Chapter 330: Chu Feng: As a Great Sage, How Can I Be Distracted in Cultivation?

"This… this is the Light of the Great Dao!"

Great Sage Jiaoyang stood frozen in place as she looked at the radiance enveloping all of Miaomiao Mountain. Having stayed in the Sacred Courtyard for countless ages, she had seen the Light of the Great Dao more than once, but each time it had only been summoned by a Saint.

Yet now she saw it here on Miaomiao Mountain. How could she not be astonished?

The nine Chiefs were equally shocked. They all set aside what they were doing, their eyes locked on the Light of the Great Dao before them.

When they confirmed that the light was radiating from the direction of the Miscellaneous Dao Institute, their last trace of arrogance dissolved completely.

Zhang Ruocheng muttered, "Why… why did I have to come to the Secular Institute? Would it not have been better to remain in the Sacred Courtyard?"

The same thought weighed heavily on the other eight Chiefs as well.

Their purpose in this journey was to become Half-Saints, to let the world witness the strength of the Sacred Courtyard's prodigies.

Yet in just a few short years, their Dao hearts had been battered again and again. If it continued, they feared their Dao hearts might shatter entirely.

The Dean gazed at the light. Though his face remained calm, ripples stirred in his heart as he murmured, "This child Xiaofeng grows ever more unfathomable. A pity for those children from the Sacred Courtyard—they truly suffer."

The elders and stewards who knew Chu Feng immediately flew toward Miaomiao Mountain, eager to see what earth-shaking feat Chu Chief had accomplished to summon the Light of the Great Dao.

In Wendao Academy, every cultivator—including Great Sage Jinchi—bathed in the radiance, hoping to comprehend truths of the Great Dao within.

Chu Feng looked at the dazzling glow emitted by the Dao Jade and murmured, "It seems this time I may have made quite a stir."

He was about to inscribe the remaining Dao Jades with Dao Scripture when he sensed that the light itself contained truths of the Great Dao.

He could not let such truths go to waste.

So Chu Feng sat cross-legged to cultivate. By the time he opened his eyes, night had already fallen.

This session of cultivation had given him two additional points of Great Dao truth, filling him with an urge to write a book and ascend as a Saint.

Just then, a mechanical voice rang in his mind:

"Great Sage Jinchi, Bingyan, Great Sage Yishan, and Great Sage Jiaoyang each comprehended one point of Great Dao truth through the Dao Light. Rewarding host with +40 Great Dao truth…"

Damn!

Chu Feng immediately cast aside the impulse to write. Guiding others to grow stronger was the true path. How could he afford to be distracted? Wasn't it better to slack off?

Sweeping his divine sense outward, he found the Dao Light had vanished and many people had already gathered within the Miscellaneous Dao Institute. He decided to step outside.

"We pay our respects to Chief Chu."

The elders and stewards of Wendao Academy cupped their hands to Chu Feng. They had come only to investigate, yet each had reaped unexpected gains.

Though they had not broken through in cultivation, they had advanced nonetheless.

"There's no need for such courtesy," said Chu Feng, his gaze falling on Xiao Chen and Cao Youqian.

"Xiao Chen, Youqian, did you not comprehend anything from the Dao Light?"

The two exchanged glances, then answered with shame, "Reporting to master, this disciple's comprehension is lacking and we were unable to grasp Great Dao truth from the light."

At those words, silence fell over everyone present.

They wanted to say, "You two are already so strong, why such false modesty? Who here could even defeat you?"

Fortunately, Great Sage Yishan appeared to break the awkward atmosphere. He cupped his hands toward Chu Feng. "Many thanks to Brother Chu's guidance. This old one has taken another step on the path toward Half-Saint."

Chu Feng replied, "Brother Yishan, you jest. You are Xiao Chen's guardian. As one of Miaomiao Mountain, this was naturally your due."

"This old one will certainly protect Xiao Chen with all my strength."

Great Sage Yishan paused, then explained further, "Brother, Xiao Chen and Youqian are not lacking in talent. Rather, the light was too profound for them. Even if they could glean some insight, it would only be the surface. To truly grasp Great Dao truth from such light, one must already have comprehended Great Dao truth."

The elders and stewards once again fell silent. They all felt Yishan was speaking about themselves, yet had no proof.

"So that's how it is."

Chu Feng did not dwell on the matter further and shifted the topic. "Did you all come here just to look at that light?"

Elder Bai stepped forward. "Chief Chu, we also wish to see what kind of sacred object could radiate such Dao Light."

"Merely a scripture that calms the mind."

Chu Feng smiled brightly as he spoke.

Hearing this, no one found it strange. After all, Chief Chu was versed in ancient and modern, learned and well-read. For him to write such a work of the Great Dao was nothing unusual.

Great Sage Jinchi asked without thinking, "Brother, could we have a look as well?"

Chu Feng replied in exasperation, "I only just inscribed one copy on the Dao Jade. Wait until I finish before asking."

Everyone was perceptive enough to drop the matter and take their leave.

Soon, the entire courtyard was left with only Chu Feng and Bing Yan. Chu Feng turned toward the darkness and said lightly, "Daoist Jiaoyang, you've been watching outside for so long, do you still have other matters?"

Before his words faded, a fiery red figure landed beside him.

It was Jiaoyang Da Xian, who had remained hidden until now. She withdrew her natural aura and bowed. "Many thanks to Daoist Chu for today's guidance. Should Daoist ever need something of me, just give the word."

She wasn't being polite. In less than a year at Miaomiao Mountain, she had already grasped a trace of Great Dao truth. Normally, even in ten years, one might not achieve this.

Through today's experience, Jiaoyang Da Xian was certain she would definitely attain sainthood here.

Chu Feng smiled. "No need to be so formal. You're a senior of Dagan, which makes you one of our own. If you need guidance in cultivation, you may come to me."

Hearing this, Jiaoyang Da Xian's eyes brightened. What she had long hoped for was achieved so easily. She said joyfully, "Then I thank Daoist first."

After a brief exchange, she disappeared into the night.

Chu Feng watched her leave, then turned, only to meet Bing Yan's scrutinizing gaze.

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

Her tone was calm. "Husband, do you fancy Jiaoyang Da Xian?"

"Why would you ask that?" Chu Feng looked genuinely puzzled.

"Because you rarely offer guidance so casually," Bing Yan replied.

"Hahaha." Chu Feng laughed. "You're overthinking it. I just enjoy teaching others, that's all."

"Truly?"

Bing Yan paused deliberately, then said, "I was thinking of helping you by playing matchmaker. But since you have no feelings for her, then forget it."

"I, Chu, am never one to lust after beauty," he said solemnly. "It's always beauty that lusts after me."

"..."

Bing Yan was exasperated, but thinking it over, it was indeed the case. She quickly changed the subject. "Husband, may I see that scripture?"

"Of course. Come."

Chu Feng wrapped an arm around her slender waist and led her to the study.

Inside, he handed her the Dao Jade. Bing Yan accepted it, swept it with her spiritual sense, and saw characters shining with Great Dao truth dancing within.

Only after a long while did she set it down. Glancing at the other Dao Jades on the desk, she turned to him. "Husband, are you planning to copy the contents of this one into the others?"

Chu Feng nodded. "That's the plan. Otherwise, at my current pace, recording another scripture of equal level might take a year or more."

"Then… do you need my help?" she asked.

"You can help by making tea for me, and maybe massaging my shoulders," Chu Feng said with a grin.

"Mm."

With that, Bing Yan turned to prepare tea, while Chu Feng continued his work…
