suitcase was surprisingly heavy. Roy almost threw out his back when he lifted it.

"What the heck is in here?"

Roy began to suspect that Elizabeth was deliberately messing with him. The Sloth Demon seemed like she would really do something like this.

Just like the last time the female demon king took leave, which had embarrassed Roy for several days.

Fortunately, the school principal was quite tight-lipped and didn't reveal Elizabeth's reason for taking leave, otherwise, Roy would have wanted to transfer schools immediately.

"Thank you, little Roy. Just put it over here! I have something I want to talk to you about. Shall we go for a walk together?"

After returning to the vacation home, Elizabeth started winking at Roy, making him feel confused.

What on earth did this woman want?

However, Roy didn't refuse.

"Let's go for a walk then."

Many resorts open seasonally, and this one seemed to be the same.

Currently, the resort looked very deserted, with no other guests. It was possible that the Oakwood High students were the first booking the resort had received this year.

Roy and Elizabeth strolled to the lakeside. During this time, neither of them spoke until Elizabeth suddenly opened her mouth.

"Roy, there's something wrong here."

"Huh? What did you say?"

Roy had just been a little distracted and was very surprised when he heard what Elizabeth said.

"Roy, I mean there's something wrong with this place!"

Elizabeth stopped and looked at Roy seriously. He rarely saw the beautiful teacher with this expression.

The Sloth Demon had always appeared very lazy, and no matter what she faced, she was always languid. This expression today was truly rare.

The last time he saw this expression was probably when Roy told her that he had fought Mammon.

"Teacher Elizabeth, what exactly is the problem?"

Elizabeth stared at the sparkling surface of the lake, her expression incredibly solemn.

"There's something at the bottom of this lake that can block my senses!"

It could actually block the female demon king's senses?

This made Roy even more surprised. How terrifying must it be!

Seeing Roy's stunned look, Elizabeth shook her head with a smile.

"Roy, you don't need to be so nervous. There are actually many things that can block my senses, after all, I'm not in my true form descended upon the human world right now. Let's just say there's something at the bottom of the lake with a rather high rank. You'd better investigate it."

Hearing this, Roy's eyes narrowed. He began to suspect that Elizabeth was just afraid of trouble and wanted to order him around.

As if she could see what Roy was thinking, Elizabeth reached out and stroked Roy's cheek.

"Pretty please? I'm begging you! Please, please!"

The female demon king suddenly unleashed her triple charm attack! Who could withstand that?

Roy immediately raised both hands and took a step back.

"Okay, okay, I'll find a way to investigate this lake."

Elizabeth immediately returned to her lazy demeanor.

"Speaking of which, this field trip is quite interesting. A tour company actually took the initiative to contact the school, wanting to organize this trip for us. To this end, this tour company even made quite a few concessions."

This made Roy's heart skip a beat. Could such a good thing happen in America?

This completely went against the values of a capitalist society!

"Are you saying there's something wrong with this tour company?"

"It's just a guess. When a large number of coincidences come together, it's no longer a coincidence."

"Teacher Elizabeth, what's the name of this tour company? I'll have someone check them out."

Roy took out his phone to make a call, and then he saw that the signal bars were empty.

This was a bit much!

A resort with a small town across the lake actually had no cell phone signal?

"Crystal Lake Tourism Company."

"What did you say? Crystal Lake?"

Roy's big reaction made Elizabeth narrow her eyes.

"Looks like you know this place, little Roy."

How could he not know!

Friday the 13th, the infamous horror movie series. Jason, the hockey-masked slasher, was very famous even in other worlds.

"Uh, I do know this place. There should be a super serial killer hiding here, but I'm not sure if that killer is related to the thing at the bottom of the lake."

In the movie, Jason was bullied by the other kids at Camp Crystal Lake because of his appearance and intelligence. The counselors at the time did nothing about it, indirectly leading to Jason drowning in Crystal Lake.

Jason's mother, Pamela Voorhees, was a staff member at the summer camp and witnessed her son's death with her own eyes.

So, to avenge her son, Pamela spent 11 years killing everyone who had bullied Jason, including the negligent counselor.

After that, Pamela mysteriously disappeared, and no one ever saw her again.

What took her place was the resurrected Jason, who began to roam around Crystal Lake, starting his day-after-day work of "purifying" the area.

Judging from this origin story, it seemed that Jason's death was only related to Crystal Lake, but Roy felt that things shouldn't be this simple. This Crystal Lake probably had other problems.

"What the heck! Of all places, there's no signal here!"

"Little Roy, don't worry! Now that we have a general understanding that there's a problem here, it will be easier to solve. Actually, I'm quite curious as to why the tour company would want to trick us into coming here. Could it just be to have that Jason you mentioned slaughter us?"

Indeed, unless the Crystal Lake Tourism Company was backed by the dark web and wanted to film some snuff videos, there must be a deeper purpose.

Damn it! If only the phone had a signal!
