Zoey's face fell. Her hand slowly clenched into a fist. At that moment, lots of thoughts were running through her mind.
Placing a hand on her back, Leo gently patted her and said, "Don't worry, I'm here." Perhaps his comforting words worked. Zoey slowly calmed down.
"Mrs. Miller, I believe you're here for a reason. So, please get straight to your point. I don't think you're here with the intent of showing me how regretful you are for your careless mistake back then," Zoey answered coldly.
Initially, Agnes was sobbing and was drowning in her regrets. Just as Zoey had spoken, she was immediately startled. As if she was choking, her words were stuck in her throat.
After a brief moment of silence, she asked in disappointment, "Zoey, are you not planning to accept me as your mother?"
Her voice was filled with sadness.
Zoey's lips twitched. All of a sudden, she started laughing. However, her laugh was only as miserable as sin.
