One of the guards met Dante's eyes and instantly flinched. A shiver ran through him as he lowered his head and responded, "Yes, sir."
The estate fell into an eerie stillness. The frightened woman was dragged aside, and moments later, a high-pitched scream sliced through the silence.
Lauren Duren's face turned ashen.
She stared in a daze at the tall, imposing figure in front of her. When Dante turned to leave with Bonnie without another glance, Lauren snapped out of her trance. Without thinking, she reached out to block his path. Meeting his eyes, she bit her lip and asked, "You're really going to turn against me for her?"
Dante wasn't known for his patience, but he wasn't usually the type to call for someone's hand over a minor injury.
Her eyes landed on Bonnie's wrist. The skin was only slightly red. It wasn't even a proper wound.
Did he care about this woman that much? Or was he just trying to humiliate her?
