I couldn't help it as Zane's threw me into loud laughter.
Fine. I've always thought that Simon and my father… maybe they worked together. Maybe they were the ones responsible for my mother's death. But I forced myself to believe it wasn't true.
I can't just bring myself to face a reality like that. A reality that would force me to kill my own father, to ruin everything....the family, the business, the legacy. I know my father is dangerous. Everyone knows that. But he had no reason to kill my mother or my brothers' mothers too, right? If he wanted blood, if he wanted to indulge in murder for the sake of it, he could've killed one of his countless whores instead.
"What are you saying now, Zane?" I demanded, still laughing until I finally broke it off with a shuddering sigh. I scrubbed my eyes roughly and looked at him. "What do you mean by that?"
