'She never intended to kill us…?'
Ivy turned to the others, her expression composed.
"The investigation is nearly complete," she announced.
"We just need to locate the last individual, Ariana. Once we capture her… this mission will be over, and humanity can finally stabilize."
A wave of cheers erupted.
Soon after, they began their journey back to the base.
Along the way, they continued curing as many zombies as they could, guiding the newly restored humans back with them.
Days passed.
Then weeks.
Time slipped by almost unnoticed, like sand through fingers.
And gradually… more and more zombies returned to being human, their vacant eyes regaining clarity, their lifeless bodies rediscovering warmth.
The man responsible for using his communication power to contact other bases did not remain idle for even a moment.
'There must be more…,' he would think, and travel miles to reach other bases.
