Tanjiro watched Kyōjurō Rengoku instantly slay the five demons, a gasp escaping his lips. Even though he'd mastered Total Concentration, Constant, Tanjiro couldn't achieve that level of speed. At best, it would take him five seconds.
Just then, a terrified Zenitsu ran from the sixth carriage into the fifth, calling for help. "Senpai Ryuji! Help! So many demons have gotten into the carriage! It's terrifying!"
Zenitsu didn't know that Ryuji and Tanjiro had switched carriages, nor that Kyōjurō Rengoku was in the fifth carriage.
Tanjiro looked towards Zenitsu and saw that the sixth carriage was in utter chaos. That guy still hadn't overcome his cowardice. Despite his improved strength, he still couldn't bring himself to fight.
Tanjiro was extremely displeased with Zenitsu's dereliction of duty. "Zenitsu, what are you doing?! Get back to your carriage! Who's going to protect the passengers there?!"
Zenitsu, inherently timid, had never faced such a situation alone. One demon would have been bad enough, but four appearing at once was terrifying. He lacked confidence in his ability to handle four demons simultaneously.
"Tanjiro, don't just stand there! There are four demons in my carriage! Four! You think it's calm over here?!" Zenitsu held up four fingers, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
Kyōjurō Rengoku stepped between Tanjiro and Zenitsu, saying, "This isn't the time for arguing. Let's deal with the immediate danger first." He then rushed towards Zenitsu's carriage.
Zenitsu, who didn't recognize Kyōjurō Rengoku, bombarded Tanjiro with questions, "Tanjiro, who is that guy? Why are you here? Where's Senpai Ryuji?"
Tanjiro had no time for idle chatter. He followed Kyōjurō Rengoku towards the sixth carriage.
Zenitsu panicked when Tanjiro ran off without answering. "Hey! Tanjiro, don't leave me!"
As Zenitsu tried to follow, another grotesque demon climbed through a carriage window, blocking his path.
Zenitsu shrieked, "Ah~~~ Another one!" He instinctively backed away, bumping into something.
He stopped, his eyes widening in horror as an incredibly long tongue dangled in front of him. Something was behind him!
Zenitsu leaped forward, creating distance, and spun around. He was right! Another long-tongued demon was behind him!
