Estelle pursed her lips and asked with teary eyes, "Isaac, do you hate me that much?"
Isaac patted her head and laughed. "Estelle, how can I ever hate you? You know I care for you as if you're my sister."
"But I don't want to be your sister," Estelle said. Tears started falling down her cheeks.
"Be good, Estelle, and don't ask too much from me. I can't give you what you want." He smiled politely as he uttered those unsparing words. "However, if you want money to buy luxury items, I can..."
Estelle took a deep breath and cut him off, "Mrs. Yancey and the rest are about to leave. We should leave too."
Isaac shrugged. "Let's go then."
Estelle followed him into the car after collecting herself.
Not far away stood Clement, who had eavesdropped on the entire conversation earlier. He watched as she walked away alone.
