The vast battlefield fell into an eerie silence. Black Zetsu's spittle-flecked pronouncements and finger-swearing left everyone hesitant and uncertain.
"Fine, you still don't believe me? I was going to keep this hidden until the end, but now I have to reveal it early," Black Zetsu's expression shifted, and he gritted his teeth, producing a scroll and handing it to Orochimaru.
The sudden action stunned everyone. Orochimaru, however, reacted as if he'd seen a priceless treasure, his eyes gleaming.
"Is this the Uchiha Madara cell sample you promised me?" Orochimaru quickly took the scroll, his scarlet tongue flicking across his slightly dry lips. A fervent gleam appeared in his eyes.
Orochimaru's involvement in this mission stemmed from two desires: the improved Mokuton DNA sequence sample from Black Zetsu, and a cell sample from Uchiha Madara, the legendary figure second only to Hashirama Senju, the God of Shinobi.
In Orochimaru's eyes, possessing both legendary samples, along with the modified Mokuton DNA, would allow him to perform Edo Tensei that produced near-perfect copies with absolute control.
Black Zetsu's willingness to hand over Madara's DNA sample so readily was completely unexpected.
"Hmph, you understand Edo Tensei, don't you? Just summon Madara and you'll see if what I said is true," Black Zetsu coldly snorted, slightly displeased.
"But I warn you, don't underestimate Madara's power. Be careful he doesn't break free from your control."
Orochimaru seemingly ignored the warning, his eyes fixated on the scroll, his right hand gently caressing its surface.
With a sharp whoosh, the scroll exploded, revealing a White Zetsu, devoid of intelligence, lying limp on the ground like a fish.
This sudden event stunned many.
Instinctively glancing at the other half of Black Zetsu, even Konan, standing beside Kai, nervously asked, "Kai, did he cut himself in half?"
"But that doesn't seem right. If he cut himself in half, what is the other black half? Is it his son?"
Kai almost burst out laughing at this.
Black Zetsu's face darkened, and he glared murderously. If Kai weren't there, he would have torn Konan to shreds.
After glaring fiercely at Konan, Black Zetsu coldly addressed Orochimaru, "I was planning to use this against that brat, but he showed up uninvited.
Now, with your abilities, you should be able to summon them and kill him!"
Danzo and Hanzo looked at Orochimaru. They were intrigued by Black Zetsu's confidence in killing Kai.
After all, if they could lessen their effort and still achieve their goal, why not?
"Rest assured, with the Mokuton DNA sample you provided, my control over Edo Tensei has doubled," Orochimaru, regaining his composure amidst his fervor, licked his lips and looked at Kai.
"If he's the opponent, they're worth using."
Orochimaru produced another scroll. With swirling white mist, another sacrificial offering, sealed within the scroll, was summoned.
Konan and the others were stunned. Yahiko, unable to contain himself, rushed to Kai's side, urgently asking, "Kai, thank you for saving us".
But this is a trap. When I first met Orochimaru, I sensed his wickedness. "His sudden use of human sacrifices is suspicious."
Nagato, who had been silent since recovering from the genjutsu, also looked anxious.
After all, they had created this situation.
Kai had saved them, and they didn't want him to be killed because of them.
"Hehe, don't worry, Orochimaru's tricks are limited," Kai chuckled. "Besides the immortality technique, it's Edo Tensei".
If I'm not mistaken, you're planning to summon Madara and the First Hokage to deal with me."
"I wasn't particularly interested, but I recently learned something new. Ordinary people can't spar with me, so they'll be good punching bags."
The teasing tone in Kai's words caused Orochimaru's face to twitch.
In his eyes, summoning two legendary figures using Edo Tensei was incredibly impressive.
It should have elicited shock, awe, fear, and a dramatic atmosphere.
He should have at least scared someone to death.
Yet, what should have been a spectacular moment was rendered mundane and insignificant by Kai's nonchalant attitude. It felt like a mere side note.
"Hurry up, I'm getting impatient," Kai raised an eyebrow, urging Orochimaru.
"If you can't do it, I will."
His words exploded in Orochimaru's mind like thunder.
Kai's nine-tomoe Sharingan spun, blood-red chakra surging, space distorting.
The two sacrificial offerings near Orochimaru were swallowed by a vortex and vanished. They reappeared before Kai.
"That's Space-Time Ninjutsu!" Orochimaru was stunned, then exclaimed, "Stop him! He also knows Edo Tensei!"
Danzo and the others were dumbfounded. They had expected to use two legendary figures to kill Kai, but their plans had backfired.
If Kai summoned Madara and Hashirama, they were doomed!
