Chapter 15 - CHAPTER 9:PART II

In the celestial expanse where time and reality bent to divine will, Equinox gathered Kaelan before a swirling tapestry of stars and history.

"You must understand," Equinox intoned, his voice layered with echoes of past and future. "The Soulfire is not merely power. It is a force of existence itself. And in the wrong hands, it can consume everything."

The stars twisted, forming images of Kaelan's ancestors—warriors wreathed in golden-red fire, their power shaking the heavens. Yet, as the images shifted, so too did the destruction they wrought. Civilizations turned to dust, gods fell from their thrones, and existence itself trembled under their might.

Kaelan's breath caught in his throat. He had always known his lineage was feared, but to see it laid bare—to see how the Soulfire had nearly unmade the world—was something else entirely.

Equinox's gaze bore into him. "This is why the gods sought to erase your bloodline. The Soulfire does not obey balance. It devours it.The Soulfire you have has been refined, yours is the only one that isn't corrupted.....but it's purpose of dark energy still lives in you."

Kaelan clenched his fists. "Then why let me live?"

Elderion's deep voice rumbled. "Because you are the last. And the choice now falls to you. Will you master this power, or will it master you?"

Before Kaelan could answer, a sudden, violent ripple of darkness surged across the divine space.

Equinox's eyes flickered dangerously. "He's coming."

A rift tore open in reality itself, and from its depths, Sovereign Kaelan emerged, flanked by his monstrous duplicates, their eyes burning with unholy fire.

A grin stretched across Sovereign Kaelan's face. "I told you, brother." His voice dripped with mockery and menace. "You can't outrun what you were meant to be."

Kaelan inhaled sharply, his flames roaring to life.

The war had begun.

Sovereign Kaelan stepped forward, the weight of his newfound power heavy in the air. His aura crackled like an unstoppable storm, his Darksoulfire seething with an intensity that even the gods could feel. The duplicates behind him mirrored his every movement, their flames darkened and sharp, much like the soul of their master.

Equinox raised his hand, a barrier of divine light shimmering into existence between the two Kaelans, but Sovereign Kaelan's dark fire pierced through it with a single swipe, the light dissolving like dust in the wind. The divine protector's face hardened, his eyes narrowing as he assessed the situation.

"You're not the Kaelan we knew," Equinox said, his voice calm but full of authority. "This isn't you, Sovereign. You've been consumed by the darkness. This power—it's not the one that will save you."

Sovereign Kaelan smirked, his eyes glowing like molten obsidian. "I've never felt more alive. You and your gods, you speak of balance, of purpose. But in the end, it's about power—the kind I wield, and the kind you can't control."

Kaelan took a step forward, his flames flickering but controlled, the golden-red light now mixed with the remnants of his ancestors' energy—soulfire, both pure and destructive. He wasn't just fighting for his life anymore. He was fighting for his very essence.

"You've given in to the darkness," Kaelan said quietly, his voice full of regret, but also defiance. "But I haven't lost myself—not yet."

Sovereign Kaelan's grin widened. "And that's where you're wrong. I am you. The true Kaelan. The one who understands what it means to seize power, to bend the world to your will. Your hesitation, your morality—it's a weakness. And you'll fall to it, just like every hero who thought they could stand against fate."

The moment the two Kaelans locked eyes, the atmosphere seemed to freeze. Time itself held its breath.

Without warning, Sovereign Kaelan raised his scythe, the weapon gleaming darkly in the godless light. With a single movement, he sent a surge of corrupted flame toward Kaelan. The attack was swift, cutting through the air like a blade of death.

But Kaelan didn't flinch. Instead, his body ignited with blinding light, his flames swirling in a protective vortex. The two powers collided—Sovereign Kaelan's dark energy against Kaelan's golden-red Soulfire. The shockwave from their clash rattled the ground, the very fabric of reality trembling beneath their feet.

"I will never become you," Kaelan shouted, his voice a roar of defiance. "This is my path. I will choose who I am, not you. Not anyone."

Sovereign Kaelan's laughter echoed through the battleground, mocking, cruel. "You can't fight what you are. You'll break under the weight of your own bloodline. The Soulfire always consumes those who wield it."

As Sovereign Kaelan raised his scythe for another strike, the demon duplicates advanced, their eyes burning with the same fire that now filled his own veins. But just as they were about to attack, a sudden wave of power surged from Kaelan's core. His flames intensified, growing with a radiant energy that shook the heavens themselves.

