A Promise That Defies Blood
Leon sat still he did not move at all and his shadow went all the way across the table.
For a moment he seemed older. He did not look worn out from being old. From all the things he never said. His fingertips touched the edge of the table like he was holding on to it then they just stopped moving. His chin went down. He took a breath and it was almost completely quiet.
He already knew this thing. He had known about it for a long time.
Natasha had stood up for him against death times. Two times she had put herself in harms way without thinking twice. Natasha had already given up a lot. More than anyone should have to give up. The idea of being tied down by chains that you cannot see but that control you because of family and promises really bothered him. It bothered him in a way that nothing else did. The thought of these chains, which are tied to blood and oath was very disturbing to him. Natasha and these chains were always, on his mind.
