Black Zetsu revealed everything he knew to Uchiha Madara—or at least, that's what it appeared to be. Whether the intel was complete or had selective omissions was another matter entirely.
He conveniently left out several of his own behind-the-scenes manipulations. For example, it had been his decision to abandon Uchiha Obito and instead approach Hyuga Gakuya.
He twisted the truth to make it seem like Obito had betrayed Madara in pursuit of becoming the Ten Tails' Jinchūriki and reviving Nohara Rin, when in fact, it had been Black Zetsu pulling the strings from the shadows.
Though now allied with Hyuga Gakuya to continue the Eye of the Moon Plan, Black Zetsu had also been betrayed—Gakuya had forsaken the plan for the sake of two women.
So, Black Zetsu subtly manipulated Kabuto, steering him to locate both Uchiha Obito and Uchiha Sasuke to carry the plan forward.
What he didn't mention was that Gakuya was still secretly working with him even now.
Black Zetsu wanted to exploit the gap in Madara's knowledge—newly resurrected, Madara was unaware of recent events. Zetsu hoped to hedge his bets by playing both sides.
Madara, for his part, suspected nothing. He still believed Black Zetsu to be a being he had created—an extension of his own will.
It never even crossed his mind to question whether Zetsu might lie.
"The Tenseigan... Ninjutsu that can steal bloodlines... a Shinobi World Federation... how fascinating. That Hyuga Gakuya might just be worthy of being my opponent," Madara said, his usual commanding presence slowly returning.
"But in the end, his so-called Federation has failed. The Eye of the Moon Plan is still the only true path for the shinobi world."
Black Zetsu smiled. "Exactly, my lord. Everything remains under our control. Uchiha Sasuke and Uchiha Obito may be of limited value, but they can still help us gather the Tailed Beasts. All we need to do is wait for the right moment."
"When the time comes, I'll use one of them to bring you back and help you reclaim your Rinnegan."
A rare smile flickered across Madara's lips. "Well done."
Together, the two began crafting a new plan. From their perspective, everything was proceeding smoothly. Once Madara became the Ten Tails' Jinchūriki, killing Hyuga Gakuya would be child's play.
...
Meanwhile, back at the battlefield where Gakuya had just clashed with Madara, a small white snake slithered into the ground, tongue flicking.
Not long after, in a temporary laboratory inside the Allied Shinobi Forces' command post, Orochimaru was hard at work. From the start of the war, he'd been stationed here with a specific mission: to develop a sealing tag capable of severing the connection between reanimated shinobi and their summoners.
Feigning reluctance, Orochimaru negotiated for his freedom once the war ended. Pressured by the situation, the Federation reluctantly agreed.
He was kept under close watch, with only a handful of shinobi assigned to guard him and transport the tags he created.
And so, he quietly pursued his own goal—creating those tags for the Alliance.
But just as Gakuya had suspected, Orochimaru had tampered with them. He was merely waiting for the right moment to seize control of the Edo Tensei shinobi.
With their power, he planned to steal both the Rinnegan and the Tenseigan... and become the Ten Tails' Jinchūriki.
At least, that was the plan he envisioned.
A small white snake emerged from the ground and merged with Orochimaru's body, relaying everything it had seen.
Orochimaru closed his eyes, savoring the images now playing in his mind.
"The Tenseigan and the Rinnegan... such incredible power," he murmured.
Just then, a shinobi burst into the lab.
"Orochimaru! Where are the new sealing tags?"
He already knew what the man had come for. Calmly, he pointed to two tags lying beside him.
The shinobi snatched them up and bolted out the door.
As Orochimaru watched the man's retreating figure, a thin smile spread across his lips.
...
At that moment, Hyuga Gakuya led the Allied Shinobi Forces to the northern front, where a sandstorm raged across the battlefield. Gaara and Rasa were locked in a fierce fight with the reanimated Nagato.
With a colossal meteor descending from the sky—summoned by Nagato's Deva Path—Gaara and Rasa were forced to go all-out, fending off the overwhelming aerial threat.
The meteor, formed by Chibaku Tensei, loomed ominously above them, inching downward with a crushing inevitability.
Just in time, Gaara reacted. He summoned a dense wall of sand, barely managing to halt the meteor's fall. But doing so left him trapped and immobile.
He knew better than anyone that he couldn't afford to falter—not even for a second. One misstep, and the Allied Shinobi Forces—already battered by relentless battle—would fall into total chaos.
Clenching his teeth, Gaara strained with every fiber of his being, slowly pushing the meteor away from the battlefield.
All around him, rank-and-file shinobi ran for their lives in the opposite direction, desperate to escape the looming catastrophe.
Above them, Nagato hovered atop his summoned Giant Drill-Beaked Bird, launching a barrage of missiles at Gaara.
Rasa moved swiftly, positioning himself between his son and the assault. It was an effort not just to protect Gaara—but to make up for a lifetime of absent fatherhood.
He had already reconciled with Gaara during the Pain invasion of Konoha, acknowledging his past failures.
Now, he was determined to make things right.
With streams of gold dust, he shielded Gaara while simultaneously sending a multitude of sand hands clawing upward toward Nagato.
Seeing the dire situation unfold, Hyuga Gakuya narrowed his eyes. In an instant, he unleashed a torrent of chakra and vanished from sight.
He reappeared at Gaara's side, releasing a powerful repulsive force—an Almighty Push that caught the meteor mid-air and held it in place.
"Go help the others! Leave this to me!" Gakuya shouted.
The shinobi forces heard the command and immediately turned to face a new wave of White Zetsu soldiers.
Ōnoki also stepped forward to join the assault against Nagato.
Though reanimated and beyond his own control, Nagato still fought fiercely, holding his own against the four-man assault.
But when he saw Hyuga Gakuya, something like relief flickered in his eyes.
"So it's you, Hyuga Gakuya... I see you've made the same choice I did after all. Funny, I thought you might've been the one behind this war."
No... he wasn't wrong. Gakuya was the one who started it all.
Gripping the meteor, Gakuya slowly floated it toward an uninhabited area.
"Yeah," he said softly, "maybe it's time we gave this world another chance. Maybe... they'll surprise us."
"I'm glad," Nagato said with a faint smile. "I'm glad you chose the same path I did."
But his smile froze a moment later.
His mechanical arm suddenly morphed, transforming into a large cannon barrel.
Nagato's voice grew urgent.
"I'm sorry—I can't control my body anymore! The one behind me... they're forcing me to destroy the meteor!"
It was already too late.
A concentrated chakra beam blasted from Nagato's arm, piercing the meteor Gakuya held.
The massive rock exploded like fireworks, sending countless shards of stone hurtling in every direction.
Down below, the Allied Shinobi Forces were directly in the path.
"Watch out!" Gakuya roared.
