Yuuta ran as fast as his legs could carry him.
The horrifying screams from the previous street still echoed inside his head, along with the image of those blinded civilians desperately reaching around for help. Yet it wasn't his own life that frightened him the most. Elena was still tightly wrapped around him, her small arms clinging to his body as he supported her with one arm and kept her face pressed safely against his chest.
He couldn't risk anything happening to her.
Yuuta continued running through the main street, but the farther he went, the more he realized how badly Yuno City had deteriorated. Fires burned between abandoned vehicles, shattered glass covered sections of the road, and frightened civilians rushed between buildings looking for somewhere safe to hide. Screams and distant explosions came from several directions, making it impossible for Yuuta to understand where the danger was coming from anymore.
