Come to think of it, he hadn't really gotten a proper chance to use Hollow Purple since he got it.
Blue and Red stood for negative infinity and positive infinity—attraction and repulsion colliding to create a black hole-like effect.
In simple terms, you use Red to push Blue forward, which results in a beam attack.
They were all large-scale moves.
Hatake Satoru rested his chin on his hand, studying the info on the panel with a thoughtful look.
Down below, Naruto and Hyuga Neji were going at it hard. Their fight was pretty much going the way everyone expected.
Hatake Satoru didn't really pay it much attention.
Sasuke and Sakura were sitting behind them, watching the match very seriously.
This guy... acting this out of character gives me a bad feeling.
Kakashi quietly frowned. There was no way he couldn't hear the indifference in Hatake Satoru's tone.
But from the way Satoru was acting, it was clear he didn't plan on saying what he had really gone to do.
Hatake Satoru's behavior reminded Kakashi of how animals act before a natural disaster.
Was there something off about the Chunin Exams?
Kakashi turned his head and glanced around at the crowd. Besides teachers and students, there were a bunch of random onlookers.
But in a crowd this big, there were only eight Anbu present.
"Only two Anbu squads? That's way too few."
If something serious really did happen, those two squads wouldn't be nearly enough to handle the chaos and protect the crowd.
"Well, there are teachers sitting here too, so maybe that's why they sent fewer Anbu."
"Or maybe it's just a shortage of people."
"You should probably stay alert too, just in case."
Hatake Satoru closed the light-blue system panel and leaned back in his chair, looking relaxed.
There were no Anbu left nearby.
Some had already been sent out earlier to keep an eye on Sand and Sound ninjas from the outside.
Now the village was full of foreigners walking around, so they probably had to send even more Anbu out to keep the peace.
Which meant there were barely any left to actually watch over the Chunin Exams from the inside.
And... well, even those two squads might not really be *our* people.
Right now, aside from a few decent teachers, Konoha didn't have many truly useful ninjas.
Kakashi and Hatake Satoru each got lost in their own thoughts, not paying attention to the match at all.
"He actually won~…"
Sakura's voice came from behind them. Just as Hatake Satoru was about to look down, a hand landed on his shoulder.
Sasuke stood behind him and Kakashi, resting a hand on each of their shoulders.
"I don't know what you two are worried about, but you'd better watch my match closely."
"I'm going to be stronger than that guy from Kirigakure."
Then Sasuke let go and walked into the aisle, jumped over the railing, and landed on the field.
"Hah… that kid. I definitely didn't teach him to talk like that."
Kakashi scratched his head and gave a slightly awkward smile.
As Sasuke's mentor, he really should be paying attention.
"…Did something get into him?"
Hatake Satoru scratched his cheek, confused, and looked toward where Sasuke had jumped down.
He didn't seem that interested in Kimimaro before. Why was he suddenly acting like this was a big deal?
But more than that, Hatake Satoru glanced at the three Genin from the Sunagakure standing in the waiting area.
Temari and Kankuro looked kind of nervous
Their plan depended on Gaara, and now Gaara was about to enter the match.
But Baki, their teacher and the one who was supposed to relay the plan, had been missing since morning and still hadn't come back.
"What do we do without our teacher?"
Kankuro glanced at Gaara, then wisely moved closer to Temari to keep some distance between them.
Gaara had been acting strange ever since he showed up this morning.
Neither of them knew what to do now.
Temari looked toward the Kazekage sitting nearby and frowned a little.
"There's no way to stop him from fighting now. We'll just have to wait and see."
Gaara and Sasuke stood at the center of the arena.
"Begin."
The referee waved his hand between them, then quickly jumped out of the way.
Sasuke took a step forward and flicked two shuriken out from his pouch, throwing them from a distance.
Sand burst out from Gaara's gourd and quickly formed a wall in front of him, blocking the shuriken. The sand slowly shaped itself into a clone standing guard in front of him.
He and Kakashi had already gone over ways to deal with both Kimimaro and Gaara. Gaara's style was all about holding his ground, and his hand-to-hand skills were pretty weak.
As long as he could move faster than the sand that protected Gaara, there would be an opening.
Sasuke sprinted straight at the sand clone. A wave of sand suddenly dropped in front of him, surging toward him.
Sasuke jumped to dodge it and kicked the sand clone, which crumbled into loose sand that tried to wrap around his leg.
Sasuke didn't hesitate. He threw a clean punch straight down and smashed the sand clone to pieces.
As he crouched to follow up with another punch, a thick wall of sand blocked his path again.
That's the moment.
Sasuke grinned slightly. His punch stopped right in front of the sand wall.
He shifted to the side and vanished in a blink. Before the sand could catch up, he appeared at Gaara's side and landed a solid punch right to his face.
*Crack.*
Gaara flew backward, his head tilted up. A crack split across the sand armor on his face.
The speed and power of the hit looked a lot like Lee, and the flexible movement was similar to Kimimaro.
"So it's not just Chidori—you even had Sasuke learn moves from all the Taijutsu users?"
Looks like those earlier matches didn't go to waste.
The Sharingan can copy hand-to-hand techniques too. If the body's trained enough, it can produce real results with just a short time of practice.
Talk about a smart use of copy-paste.
Even though Hatake Satoru didn't really want to give Sasuke this chance, he still had to keep an eye on Shukaku.
He needed Gaara to release Shukaku in this area.
The more chaotic the place got, the easier it would be for him to shift blame and act freely.
If everyone's attention ended up focused on the Kage, that wouldn't be great for Hatake Satoru.
"Well, Sasuke doesn't have the ability to stick bones into the ground everywhere."
"But just using Taijutsu alone still won't beat him."
Kakashi kept his eyes on the situation in the arena.
After taking several hits from Sasuke, Gaara stopped fighting back. He stood still and formed the Tiger hand sign, while the sand around him began gathering at his feet, slowly piling up.
