Chapter 65 - Essence

Danso managed to feel his soul. He knew about the technique that Yvette was teaching him right now from his time at the Narahara Complex. It was part of the basics that was required to manipulate soul energy. It increased the accuracy of the manipulation along with the detection of soul energy in other people.

It was always a unique feeling. The feeling of the soul felt like an unknown substance was getting eaten by his tongue, heard by his ears, and felt by his body. No one could quite explain the feeling unless they are from higher dimensions since they could comprehend it on a higher dimensional scale.

After 3 sets of meditation and concentration, Yvette told him to stand up.

"Now come outside," said Yvette.

Danso followed Yvette as she took him through the forest after leaving the city and the veil and he walked past many snow covered trees, grass and plants with the morning dew still on them and the sound of crunching branches, soft snow was heard throughout their journey.

They encountered multiple different soul beasts that looked similar to kangaroos, birds, and insects, but they were all colorful and vibrant with soul energy.

After walking through more green and white bushes they eventually reached a frozen waterfall through a gap between two hills.

Danso took a moment to process the beauty of this haven and walked two steps before pausing and taking it all in again.

There were flocks of blue birds with red beaks together on the tall branches of the trees above. There were deer with frozen ice horns that were communicating with each other with their respective neighs. There was a frozen lake at the center with holes in an irregular shape and pattern that multiple soul beasts used to drink water. There were brightly shining soul fish in the lake and the fresh cool breeze was making this place like heaven for Danso.

"Even though the Aurora sometimes gave us hell…It also gave us heaven, maybe that's the beauty of it," said Yvette walking with her walking stick to the giant waterfall behind the lake.

All the animals flocked around and ran at the sight of Yvette's entrance, which made Danso a bit sad as he wanted them to stay.

"Do you want to know why they left?" asked Yvette.

Danso looked at Yvette and nodded.

"They left because of you," said Yvette directly.

"What? How? What did I do?" asked Danso.

"There," said Yvette pointing at Danso.

Danso tilted his head to the right in puzzlement.

"You could not control your soul energy output enough. You startled them," said Yvette.

Danso started to understand what Yvette was trying to tell him. The soul energy well in him was constantly leaking some energy to the outside as a passive release of soul energy. So due to that the animals became startled and ran away.

"If you can control it then you complete this class," said Yvette.

"How should I? Do you have any tips?" asked Danso.

"Nope, none, nada," said Yvette blatantly.

Danso stared at Yvette blankly.

"Then what should I do?" asked Danso.

"Struggle for a bit. Try to find your own solution," said Yvette.

Danso watched Yvette leave the grove or haven as he just stood there not knowing what to do. He decided that first he must find a place where he can concentrate fully. He decided the top of the waterfall was the perfect place to do so. He carefully climbed the waterfall's sides where it was slippery due to the ice and wet water and he slipped a few times.

Eventually he managed to reach the top while scratching his head trying to make his injuries hurt less.

He sat in a meditating pose and started to feel his soul again. The foreign feeling was starting to climb up throughout Danso's body as he tried to control it. He felt there were cracks around his soul and he went to fix them, but without a picture or exact comprehension on where and how to fix the cracks he felt it was impossible.

Until he got an idea.

"Delusion is truly the solution," thought Danso as he opened his eyes for a minute and closed them yet again.

Danso imagined his soul and visualised it as a well. He swam through the sea of soul energy inside the well and found some cracks. He tried fixing the cracks by using his hands to clog the walls and prevent any leakages but that failed.

There were far too many cracks as Danso's hands could not fix them all. He started to gasp for air as he started to drown in the pool of soul energy.

Danso felt his soul being sucked in by the higher 6th dimension as he felt his vision slowly fade.

His breath was slowly leaving him as his senses became non-responsive and he just let himself go. A suffocating feeling overcame Danso as he stopped struggling and he just flowed along with the colorless soul energy.

Then a person dragged Danso out and slapped him on the face causing him to jolt his eyes open.

"What…What in the world," thought Danso as he woke up to find himself still in the glacial haven.

Soon an avatar's body was starting to descend from the sky as Danso closed his eyes at the bright yellow light emitting from it. He was skeptical at first that it might be Xeno but after taking a glimpse of a golden crown and the traditional outfit he knew it must be the God of Sages.

"You really want to die that badly?" asked the God of Sages as he took his first steps into the land of the fourth dimension.

"How did you manifest an avatar? Doesn't that go against the laws and logic of the Dimensions?" asked Danso.

"Of course the stronger and more advanced your core is, the harder it becomes to descend back down into the lower dimensions," explained the God of Sages.

"Yes, I know. So how did you do it?" asked Danso.

"I basically am not here," said the God of Sages.

Danso did not understand what the God of Sages was saying so he repeated his question again and added a 'please elaborate further' to make sure this time he gets a more clear answer.

"Think of it like a video game, this is my avatar in the fourth dimension and I am all the way in the seventh dimension acting like a controller and my holy core is acting as the screen," explained the God of Sages.

"If it was that easy why didn't you do that earlier instead of destroying my soul well," complained Danso.

"Because I did not know I could," laughed the God of Sages before flying up and taking a glance at the entirety of the Frozen Everglades and looking up to see the Aurora.

Danso looked at the God of Sages come back down as he sat down.

"What were you doing," asked the God of Sages.

"I was trying to control my soul energy leakage to make stealth a much better option," said Danso.

"If the Sword God heard that you would be in big trouble," joked the God of Sages.

"You could say due to me meeting Chiro Zanami I've become less 'religious' I never was to be honest and I only did not like him because of the fact his family went through punishments and horrors because of Chiro while he ran away and became a Calamity," said Danso.

"If he tells you one day also tell me," said the God of Sages.

"What should I tell you and what will he tell me?" asked Danso.

"The reason why he clearly went for power over family, friends, etc," said the God of Sages.

"Alright…I wonder how he even got that strong in the first place. Must have been lucky," said Danso.

"He never was. He got chosen by the Goddess of Stars," said the God of Sages.

"Elaborate," said Danso.

"Can't do sorry," grinned the God of Sages.

There was a silence in the air before Danso looked at the God of Sages before he responded.

"Will you give me help on how to prevent more leakages?" asked Danso.

"It can't be a permanent fix because then you can never release your soul energy output and your aura ever again. It has to be a temporary fix or like a door and the way you do so is by mastering an ability called Essence," explained the God of Sages.

"What is Essence?" asked Danso.
