I took over the tail on Bella's father the moment I heard he was back in town. Quietly, I followed him from a distance, careful not to alert him. Every step he took, every glance he cast over his shoulder, I noted it all. I wasn't about to let this chance slip through my fingers.
That day, I watched him shadow Bella from her house, the way his eyes searched for her like he'd lost something precious.
I kept my eyes glued to the tail end of the scene playing out in front of me. Richard had finally met her at the market, but the way she stormed off, angry, tears shining in her eyes, made it clear the meeting hadn't gone the way he hoped. My pulse quickened. This was exactly the opening I needed.