"Not today," Kaelan growled.

With a single thrust of his hand, the air around him distorted, the Soulfire erupting outward in a blinding flare. It consumed the duplicates in an instant, turning them to ash. Sovereign Kaelan staggered back, a flash of shock crossing his face as his clones were annihilated before his eyes.

"Impossible…" Sovereign Kaelan hissed, his grip on his scythe tightening. "You're still weak. You can't possibly defeat me."

But Kaelan's flames had reached their peak. The energy coursing through his body had transformed—his Soulfire now burned with the strength of his ancestors, a power forged not by malice but by the will to protect. He was no longer just a reflection of his bloodline; he was its master.

"I am not a tool to be used," Kaelan said, his voice steady, unwavering. "I choose my destiny. And it's one that doesn't involve you."

With that, Kaelan's flame surged again, forming a blinding wall of light that slammed into Sovereign Kaelan, pushing him back. The ground cracked and splintered as Sovereign Kaelan struggled to hold his ground, but the force was overwhelming. His dark flames faltered, flickering in the face of Kaelan's brilliance.

The Demon King's advisor, Malgrith, watched from the shadows, his eyes narrowing. "This is unexpected," he murmured. "He's become more than we anticipated."

But Sovereign Kaelan refused to yield. "This isn't over!" he roared, his eyes glowing with fierce determination. He raised his hand again, the scythe crackling with dark power, ready to strike once more.

But before he could make his move, a voice echoed from the distance, a voice that resonated with divine power.

"You've gone too far, Sovereign Kaelan," Equinox's voice boomed, his presence filling the air. "The Soulfire is not your to wield, and neither is Kaelan's fate. He will not fall to your darkness."

Elderion stepped forward, his form shimmering with radiant light, his wings unfurled in a grand display of divine power. "You, Sovereign Kaelan, have lost your way. Return to the path of balance—or face the wrath of the gods."

Sovereign Kaelan's laughter filled the air once more, but this time, it lacked conviction. He could sense the overwhelming power of the gods closing in, the true weight of his actions pressing upon him. But he was not ready to surrender. Not yet.

"I will never bow to you," Sovereign Kaelan hissed, his grip tightening on his scythe. "And neither will he." He pointed toward Kaelan, whose flames burned brighter than ever before.

The sky split apart as the gods emerged from all horizons, their divine presence illuminating the battlefield with an overwhelming radiance. From the east, the Celestial Empress descended, her flowing robes shimmering like the dawn. From the west, the Warfather strode forth, his golden armor gleaming with the light of countless victories. From the north and south, the Twin Keepers of Order and Chaos arrived, their auras entwined in perfect balance. And at the heart of them all, Equinox and Elderion stood as the arbiters of fate.

Sovereign Kaelan snarled, his darkened form barely holding together as he prepared for one last stand. His scythe trembled in his grasp, the weight of divine judgment pressing down upon him like an unseen force. "You think you can erase me?" he spat, his voice raw with defiance. "I am the true heir of darkness! I am power incarnate!"

Equinox raised his hand, and a brilliant beam of light erupted from his palm, searing through the air like the dawn breaking through eternal night. The other gods followed, their divine energies converging into a single, colossal pillar of pure celestial power. The heavens themselves trembled as the combined force of the gods' will engulfed Sovereign Kaelan, piercing through his very essence.

The demon's screams echoed across the void, his form twisting as the Soulfire within him was torn away, piece by piece. His once-mighty flames, fueled by the Demon King's corruption, flickered and died. His scythe shattered, disintegrating into nothingness. His flesh, once imbued with dark power, crumbled like ash caught in a divine storm. The energy sustaining his existence was being stripped from him, and for the first time, fear crept into his eyes.

"No… NO!" Sovereign Kaelan gasped, falling to his knees as the last of his power was ripped away. His body, once wreathed in unstoppable darkness, was now burnt, broken, and hollow. His crimson eyes dulled, his form reduced to a mere shadow of its former self.

Silence fell over the battlefield as the divine light receded. The gods stood tall, their presence unwavering as they gazed upon the defeated figure before them. The ground beneath Sovereign Kaelan was scorched, the very essence of darkness burned away by divine retribution.

