There was a faint sound coming from inside the room. A woman's voice, soft and light, drifted through the door. Derek's eyes narrowed, and without hesitation, he pushed it open.
Inside, a woman and her maid turned toward the sudden noise.
Derek's gaze locked on the woman in the gown. Her hair spilled over her shoulders, and her skin was pale and delicate. Surprise flickered in her eyes as she looked toward the door, her expression gentle and startled.
She resembled a frightened white rabbit, timid and fragile but she wasn't Bonnie.
His hand, still slightly raised, dropped slowly to his side. His expression turned cold, all traces of his usual calm and laziness gone.
The woman gave him only a glance before looking past him. She tilted her head slightly and asked in a soft voice, "Dante, what's going on?"
She walked over to Dante, who met Derek's eyes with a neutral expression. Without a word, he took her hand and laced his fingers with hers. His smile was faint, unreadable.
