Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4 A Deal For a New Hell(3)

"Now, you have heard all the information we know about this so called Deceitful Maw. Our objectives are to gather as much information as possible, which means we need to map the area, and gather any natural resource here. Any questions?" The Warden asked, but he didn't actually expect anyone to ask any questions, so when he saw someone raise their hand, he was surprised.

"Yes?" He asked

"How do we get rid of the stigma window from infront of us? It's kind of distracting don't you think." Xavier asked and everyone looked at him weirdly. Prisoners usually didn't talk to the guards, especially the Warden, as they punished anyone for the least of insubordinations.

"You simply have to command it to disappear and it will. The interface works on thought. Is there anything else you need?" He asked

"No I'm good." Xavier said and mentally commanded the interface to disappear, and it did.

'It seems he was telling the truth, but if this thing really works on thought, then I wonder what else I can make it do.' Xavier thought curiously

"Now let's head out, we don't have many hours of sun light left." The Warden said as he looked up at the sky.

'So that thing is called a sun huh.' Xavier thought looking at the giant orb of light shining from beyond the sky. The Warden then divided the prisoners into groups. He divided them into forty groups of twenty, with seven guards in each group. The remaining guards and prisoners were to stay behind and set up base, while the forty groups were set to explore outside the city.

'So we aren't going to explore the city first, or did the guards do that already? But why are we being sent into four different directions?' Xavier wondered as the forty groups were split into ten subgroups, that were sent in the four cardinal directions. This created a large group of 200 prisoners heading into each direction. They continued walking for sometime, around fifteen minutes, before reaching a large opening in wall that looked to have been carved out to make space for a large gate.

'This place is just one surprise after another other.' Xavier thought as he looked at the scenery before him. As far as the eye could see, there were trees everywhere, all of them filled with vitality and covered in blue leaves. In all his life, Xavior had only seen a few trees and all of them had lost their vitality and luster....most importantly, their ability to bear fruit.

"You, climb the tree and bring back a fruit." One of the guards said, pointing towards Xavier.

'Oh fuck.' Xavier thought as he looked up at the top of the tree, where he spotted a crimson red avocado shaped fruit. Not wanting to agitate the guard, he quickly climbed the tree with the agility and speed of a monkey, quickly reaching the top. He picked one of the fruits and climbed down, presenting it to the guard, who looked at him with emotionless eyes.

"Why don't you take a bite? You must be hungry right." The guard said and Xavier's eyebrow twitched, as he suspected something like this was going to happen. The guards were planning to use him as a poison tester to make sure the fruit was safe for consumption. Not having much choice, he took a bite out of the fruit and savoured it like it was his last meal, because it probably was.

'A little sour, but not completely inedible, way better than that garbage they serve in the prison.' He thought, and finished the fruit, which surprisingly had no seeds inside. The guard observed him for a few minutes, before nodding his head and writing something in his notepad, but Xavier paid this little attention, as somethimg else caught his attention, a ping sound from inside his head.

'My HP rose by two points after I finished eating the fruits. Does that mean I can increase it by eating food?' Xavier thought and decided to test this out later.

"Let's continue." The guard said and all of them continued going deeper into the forest. The group soon split up again, leaving only the twenty of them and the seven guards. They continued walking through the forest, and the deeper they went, the more tense Xavier noticed the guards became, clutching their guns. All the guards stayed at the back, and Xavier decided to stick to the back of the group, but not too close to the guards. They soon reached a massive clearing, where he discovered the reason for their tension. In the clearing, were four bulbous blue creatures, that looked like they were made of gellatin. Each of them were no bigger than a soccer ball, and their gelatinous moved seamlessly across the blue grass. There was a string of green letters above their heads.
