Helena nodded. "From our experience, if you could recall a past life… or be reborn… then there's a high chance it was the being's DNA that made it possible."
For the first time, Ivy looked at them and felt that her parents were genuinely trying to protect her.
She shook her head slightly. "Maybe it's not that simple," she said.
Seeing their confusion, she continued, her voice low.
"There are memories I can't access. Missing pieces. I think they're hiding something important. Maybe this life will be different. Maybe the apocalypse will end soon. Or maybe it will bring something more dangerous."
She fell silent after that.
Turning away, Ivy walked into the bathroom and shut the door behind her. She didn't want to face them anymore.
Even though everything they had done was for her sake, resentment still bubbled painfully in her chest.
