The Golden Rebirth
The agony increased. His muscles started to atrophy, breaking apart in thick, shuddering chunks. Every fragment fell beside him, twitching once then remaining motionless, forming dark puddles upon the cold ground.
Thump~!
His face twisted under the burden of it all—eyes stretched wide, lids lost long ago, compelled to look without respite. Fear contorted his face, but beyond that fear burned something ancient: a grudging, unrelenting flame. His breath was ragged, each exhale scraping against the rim of a scream.
Minute by minute, strip by strip, his flesh continued to shed, littering the floor around him. And then, the next horror came—his organs, loosening, detaching from within. They fell one after another, wet and heavy, each impact against the stone as chilling as ripe fruit hitting the ground.
