Bonnie stormed up to him, cheeks puffed in anger. Charlie flicked her lightly on the forehead, and as her pained yelp echoed, his cool voice followed, "Not interested. Didn't you hear me?"
Bonnie rubbed her forehead, but her expression quickly brightened, eyes curved in delight. "That's my brother! Charlie, you know what? You're a total heartthrob, no one could possibly dislike you!"
Her sugary tone could melt steel. Charlie shot her a half-smile, too lazy to respond.
Elsewhere, Beryl Lin stumbled back into the billiard room, her expression vacant. Her friends called her name several times, but she seemed lost in thought, unresponsive.
"...Beryl, Beryl!" One friend shook her shoulder.
Beryl blinked back to reality, dazed. "Huh?"
Her friend frowned. "You look awful. What's wrong? Are you feeling sick?"
Beryl shook her head, but flashes of what she had just seen kept replaying in her mind. Her face grew colder, lips pressed into a tight line.
