Mike exclaimed, "I'm a good man! Why don't you ever consider me?"
"You? Disqualified. If you were really that great, you wouldn't have ended up divorced," Celeste snapped, instantly sending him to the bottom of the barrel in her eyes.
Mike's face darkened.
He wasn't the only one looking grim. Sitting alone on the armchair, Gilbert's face was equally stormy like ancient coal.
Claire, however, was amused by Celeste's sharp tongue and smiled as she watched Mike suffer.
Celeste then turned to Claire and gently took her hand. "Claire, don't rush into anything when it comes to love. I've been asking around to find someone good for you. I'll see to it you marry with dignity, like my own granddaughter, not just because you've given the Watsons two wonderful boys, but because you deserve a man who's mature, steady, who truly loves and treasures you. Someone who'll be your rock for the rest of your life."
