Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: Learning Fuinjutsu Part 2

For the next few days, Seimei led a monotonous life.

It revolved around training, the Ninja Academy, and studying the essential Fuinjutsu Runes.

Every day, he would wake up, finish the necessary fitness exercises, and head to the Academy.

Since this was the second year for the students of class 1-S, the Academy had intensified the daily training and practical combat exercise twofold.

Now, most students entered their classes filled with dread. The training intensity, especially for the S-class students, was just that Spartan.

The citizens of Konoha would often see these students returning home looking like zombies who had been wrung dry of all their energy.

Fortunately, the resources provided by the Academy were sufficient to replenish their stamina and vitality within a couple of hours.

The next day, they would wake up as fresh as lettuce, ready to challenge the world once again.

But they would soon realize that they had to suffer another day of Spartan training in the academy, which would deflate their enthusiasm.

However, all the hard work, sweat, and tears paid off. They could feel their strength increasing visibly.

Otherwise, who would endure such torture?

If it happened in Seimei's past life, the Academy officials would be charged with the crime of child abuse.

But in this world, this was normal.

Plus, the existence of chakra made the bodies and minds of Shinobi much more durable and resilient.

So, even though they were still children, they could still endure it.

Ultimately, it was worth it.

And Seimei had the Otsutsuki bloodline, which granted him a physique brimming with potential.

His body was overflowing with vitality, making it easier for him to endure the hellish training and recover his energy quickly.

Even if he became utterly exhausted by the end of the Academy training exercises, his body and stamina would recover within minutes.

Thanks to this, he had enough energy to continue working on the Uzumaki Sealing Techniques after returning home every day.

And his diligence paid off.

Within a couple of days, he memorized all 361 essential Fuinjutsu Runes, their usage, and their characteristics.

He completed studying the theory of the Rune combination and Runic structure within the next two months.

During this time, he spammed Shadow Clones every day. He abused this technique so much that by the time he finished studying the Runic structures, his Shadow Clone Technique's proficiency jumped by almost 500 proficiency points.

Each day, he would create 7 shadow clones to study the Sealing Technique scrolls with him for 3 to 4 hours daily.

And it still took him two entire months to comprehend the Runes, their functions, and the intricacies of the Runic structures.

"That's 61.25 days of non-stop study of the Sealing Techniques. Damn it!"

(A/N: 3.5 hours * 7 shadow clone * 60 days = 1,470 hours = 61.25 days of non-stop training without sleeping or eating…😅)

"In this sense, if I didn't create shadow clones and wanted to spend 3.5 hours every day studying Fuinjutsu, it would have taken me 16 months just to complete studying the theories and fundamentals of Fuinjutsu."

"F*cking 1.33 years!"

"Although this speed is still better than most people who would need at least 5-6 years to complete studying the Fuinjutsu theories and fundamentals, it's still a lot of time."

"The main reason for it to take so long was…"

Seimei opened his System Panel and skimmed through all his skill sets.

But he didn't find what he was looking for, shook his head slightly, and closed the translucent blue panel with a mental command.

"No matter how many times I revise the Fuinjutsu theories and study various techniques, my system won't register it."

"Looks like I need to start practicing a few Basic Sealing Techniques for it to register Fuinjutsu in my skill set."

This had happened previously, too.

No matter how well he comprehended a technique, his "Unlimited Growth" system just wouldn't register it.

To enlist a skill or Jutsu into his system, he needed to use one of the two following methods:

 • Practice or cast that skill or Jutsu himself.

 • Copy the skill or Jutsu with his Sharingan while someone else performs it while meeting a few basic requirements.

(A/N:For example, if Seimei sees someone performing a powerful Fire Release technique, he could easily copy it with his Sharingan since he had Lv.6 Fire affinity, Lv. 6 chakra control, and enough understanding of Fire Release Ninjutsu.

However, he can't copy the Shadow Imitation Technique of the Nara clan since he doesn't understand how to transform the Yin attribute and control the shadow.

Even if he has a Lv.5 Yin Release affinity, which is equivalent to the Yin Release affinity of many Nara clan Jonin, the lack of a proper theoretical foundation will make it extremely hard to copy the Shadow Ninjutsu of the Nara clan.

The same goes for Kekkei Genkai Ninjutsu like Lava Release or Wood Release.

Since he doesn't possess these Kekkei Genkai, he can't copy and use Wood Release or Lava Release Ninjutsu.)

However, he didn't have time to do anything like that.

Before understanding the Runes and Runic combination properly, trying to create Fuinjutsu Seals would only lead to unnecessary accidents and explosions.

Well, he had shadow clones.

But randomly blowing up the room or causing random explosions outside wouldn't be good.

As for the second option…

"Both Father and Aunt Mito said it was useless to copy Fuinjutsu with Sharingan."

Seimei signed a bit and then continued his monologue.

"It's understandable."

"After all, I didn't have enough knowledge of Fuinjutsu."

"And they said that unless I could manage the chakra infusion properly while writing the Runes on special papers used for containing standard seals, it wouldn't work."

"Use too little chakra, the Seal won't even respond. Use too much, and the Runic structure of the Seal would collapse."

"As for casting Seals instantly only using chakra…it's too early for me to think of that."

So, if he wanted to learn Fuinjutsu without causing explosions, he had to have a solid theoretical foundation.

That was the standard way.

