As she passed by him, his voice stopped her.
She turned her head and saw his hand reaching out. Meeting Derek's gaze, she heard his lazy, teasing chuckle: "You're my girlfriend now, and you won't even let me hold your hand?"
The word "girlfriend" slipped from his lips with a smile, unhurried, sultry, and enough to stir something deep in her chest.

She stared at his elegant, pale fingers for two seconds, then slowly placed her hand in his.
His palm was warm as he closed his fingers lightly around hers, eyes fixed on her. "So obedient."
Heat rushed to her ears. She tugged at his hand. "Are you leaving or not?"
