Though Iris sounded cheerful, she was actually worried that Christine would question her again. If that truly happened, she didn't want to lie through her teeth.
On the other hand, Christine turned to Yvonne to comfort her, "Shawn's only reporting back for duty. You can always give him a video call when he has a break. If you really miss him, you can visit him, too."
Then, she added, "I'm quite familiar with the people in the army base. I can always make a phone call for you if you really want to drop by."
Moved by her words, Yvonne nearly teared up again. While suppressing her emotions, she gushed, "You're so nice to me, Grandma. You're like a shoulder for me to lean on. With you here, I'm definitely the luckiest military wife."
"Oh, you. You're just as good as Iris at honeyed words," Christine gushed back.
