"Lapdog?"
The term hung in the air, causing a collective stunned silence, Danzo included. He clearly didn't understand the modern slang.
"Don't understand?" Kai smiled, his tone smooth yet cutting.
"It means they screwed your mother, and you're still kneeling, thanking them."
"You claim to want to be Hokage, yet you let them bully you, still fawning over them. Do you have any shame?"
The crude language was unexpected, yet the hall erupted in cheers.
"Yes! That's right! Lapdog Danzo!"
"A Konoha citizen worshipping outsiders? Disgusting!"
"Lapdog Danzo is perfect! This Uchiha brat is skilled and his words are cutting. The Uchiha have some promising youngsters."
Moments before, Danzo's collusion with Orochimaru and the three villages, along with his arrogant demands, had fueled resentment. Kai's words provided a much-needed release.
Jiraiya, however, remained grim. They'd won the verbal battle, but the three villages were openly hostile. Resolving this would be extremely difficult.
"Kai," Jiraiya began, but Kai interrupted with a carefree laugh.
"Itachi, come here!"
Itachi hesitated before hurrying over. "Brother, what's the plan? I'll support you!" He raised a small fist, his youthful naiveté evident.
He hadn't yet fully grasped the weight of his clan's responsibilities.
Kai ruffled Itachi's hair. "I've decided. The three villages are just a sideshow. An eye for an eye. Hesitation goes against my code."
He smiled at Danzo. "Danzo, you cling to your ideals, but they won't stop me."
His words baffled everyone, including the three villages and Danzo himself. Danzo's heart sank, a glint of fury in his eyes.
"Uchiha brat, I know you're skilled, but let's see how you escape this. You're trapped!"
"The killer of the Mizukage must pay! You will die today!" the Kirigakure elder added.
The atmosphere crackled with tension. All eyes were on Kai, desperate to see how he would resolve this.
Instead, a warm smile played on his lips, and his next words sent a fresh wave of shock through the hall.
"Who wants to take his head?"
"I've been waiting for that," a mocking voice echoed.
Kisame Hoshigaki lunged forward. He drew Samehada and, before anyone could react, slashed at the Kirigakure elder.
Psh!
The elder's head flew off, spraying blood. Before others could react, Zabuza Momochi's Kubikiribōchō claimed their heads as well. Three heads rolled onto the blood-soaked floor.
The hall fell silent. The Seven Ninja Swordsmen, once Kirigakure's elite, had turned on their own elder and two comrades. And it was Konoha's Blood Asura who had orchestrated it.
"We'll take these," Zabuza said, picking up the other two swords. With their own swords, the Seven Swords of the Mist were now in their possession. The Seven Ninja Swordsmen were effectively disbanded.
"Let's go," Kai said, dusting himself off, calmly walking towards the exit.
"Brother, are you leaving? Can I come?" Itachi grabbed Kai's sleeve.
Kai patted his hand. "Itachi, this path is dangerous. You should choose a different one."
In the original story, Itachi carried the burden of Konoha's mission and the annihilation of his clan, struggling as a rogue ninja.
Since Itachi called him brother, Kai wouldn't hesitate to change his destiny. With his system, it was simple. He felt a sense of knowing about the path ahead.
"Kai, stop!" Fugaku appeared, his face grim. "Do you know what you're saying?"
"What does it sound like?" Kai smiled, patting Fugaku's shoulder and walking past him. "I'm defecting from the start."
"Let's go!"
With those words, Kai vanished. Kisame and Zabuza, prepared for this, used their water-based Shunshin to its fullest extent.
The stunned crowd finally reacted.
"Chase them! Konoha's barrier is sealed; they can't escape!" Danzo roared. He'd always been the one manipulating events, yet he felt completely outmaneuvered.
The three villages' combined assault had been effortlessly dismantled, and Kai had simply declared his defection and walked away.
A, Killer Bee, and the others immediately moved. Kurotsuchi led his forces in pursuit. Kirigakure, leaderless, fell into temporary disarray before recovering and joining the chase.
The scene descended into chaos. Jiraiya turned to the Third Hokage. "Teacher, what do we do? That kid wasn't joking."
"Chase them. We'll decide later," the Third Hokage said grimly. "Have the Anbu arrest Danzo and Orochimaru.
Minato and Tsunade, pursue Kai. If necessary, delay the three villages. I'll try to reopen the gate seals as quickly as possible."
