Chapter 235: t's Time to Get the Ravenclaw Diadem Out

"You're not here again to—"

Professor Flitwick gripped the edge of his desk and stood up, staring at Dylan as if a giant, nocturnal spider had just scuttled into his office.

"I believe tutoring has been suspended for now, hasn't it? Or perhaps it's the notebook you left here? But I had someone bring that to you already."

Seeing Professor Flitwick's strong reaction, a corner of Dylan's mouth twitched.

"Professor, I'm not here for tutoring this time. You know, I don't really need to ask you about normal magical knowledge anymore. I only come to you when I run into the occasional problem, and I always ask if you have time first."

Flitwick breathed a slight sigh of relief when he heard that Dylan wasn't there for a private lesson. In truth, he couldn't be blamed for his overreaction. Dylan's magical ability was already far from low. The only things he could teach him were the years of experience he'd accumulated. As for textbook knowledge, Dylan could simply get that from books.

But now, every time Dylan came to him with a question, he would ask something so obscure and difficult that Flitwick wasn't even 100% sure he understood it himself. If he gave Dylan an answer based on his own understanding, it might not be entirely correct. But if he didn't answer, he would feel useless as a professor. The more times Dylan came, the more Flitwick got that same scalp-tingling feeling he had as a student facing a professor who suddenly asked him a question about a spell he hadn't fully mastered.

"Who's the professor here anyway?!" Flitwick thought, then cleared his throat. "So, what are you here for then?"

"I was wondering if you knew Vera's current address."

"Vera's address?" Flitwick was taken aback. "What's wrong with that girl? What do you need her for? I remember you two exchanged contact information, didn't you?"

Dylan nodded. "We did, but I'm not sure if the address she gave me before is still a good way to reach her."

"What happened?"

"It's Mr. Florin. He wrote to me, asking me to pass along a 'Happy Christmas' to his daughter, Vera."

"Oh, did he have another fight with Vera?" Flitwick clearly knew the situation of his former student.

Dylan nodded. "Something like that. Because the Ministry of Magic has been hunting for Carsus, Vera got hurt in the process."

"And then Mr. Florin said a few things to her, and according to him, Vera got mad at him again."

"I see, sigh..." Flitwick nodded faintly and sighed again.

"I don't know who this 'Carsus' fellow is. I've never heard his name before, and yet he seems to have an extremely high level of control over the Unforgivable Curses." Flitwick's brow was furrowed with worry.

"The Ministry has been chasing him, but he's just vanished into thin air. It's truly impossible to imagine what kind of evil he's doing in secret."

Dylan blinked. "Maybe he's just a regular wizard who happens to have mastered the Unforgivable Curses to the highest level?"

Flitwick took a breath and waved a hand. "My boy, the Unforgivables are not ordinary Dark magic. In fact, even magic far less powerful than the Unforgivables can corrupt an adult wizard's mind, let alone those curses. The entire wizarding world has forbidden these extremely evil spells, and the fact that this Carsus not only learned them but has such a high level of mastery means his mind must be more twisted than Devil's Snare."

Dylan: "...Hmm, I suppose so. I've read many stories about Dark wizards becoming bloodthirsty maniacs who can only kill after using Dark magic."

"Exactly! It's too dangerous, and the fact that he hasn't been caught is a huge hidden danger!" Professor Flitwick sighed once more. "I don't know what's wrong with this term, but there are criminals everywhere trying to escape the Ministry's pursuit."

Dylan shrugged. "It can't be helped. The world will never be peaceful. Thankfully, Hogwarts has all the professors. I'm sure you wouldn't let these heinous criminals harm the students."

Professor Flitwick chuckled. "That's right! They may be dangerous, but are they more dangerous than the Dark Lord? I think that Carsus fellow is probably just someone who wants to take on the name of a new Dark Lord, gather all the Dark Lord's old followers, and create an evil organization for his own amusement!"

Dylan: "How can he describe it so accurately? Professor, are you a Seer too?"

Thinking about his own situation, Dylan realized that what Professor Flitwick said was pretty much exactly right. He didn't intend to use the identity of Carsus to unify the wizarding world. That would be a thankless job. Looking at all the stories, characters like Voldemort, or like the Emperor in Star Wars, could never last long. No matter how strong a creature was, could it be stronger than the world that created it? Of course, if a creature was strong enough to transcend the world, it would just enter an even more powerful world, and the world would still restrict it.

Of course.

"On the other hand," Dylan thought, "it's not impossible for a character like Voldemort to succeed in the end. It's just that these kinds of characters usually run into the most terrifying 'Censor God.' A being capable of destroying an entire world."

For now, Dylan just wanted to focus on his own magic. There was no need to think too much about anything else. He would only use the Carsus identity to gather Voldemort's scattered forces. They could collect resources and wealth for him, helping him to climb higher, or do things that were inconvenient for him to do out in the open. He wouldn't let Voldemort's old followers unify the wizarding world for him. What was the point of doing that anyway? When he could live so comfortably as it was, taking on the responsibility of an emperor would be the most troublesome thing of all.

"If Vera was hurt, I imagine the Ministry would have sent her home to rest for a while. But since she isn't at Mr. Florin's, she must be at her own home."