Equinox stepped forward, his golden gaze filled with both judgment and finality. "Your existence was a mockery of the balance," he declared, his voice resonating through the heavens. "You were born from corruption, fed by greed, and guided by destruction. And now, you are nothing."

Sovereign Kaelan trembled, his fingers clawing at the dirt beneath him as he struggled to comprehend his downfall. His power was gone. His fire was gone. He was nothing.

Elderion raised his scepter, his voice calm but unyielding. "The sentence has been passed. You will never again rise as a threat. Your fate is sealed."

Kaelan watched from a distance, his expression unreadable. He felt no triumph in this moment, only a strange emptiness. Sovereign Kaelan had been his darkness given form, a manifestation of what he could have become. And now, that part of him lay in ruin before the gods.

Sovereign Kaelan, his body weak and broken, forced out a ragged breath. He lifted his hollow gaze toward Kaelan, his lips curling into a bitter, empty smile. "You think you've won?" he rasped. "This isn't over… Not while he still watches."

The words sent a chill through Kaelan's spine. He didn't need to ask who he was. The Demon King. The true architect of all this chaos. The battle was far from over.

Equinox, unmoved by the defeated shade's words, extended his hand. "Be gone."

With a final pulse of divine energy, Sovereign Kaelan's essence was shattered, his form dissolving into scattered embers, carried away by the wind. The darkness that had threatened to consume Kaelan was no more. But as the gods turned their gaze toward him, he knew this was only the beginning.

The war against the Demon King had truly begun.

The rest of the team stood in stunned silence, their eyes fixed on the divine spectacle that had just unfolded before them. The sheer overwhelming power of the gods had shaken the very air, their combined radiance leaving an imprint on reality itself. Even the hardened warriors among them—Orin, Thorne, and Draven—felt the weight of such absolute might pressing down on their spirits.

Eira, her hands still faintly glowing with residual magic, swallowed hard. "This... this is the power of the gods?" she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.

Kain, his usual composure wavering, clenched his fists. "That wasn't just power," he said darkly. "That was judgment itself."

Seraphina, usually cold and detached, narrowed her eyes, watching as the last embers of Sovereign Kaelan faded into nothing. "They erased him like he was nothing more than an inconvenience," she muttered. "A being who could have challenged the heavens… reduced to dust in an instant."

Elara had been silent the whole time, her gaze flickering between Kaelan and the gods. She could feel the tension radiating from Kaelan's body, the way his fingers twitched ever so slightly. Was he afraid? Or was he… angry?

Kaelan exhaled slowly, his golden-red flames pulsing gently around his body. He knew this display was meant to serve as a reminder—both to him and to the others—that the gods were not to be defied. But it also made one thing painfully clear: if they truly wanted to, the gods could erase anything.

Equinox stepped forward, his divine aura pulsing with authority as he looked upon Kaelan and his companions. "This was but a fragment of what we are capable of," he decreed, his voice echoing across the land. "And now, a greater decision must be made."

Elderion raised his scepter, his piercing gaze sweeping over the group. "The Demon King has been allowed to fester in his domain for far too long. His influence spreads like a plague, tainting the balance of all realms. He is no longer a force that can be ignored."

The Celestial Empress, her voice as serene as the stars, spoke next. "Thus, we present two paths. Either he is contained—sealed away so that his corruption may never reach the mortal world again… or we take a more decisive course."

The Warfather, his expression grim, finished the declaration. "We destroy the Demon Realm itself."

A heavy silence fell upon the group. The very idea of eradicating an entire realm was almost too vast to comprehend.

Keyara, usually lighthearted, shook her head in disbelief. "You're talking about wiping out an entire world. That's not just the Demon King—it's everything that lives there."

Draven's expression darkened. "Even if they serve him, not all demons deserve that fate."

Thorne, his voice steady but firm, crossed his arms. "And if we don't act, how long before his corruption reaches us anyway?"

Elara turned to Kaelan, her violet eyes filled with concern. "Kaelan… what do you think?"

Kaelan remained silent for a long moment, his gaze locked onto Equinox. He knew what this meant. The gods had finally acknowledged him—but now, they were asking him to decide the fate of an entire world. A world that, until recently, he had nearly been consumed by himself.

His grip tightened around the handle of his scythe.

Contain the Demon King… or destroy everything he ruled over?

The fate of the Demon Realm rested in his hands.
