Chapter 266 - Chapter 266: Luna: The Mysterious Dylan is the Best for Exploring

Chapter 266: Luna: The Mysterious Dylan is the Best for Exploring

Orell frowned. "The place you're talking about…" His eyes flickered, and he stopped mid-sentence.

Dylan glanced at him. "What, is that where your tribe lives and resides now?"

Orell's eyes widened. "How did you know?!"

Dylan's mouth twitched. He was afraid that if he spent any more time with this centaur, his own intelligence would be affected. He didn't even need to use Legilimency or any other spells. Just by looking at the centaur's face, he knew what place Orell was thinking of but didn't want to talk about.

Dylan rolled his eyes. "Since the unicorn went to your centaur tribe's home, don't you know anything about it?"

Orell paused, thought for a moment, and his expression shifted. Seeing his face, Dylan realized that this guy did know something, but the other centaurs might have been hiding the unicorn's presence and deliberately keeping Orell in the dark. This suggested that not many centaurs knew about the unicorn's situation.

"You still claim I'm the one who killed the unicorn. You centaurs are sheltering an injured unicorn and hiding it, and I have no idea what you're trying to do."

Although Orell also suspected that his family had hidden the unicorn, he bristled when Dylan spoke ill of his people. "How can you say that about them? Maybe they're hiding the injured unicorn to help it heal and to keep the person who hurt it from finding it!"

Dylan pursed his lips and nodded. "Mm, not bad. You've gotten a lot better at making excuses in such a short time."

Orell's mouth twitched.

Luna let out a small laugh. Orell's momentum died down again, and he mumbled, "No wonder… No wonder my brother Bane hasn't shown his face in a while. I went to him to teach me how to shoot an arrow, but he kept making excuses."

Dylan looked at him. "So what do you say now? Can you take us to your place and invite us for some tea or something?"

Orell immediately shook his head. "No way!" But as soon as he said that, his eyes darted to the golden-haired girl with thick hair standing next to Dylan. "This… I have to go back and ask the others first. I can't make a decision on my own."

"You centaurs have to ask everyone for permission to bring a friend home for a visit?" Dylan let out a breath. "You truly have no freedom. I've never seen a more pitiful intelligent race, and yet you centaurs still claim to love and pursue freedom?"

Well… that wasn't entirely true. He had seen more pitiful intelligent races.

Orell got angry. "We call this following the rules! Our home belongs to all centaurs, not just me! Of course, I have to ask for everyone else's opinion before I can bring someone back!"

Dylan pursed his lips and shrugged. "In that case, go and ask them. Of course, I don't think your elders will agree, so I'll give you a month. See if you can get them to let us visit."

Orell was a bit more clear-headed now. He huffed. "You're not my friend, so why should I invite you to my home?"

"Oh, you don't think we're friends, so that means we're enemies, right?" Dylan looked at him.

Orell's eyes widened. What did he mean? Was that a threat?! That's hilarious! Centaurs weren't afraid of threats! Hmph! Orell snorted two puffs of white air from his nostrils. "We are neither friends nor enemies! We are just strangers who have met and talked a few times, nothing more!"

Oh? Dylan looked at him out of the corner of his eye. This guy seemed to have gotten a little smarter? Tsk, tsk. Just as he thought, anyone who spent a little time with him could learn a thing or two. Look at Orell. He was so dumb at first, but now he could even say things with a dignified tone. He truly lived up to his name!

He had to say, the magical energy surrounding him was so potent that it was normal for it to affect others.

"Alright. The last time you were hurt, you didn't go straight home. Instead, you kept wandering around and met Luna. I don't think you completely agree with all those old-fashioned centaur ideals, do you? Don't you want to venture into a bigger world?" Dylan was trying to tempt him.

Orell was silent. See? People were like this. After staying in one place for too long, they wanted to go to another. Even if they didn't like the new place, they could always return to their starting point after their journey. But that journey had to be taken. Whether you called it the pursuit of novelty or the desire to explore, humans always had a sense of curiosity. Didn't centaurs also consider themselves humans? Of course, they were no exception.

For a young centaur like Orell, who was still an infant compared to their long lifespan, his mind was not immature like a human child's. He naturally had more profound ambitions.

"I'll be waiting here for you in a month." Dylan waved his hand. He had been out long enough, and he was starting to get a little sleepy. Besides, it wasn't good for a girl like Luna to stay up so late. As for him, if his skin got a little worse, he could just develop a spell or potion to reverse it. But for a girl, if she was naturally beautiful, it was best not to do too much to change that.

"Let's go back and sleep, Luna. You should be sleeping, too." Dylan turned to the golden-haired girl.

Luna nodded. "Since the unicorn isn't really in trouble, I don't think I need to get too involved in this matter."

Orell's eyes widened. "Then you won't come? I mean, what if I convince them to let you visit?"

Luna blinked. "If that happens, I'll come. I haven't explored a centaur settlement before." Maybe she would find something she had been looking for there.

"Really?" Orell smiled. "Then you wait for me here. I think I'll bring back good news."

Dylan noticed Orell's attitude toward Luna was clearly different from his attitude toward him, and he was a little surprised. This Orell's aesthetic seemed to be a little different from other centaurs. Most other centaurs would not find humans attractive. In fact, they would think they were ugly and scary hairless creatures. Luna's golden hair was thick, which, in a way, could be seen as a sign of thick hair. But Luna's skin was still very smooth. By all accounts, centaurs shouldn't be attracted to it.

