Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Loren stared at the red creature in total shock as she could not believe her eyes. The creature was a cross between a fox and a cat. It was red and had small cat-like ears and eyes but the face and nose of a small fox. It was small in size with three short tails! Its green eyes which reminded Loren of plants leaves stared at her as she stared back at it.

"Oh my god….you are so cute!" Loren said as a smile spread out across her face. She could not help it! The creature was so unbelievable cute! It did not scare her or make her feel that any danger was imminent. It just sat on the couch looking at her. It slowly cocked its head to the side as if making sense of her too.

Loren slowly approached it and sat down on the couch near it. The creature moved quickly to her and got into her lap. Loren giggled in excitement. Its green eyes were staring back at Loren and then it let out a meow.

"Yes it is nice to meet you too! My name is Loren! What are you called, eh?" She ran her hand over its fur and gasped at how soft it was. It was like touching a cloud if Loren could imagine what a cloud would feel like. Her hand moved over the creature's fur and it began to purr. Loren could not believe how soft its fur was!

"What are you?" She asked it. Her eyes went to its tails and she saw that they were slowly moving from side to side as she petted the creature. The creature continued to purr and then there was the loud sound of thunder outside that awoke Loren from her mesmerized fascination with the creature.

"I think we should get out of here," She looked into the creature's green eyes and smiled. "you're not afraid of thunder right? I can protect you if you are."

The creature meowed again and then moved to the side of the couch. Loren stood up and watched as the creature licked at its paw. She giggled and then she walked back to the large window. "Let's see how it looks outside." She drew the curtain and stumbled back in shock as she looked out the window.

"Oh my god!" Loren's eyes grew very large and her jaw dropped. Her brain tried to process what she was seeing.

Outside it was raining but it was not raining in Loren's neighborhood in Jackson Falls. This place was nothing like Jackson Falls at all! There were peaks and valleys in every direction with several small wooden houses scattered about the area. The first thought that came to Loren's mind was that she was somewhere in Switzerland. The scene before her reminded her of photos she saw of Switzerland especially the Alps.

"What is going on? Where am I?" Loren whispered as she stared out the window. The creature meowed and Loren saw that it was standing near her. She bent down and picked it up. She held it close to her as she continued to look out the window.

"Where are we? Do you know?" She whispered. The creature meowed in answer.

She saw two women walk out of a home down in the valley. They were both dressed in similar clothes that Loren had on but were wearing coats and dark boots. A creature that looked similar to the one that Loren had in her arms bounded out of the open door. This creature was all white in color and had two tails. One of the women picked it up and cradled it next to her and then they both put the hoods of the coats over their heads and began to run down the valley.

Loren watched them run in the pouring rain. They moved quickly and adeptly on the sloped ground. Loren stood on her tippy toes and could make out the top of a wooden building. It seemed to be larger in size than the small houses that were up on this hill.

Is that a town or something? Loren thought. She gently stroked the incredibly soft fur of the creature as she stared out the window. The creature was quietly purring with pleasure with its three tails moving about.

"What do I do?" Loren said out loud. She was so confused and was trying to make sense of everything that she was seeing. She looked down at the creature who looked up at her. She saw its lips curl into a smile well that was what she thought she was seeing.

"I don't know what to do! What the hell is going on?!" Loren turned from the window and looked around the room again. "My phone!" She suddenly thought and went quickly to the bedroom with the creature in her arms. She looked about the room for her cellphone but it was not in the room.

She quickly got out and looked around the other room for her cellphone and for a phone in general but there was none. There was a crack of lightning and the creature jumped in Loren's arms.

"It's okay. I'm not going to let the bad storm hurt you. Let me close the curtain." She quickly drew the curtain and then turned to look at the creature. That smile was back on its face.

Loren smiled back and then looked around the room. She tried to think of what to do. For certain, she knew that she had to venture out of this house and go to one of the nearby houses. She had to find out where she was and how she got here.

There was the sound of thunder again which caused the creature to leap out of her arms and go scurrying under the couch. "Oh no! Don't be afraid!" Loren said. She saw near the kitchen wall that there was a small wooden bowl that was empty.

Loren walked over to a cabinet and rummaged through the things inside. She saw a variety of small pouches that all smelled delightful. There was a large pouch inside that Loren took out and opened it. Inside were small pebble like food that Loren figured was the creature's food. She squatted down and began to pour some out into the wooden bowl.

There was quick movement and the creature was beside her watching her pour the pebbles into the bowl. "There you go."

The creature began to eat the pebbles as Loren watched with a smile. There was another loud clap of thunder and Loren looked at the window. She had to go outside whether she wanted to or not. She needed to know where the hell she was!
