Nicole stood before the giant cake with her eyes half-filled with tears. It was their fifth anniversary, and like the previous year, Leonard had made it special. This time she remembered, and had planned something special for herself and Leonard.
The host's voice reverberated in the five hundred capacity hall, filled mostly with people Nicole didn't know, but she was far too deep in thoughts to listen or hear what was being said. She was instead focused on the people she knew in the hall, the kids who were overly excited and Idris. A pretty lady stood beside him, and Nicole could bet that there was a chemistry between the both of them, or was it her eyes?
"It's time to cut the cake," Leonard whispered in her ears from beside her, and with a simple wave, she invited her family to join in the cutting of the cake. Idris had stayed back but a sharp look from Nicole helped change his mind, and he joined them, with a grin.