"Now, go back and convince your family, you little brat. We're going to sleep." Dylan said, glancing at Orell.

"What?! A little brat?!" Orell laughed angrily. "You called me a little brat? I'm twice your age!"

Dylan shrugged. "So what?"

Orell's eyes widened. "So what? You're so arrogant!" He took a deep breath and yelled. "Even if I can't beat you now, I will one day—but I can beat you right now! I'll crush you to pieces! I'll pin you to the ground! No matter how much you struggle…"

Orell gritted his teeth. "Did you think I was a calm stone? I am a turbulent wave! You'll never get out once you fall in!"

Hearing Orell's passionate speech, Dylan and Luna looked at each other and blinked.

"Are you… doing a poetry reading?" Dylan asked, confused.

Luna just blinked at him.

Orell was so angry that he clenched his fists.

Dylan scoffed. "So much drama, but it's all just talk?"

"You! I'm going to now—" Orell raised his fist, about to hit Dylan. But Dylan just raised his wand, and a terrifying amount of magical power instantly gathered at its tip. The strong air pressure created a gust of wind that made Orell's hair go crazy. Even the skin on his face was pulled back.

Orell silently lowered his hand. "I'm going back." With that, he turned and left.

Dylan said from behind him, "Go convince your family. I still hope I can visit you—all proper and civil."

But Orell just walked faster, his four hooves running. When he was completely gone, Dylan shook his head. "Is this guy only twenty years old? He really is a baby compared to the age of centaurs."

Luna pursed her lips. "I wonder if there are any Crumple-Horned Snorkacks in the centaur settlement."

Dylan said, "I don't know. Maybe?"

Luna sighed. "I should have asked him."

Dylan put his wand away. "It's alright. You can ask him next time."

Luna nodded. "You're right."

Dylan turned and walked toward the edge of the Forbidden Forest. "Let's go back now. It's getting late."

Luna yawned slightly. "It's fine. It's the weekend tomorrow, so we can rest and sleep in."

Dylan just nodded. He had a lot of things to do. He wasn't in a hurry, but his body clock was already set. It would be hard to sleep in even if he wanted to. He had already gotten into the habit. Sleeping late was impossible. Even if he went to bed late, he could still get up early!

The two walked side by side out of the dark Forbidden Forest. They didn't encounter any dangerous creatures and it was very quiet.

"I'll head back first," Dylan said, standing outside the castle.

"Okay," Luna said, nodding.

Dylan's body then turned into a shadow and blended into the castle wall, disappearing. As she watched Dylan disappear into the darkness, Luna's eyes lit up with a spark of interest. Dylan… he was truly a mysterious boy. And mystery was something she loved to explore.

With her head down, Luna was lost in thought for a moment before she walked calmly to her own dorm.

When he returned to his dorm, Dylan yawned. He used a spell to clean the mud and snow off himself. He put on his custom-made pajamas and got into bed. The bed was so comfortable. As soon as he lay down, sleepiness instantly hit him. Dylan fell into a deep sleep.

The next morning, Dylan woke up feeling refreshed. He ran into Wood, who was looking for Harry. "Good morning, Dylan." Wood was tiptoeing but looked relieved when he saw Dylan was also awake and greeted him. Dylan nodded at him.

Harry was still asleep. Wood walked up to him and pulled off his blanket. Harry, who was hugging his pillow, woke up with a jolt.

"What, what's wrong?" The warm air on his body was suddenly gone. Harry saw Wood standing by his bed and yanked his blanket back.

"Harry, it's time for practice!" Wood urged.

Harry looked miserable. "I know, but you don't have to just pull off my blanket… it's cold!" What if he wasn't wearing any clothes? It would be so embarrassing in front of his roommates. Wood was so inconsiderate! Harry turned his head and saw Dylan watching him, and he gave a sheepish smile. I knew it! Someone was watching him! If he really hadn't been wearing clothes, he would have been too embarrassed to stay in this dorm.

"Hurry, hurry! Time waits for no one! Get up and get ready. We'll eat and then go to practice!" Wood clearly didn't have the sensibility to guess what Harry was thinking and just kept rushing him.

Harry looked helpless and could only nod. "I know… I'm getting up now…" He reluctantly threw off his blanket, pulled the curtain, put on his clothes, and got out of bed. Harry looked at Dylan. "Hey, Dylan…"

Dylan immediately understood and cast a spell.

Exhaustion Gone!

Harry instantly felt much more energized.

"Thanks." As soon as Harry finished speaking, Wood grabbed his hand and quickly pulled him out.

Dylan watched the two of them walk away, hand in hand, and clicked his tongue. He shook his head slightly, then slowly tidied up and got up. He went to eat as usual and feed Norberta.

A while later, he still hadn't gotten back the most advanced Firebolt that Sirius had sent him. When it was time to do homework again, Harry was writing quickly and complaining to Ron and Dylan.

"You guys won't believe what happened today! Wood is so over the top!"

When Ron heard there was gossip, he immediately put down his pen. "What happened?"

Harry let out a long sigh. "I could have played in the game with the broom Dylan gave me, but Wood keeps saying that the Firebolt someone gave me for Christmas is the most advanced one on the market and is even a bit better than the one Dylan gave me. He wants me to use that one for the game…"
