Chapter 4:The Hidden Fortress of the Demon Lord

uts of the Demon Lord's Castle has remained a mystery across ages, a place whispered about in scripture, myth, and battlefield reports. Though many have claimed to glimpse its silhouette across mountains or amidst storms at sea, few lived long enough to confirm its true existence.

1. The Era of Kawaguchi Buddha (Pre-Divine Calendar)

When Kawaguchi Buddha, the dual bearer of Fire and Wind Dragons, clashed with the first Demon Lord, ancient records described a citadel of obsidian stone that rose from a cursed abyss. Its walls were said to be forged of volcanic glass, harder than steel yet ever-shifting with shadow. The battle scarred both land and sky, and though the Demon Lord was repelled, his fortress remained, sealed under layers of magic.

2. Shifting of the Castle

Scholars of the Vixuare Empire believe the castle itself is alive—an extension of the Demon Lord's will. Whenever defeated or sealed, the fortress collapses into mist and reappears elsewhere in the world, often in lands already stricken with plague, famine, or war.

Era 102 (Birth of Sakata Buddha): Some sources say the castle briefly appeared near the coast of the Buddha Clan territories, only to vanish when Sakata was born, as though fearing a destined opponent.

Era 331 (Fall of the Buddha Clan): The castle resurfaced in the Shadow Ravine, its aura corrupting the Harasen warriors who resisted the demonic tide.

Era 332 (Destruction of the Main Buddha Clan): The fortress was witnessed in the Acheron Peaks, a range where no bird flies and no sunlight reaches.

3. Present Era (512–Current)

With Juichi's journey already in motion, rumors place the Demon Lord's Castle in one of three possible regions:

The Abyssal Forest of Drakenshade, a woodland said to consume travelers whole, where whispers in the dark mislead intruders.

Ruins of the Main Buddha Clan, long abandoned, but believed to house a buried gate to the Demon Lord's realm.

Beyond the Shattered Isles, where a castle of black mist is rumored to float above the sea, guarded by storms and serpents of shadow.

4. Theories of the Castle's Nature

1. Living Entity Theory – The castle is a parasite feeding on despair, relocating to nourish itself.

2. Dimensional Rift Theory – The fortress lies outside normal space, existing only when summoned by the Demon Lord's will.

3. Cycle of Salvation Theory – The castle reappears every few centuries, aligning with great calamities, hinting that its destruction may tie to the prophesied Salvation Year (1000 Divine Calendar).
