Ryuji's words gave Shinobu no room for argument.
He was right: if you try to tease someone, be prepared to be teased back.
She hadn't expected him to see through her; she'd underestimated him.
But his boldness left a lasting impression on her.
"Ryuji, you'll pay for this!" Shinobu warned.
Ryuji found Shinobu's persistence annoying. He didn't appreciate her personality type.
"I think we should keep our distance. I don't want to get entangled with you," Ryuji said.
Even though Shinobu was beautiful, he wasn't interested in getting involved.
"You!" Shinobu was taken aback. His words were a blow; she'd tried to befriend him, but he clearly wasn't interested.
She'd been completely delusional, and it felt like a humiliation.
Seeing Shinobu almost in tears, Ryuji said nothing. He went to Tanjiro, removed his outer robe, leaving Tanjiro bewildered.
Ryuji took the robe to Shinobu. "Wear this for now."
Shinobu was even more confused. Did he have multiple personalities?
Nevertheless, she accepted the robe and quickly put it on. She needed to maintain appearances.
"As I said, let's keep our distance," Ryuji repeated.
Shinobu wondered if she'd been too forward, causing him to react negatively. Or perhaps he disliked being casually flirted with? She realized she'd been overly aggressive.
"You're just as cold as Giyu. No wonder you're fellow disciples! But I'll remember this. We'll settle the score later!" Shinobu said, ending the confrontation but not forgetting the incident.
She walked away.
Ryuji breathed a sigh of relief. If she hadn't left, he would have had no peace.
However, everyone was still stunned. The {Hidden} division members' gazes were fixed on Ryuji. They all wondered who he was to make Shinobu, a Hashira, so wary.
Shinobu's reaction clearly indicated fear of Ryuji. Otherwise, being treated like that, she would have retaliated, even if she didn't kill him.
After all, a Hashira's authority couldn't be challenged so easily.