Dylan nodded. "I'm glad I came, Professor. Could you please give me Vera's home address? She only gave me her location at the Ministry before."

"Of course." Professor Flitwick happened to be holding a quill, and he pulled out a fresh piece of parchment. After writing the address on it, he handed it to Dylan.

"If you're writing to her, please say hello to Vera for me, and be sure to check on how she's recovering," Professor Flitwick said.

Dylan nodded again. "No problem. I'll make sure to put it in the letter."

Professor Flitwick grumbled, "That child, why does she push herself so hard? Even if she's an excellent graduate of Hogwarts, she's no match for that Carsus fellow. She should have let others go up to drain his magic first."

Dylan blinked, surprised that Professor Flitwick would suggest such a cowardly strategy. It seemed he wasn't a completely by-the-book little professor after all.

"Mr. Florin told me Vera was injured by other Death Eaters, and didn't actually encounter Carsus."

"Death Eaters? There are still Death Eaters on the loose?"

"I imagine there will always be a few who slip through the net. But I hear that Death Eater has been caught now."

"Hmm." Professor Flitwick pointed to his big head. "These are troubled times. You should be careful, too. Be especially vigilant and ensure your own safety once you're outside the school grounds."

"Don't worry, Professor. I will." Of course, he would make sure he was safe. But if anyone else came up against him, who would need to be careful was still up for debate.

Taking the address Professor Flitwick gave him, Dylan left the office and headed toward the Gryffindor common room.

"The unicorns in the Forbidden Forest have disappeared again recently. After getting the blood diamond, I wanted to study a unicorn, but now the creatures are nowhere to be found." Dylan thought to himself. "These unicorns are gone every few days, and they're gone for so long. Do they even appreciate that I saved their lives? If I hadn't stepped in, they might not have died, but they would have suffered a lot more."

"Also, I remember the Slytherin's Locket should still be with the Black family, right?" Dylan stroked his chin.

After Voldemort made the locket into a Horcrux, he hid it in a cave on a deserted island, guarded by Inferi and a potion. Regulus Black, upon learning of the locket's existence, took his house-elf Kreacher to the cave. He drank the potion and had Kreacher take the real locket, leaving a fake in its place. In the end, Regulus was dragged into the water by Inferi and presumably became one of the Inferi army himself. At this point, the locket should still be in Kreacher's hands, not stolen by Mundungus Fletcher or taken by Umbridge.

"It's one of the four founders' relics, and it's a Horcrux. If I could get my hands on it..." Dylan felt that he might be able to unlock a new achievement. Plus, he would have another piece of Voldemort's soul. Either way, that was a pretty good deal.

"This Voldemort really knows how to pick his Horcrux vessels. It seems several of them are relics of the founders, right?"

Hufflepuff's Cup, Slytherin's Locket, and Ravenclaw's Diadem. The cup and locket were originally collected by Hepzibah Smith. When Voldemort saw her collection, he killed her and stole them. Not only did he murder her and steal her collectibles, he also used her soul to make a Horcrux.

"It's just inhuman!" Dylan thought. "Tsk, Voldemort is truly a monster. I'll have to make him take a few more Unforgivable Curses tonight."

Other than Slytherin's Locket and Gryffindor's Sword, the relics of the other two founders were in the Room of Requirement and Bellatrix Lestrange's Gringotts vault. The Ravenclaw Diadem was in the Room of Requirement. In fact, Dylan had discovered the Room of Requirement long ago, so he should have been able to get his hands on the diadem early on.

The only reason he hadn't was that the storage room, perhaps because no one had visited it in so long, was incredibly messy and vast. Dylan's need to find Horcruxes wasn't very urgent. He had better things to do than spend time searching for a diadem in a pile of junk. A Horcrux was a Horcrux. The vessel didn't matter. There wasn't much difference between having two Horcruxes and one. If he could get his hands on one, that would be great. It would give him a break from torturing the soul within the one he had, and the soul would have more time to heal. But if he had to go to great lengths to get a Horcrux, he would pass. The founders' relics that Voldemort had already made into Horcruxes probably wouldn't trigger any treasures the founders had set up.

"Maybe I should have called Harry into the Room of Requirement earlier and had him dig through the junk." Dylan clicked his tongue. If the Summoning Charm could affect Horcruxes, he could just summon the diadem, and it would be perfect.

"Never mind. Harry has other things to do recently. I should ask Peeves for help instead." Dylan's eyes darted around. He suddenly had a good idea. He'd known about the Room of Requirement for so long; it was time to retrieve the Ravenclaw Diadem from that pile of junk.

Dylan returned to his dorm. He read for a while, and before curfew, he lay down in bed, ready to get some sleep. What Harry did tonight was none of his business. He had his own things to do.

Late at night, Hogwarts was silent. Dylan slowly opened his eyes in bed. He turned his head and felt that Harry's side seemed a little restless. He raised an eyebrow and silently cast a Muffling Charm on himself. His body instantly transformed into a black shadow. He phased through the wall and flew out of the Gryffindor common room to a secluded corner of the castle. Dylan closed his eyes slightly and released his magic. A faint wisp of magic began to work its way down the wall and extended into the distance.

He didn't have to wait long.

Soon, Dylan felt a ripple in the air above his head. A figure shivered and fell from the ceiling.

"Master Dylan, you summoned me..."