"Now, I just need to start practicing real Seals."

"Once I create my first properly functioning Seal, the system will enlist Fuinjutsu as one of my skills."

"From then on, I can quickly master the Sealing Techniques with every single practice session."

Seimei's eyes burned with determination.

Finally, he could get hands-on experience in creating a real Seal.

Even if it was just an E-rank Basic Seal like the Heat Seal or the Hardening Seal, it wouldn't matter.

He quickly stood up and went to grab the necessary materials to create the first seal.

----------------------

By the time he came back to his room, his hands were stuffed with various materials.

He brought a stack of special Fuinjutsu carving papers, 2 bottles of chakra-conducting ink, and a standard pen for drawing Fuinjutsu Runes.

The Fuinjutsu carving paper was pure white without any blemishes.

According to his Aunt Mito, these papers are very durable and can hold onto the infused chakra of the Fuinjutsu Seals for a long time.

If used carefully, it was common for the Seals curved in these papers to function well for at least half a century.

Then comes the chakra-conducting ink, created by mixing a few special ingredients in a specific ratio.

The Uzumaki clan had the recipes for different grades of chakra-conducting ink.

As expected of the prominent clan that instilled fear among their enemies with their Fuinjutsu Seals alone.

These inks made infusing chakra into the seals easier.

Once these inks dried, the Seal's chakra could flow within the Runic structure without much hindrance as long as the Runic combination was drawn without any visible flaws.

For beginner Fuinjutsu practitioners and regular Shinobi, the combination of the special Fuinjutsu papers and chakra-conducting inks was nothing short of a God-given gift.

Why?

For Fuinjutsu practitioners, these papers and ink could help them draw new Seals fast. It helped them practice Seals and tweak them without worrying about disrupting the entire Runic structure of the Seals.

Meanwhile, the Seals created using them could last for a long time, making them ideal for regular Shinobi.

For example, an explosive tag created by these papers and ink could last for a long time. They wouldn't have to fear these tags being ruined by sweat or water in the middle of a mission.

They could also carry custom barrier tags made by using these papers and inks, and set up barriers to trap their opponents in Fuinjutsu barriers without needing a Fuinjutsu Master to actively set them up.

Otherwise, they would have to carry a Fuinjutsu expert everywhere, which was quite inconvenient.

As for the pen…

It was just a regular pen that drew clean, uniform lines on the paper. Nothing more.

"The Heat Seal uses Fire Release, so I should probably…uh…avoid it."

"If I make a mistake, this Seal could literally set things on Fire."

Seimei opened the scroll containing a wide array of E-rank Basic Sealing Techniques and skimmed through them to find the right Seal to practice.

"Hardening Seal? I'm not sure what to 'Harden' in this room."

"What if the Seal ends up making the object I'm trying to harden extremely brittle and damage it?"

"Nope. Not happening"

"By the way, would this seal work for those whose thing doesn't stand up? Could this Seal make them hard?"

Seimei muttered and then thought deeply as if he were trying to solve a problem that could save the world.

Then he shook his head left and right.

"Never mind."

He suppressed his wandering thoughts and continued to look for the right Sealing Technique.

"Wet Seal? Why would you want to wet something?"

"Shock Seal? Nope. May create cracks on the wall, floor, or the object I try to apply this Seal on."

"Basic Storage Seal? Too complicated and too useless. Each Seal can only hold one item, and the items can't be longer than 30 cm or heavier than 3-4 kilograms."

"This one is way too complicated for a Fuinjutsu novice like me."

"Even 100 tries won't be enough to become proficient enough to draw one working Basic Storage Seal at my current level."

"Pass"

"Sharpening Seal? I don't want to ruin my weapons if I don't have to. Pass too."

"Light Seal? Similar to the Storage Seal—too complicated."

"Weight Reduction Seal…Nah! Pass"

"Tweaking with a few dozen Earth and Space Runes will take too much time."

"Cooling Seal?"

Hmm?

After skimming through tens of Basic Seals, Seimei's eyes finally landed on the Cooling Seal.

This Seal could cool down the temperature of the items and keep the things around it cold.

For example, applying a Cooling Seal on clothes would help the wearer avoid extreme heat during summer.

They would even feel a slight chill that would keep them refreshed even if the temperature rose to as high as 40°C (or 104°F).

You could even combine this Seal with others to create a temperature-regulation function for your clothes and home.

"No wonder this Seal is so popular in Sunagakure and the Country of Wind."

"Without the Cooling Seal, people in the deserted regions and deserts of the Land of Wind would have long turned into roasted chicken."

"After all, during the daytime, the temperature in the deserts can rise up to 45°C (113°F). And sometimes, even higher."

"Fortunately, I was found in Konoha and was adopted by my father, Senju Tobirama."

"Is this the protagonist's luck?"

"If so, then why haven't I experienced such things in recent years?"

"Did I use up all my stored luck by being adopted as the heir of the Senju clan?"

Seimei continued his mindless ramblings for a while before focusing on the Seal again.

He reigned in his thoughts and said to himself, "Enough nonsense!"

He glanced at the diagram of the Cooling Seal and made up his mind.

Even if I mess up, a malfunctioning Cooling Seal would just freeze the Fuinjutsu carving paper at most.

There won't be any explosions, sudden fires, or breaking things into pieces.

Alright!

Cooling Seal.

I choose you!!!!
