Chapter 76 - The Weight of Sins

"Are you losing your mind, Manuel?" Angely snapped, glaring at the man in front of her.

He didn't respond.

"Gosh, you're incredibly stupid," she muttered under her breath, helpless and enraged. The child who was supposed to be their hope—an escape from Leah's wrath—had already fled.

"Why am I stuck with such idiotic people?!"

"You're one of them, Angely," Felicia shot back coldly.

"You should've been the one to find a way out, Felicia! We could've been long gone by now if you weren't so useless," Angely hissed.

"Shut up, Angely! Your voice is getting on my nerves!" Felicia snapped.

"How could we know they'd discover the truth? Who knows what fate Leah has in store for us? Let's all rot in hell together," Felicia added with a bitter laugh.

"If you hadn't gotten involved with Manuel's father back then, none of this would've happened! I wouldn't be tangled in this nightmare if you had been a decent woman," Angely spat.

Felicia cursed in frustration. "Oh, really? If it weren't for us, you wouldn't have climbed the social ladder like you did, Angely."

"I don't even acknowledge Raymundo's grandchild. If you hadn't been such a fool, maybe our lives would've stayed peaceful!"

They hurled blame and regret at each other like daggers, their voices echoing through the room—until someone else spoke.

"Oh? At each other's throats already?"

Angely turned, and her face twisted in dread.

"You!" she pointed at Leah. "None of this would've happened if you hadn't left San Mateo. You're the root of all this! If you hadn't abandoned me, I wouldn't have met that demon!"

Leah raised her brow. "Is that so? Listen, Angely—you shaped your own fate. Just as I shaped mine. Don't blame me for the consequences of your choices."

"Don't accuse me," Leah said calmly. "And don't worry. You'll soon be with the demon you speak of. Looking forward to seeing him again, Angely?"

Leah smiled chillingly.

Angely felt a sudden shift—the darkness wrapped around her. She thought it was her chance to escape, but when she looked down, a chain was locked around her leg. Leah only shook her head and grinned.

Then they were suddenly inside the hospital. They slipped past the doors and entered a room where a lifeless body lay.

Raymundo.

Angely's thoughts screamed in silence.

Your favorite child is here with you now, Leah whispered. Angely tried to run, but the chain bound her still.

"Leah…" came a voice.

Can they see us? she wondered.

"Angely," the voice called again.

"Save me," he pleaded.

Angely couldn't speak. She turned and saw Leah smirking. With a snap of her fingers, Sheila suddenly appeared.

"Sis?" Angely gasped.

"What did you do, Leah?" she asked in shock.

"Just a little reunion," Leah replied nonchalantly. "And of course, you have more guests. Are you three excited?"

Angely could feel Leah playing with them again. "Don't be afraid, Sheila. I'm here. Don't look at that woman," she reassured.

Suddenly, the ground beneath them opened up. Angely found herself back in the mansion where she and Leah once faced off.

"They're here," Leah said, as hands clawed out from the earth.

Raymundo stood paralyzed in fear as the dead emerged.

"Angely, get rid of them!" he shouted.

Angely realized with horror that this was where the innocent maids—victims of Raymundo's massacre to silence the Martinez family—had been buried.

"Sis, what is this?" Sheila asked in a trembling voice.

"You don't know? Ask your sister. This is her little playground," Leah replied.

Raymundo looked at Angely with desperation.

Leah laughed, clearly enjoying the chaos. Angely remembered every wrong she had done.

"Leah! Don't involve Sheila in this!" Angely pleaded. "It's us you want—don't drag my sister into this!"

"Oh really?" Leah raised an eyebrow.

Angely turned and saw Sheila writhing in pain, as though pregnant.

"What will you do, Angely? Save this woman's baby, or let her suffer? Choose."

"Innocent? Sure, your sister is innocent. But so was the child I carried—eight months in my womb—and you killed it. Now, tell me, Angely. Decide."

Leah's eyes blazed with fire.

Angely watched as her sister was forced to relive Leah's past torment. Sheila's face twisted in pain.

"Sis! Help me! Sister!" Sheila cried out, reaching for her.

"Abort that baby! That woman is cursed!" Raymundo's voice shouted with madness.

Angely tried to reach Sheila, but the chain pulled her away.

Then, they were in another place—an empty lot. Two coffins lay in front of her.

"Choose who you will save," Leah whispered.

"Sheila!" Angely screamed, frantically digging the earth as Sheila's body was swallowed into the coffin.

"Sis! Help! Help!" Sheila wailed.

"Enough! Please! Not my sister!" Angely cried. Her hands clawed at the dirt.

Leah only laughed.

"Happy now that you've gotten your revenge, Leah?! Are you satisfied?!" Angely shouted in rage.

"Revenge?" Leah echoed, laughing cruelly. "Are you happy seeing your loved one suffer?"

Gunshots rang out.

Angely watched in horror as Sheila's body was riddled with bullets, blood spilling across the ground.

She screamed.

In a flash, they were back in the hospital. Angely held her sister tightly—Sheila was broken, traumatized by the experience, and unable to speak.

When they returned to the real world, Angely was back in her cell. She cried, unable to form words.

"We'll play again, Angely," Leah whispered.

Angely only sobbed. Her weakness had always been Sheila.

Felicia silently watched her, letting out a heavy sigh and shaking her head at the shattered woman in front of her.
