The briefing started for the exams. Shigure half-listened to it while stretching.
'I wonder if the age 14 requirement is due to my existence or whether it's due to this world being more technologically advanced.' Shigure had made several changes in this world, and the major ones would definitely be the contributions he had made to the tech field.
The exam was quite simple. 2 phases. In the first phase, they would be given a number plate, which they had to keep with them until the exam ended, which was one hour. This means that even people who had gotten their number plate stolen could eliminate the other people.
The second phase was not disclosed.
"Which number did you get?" Momo asked.
"69" Shigure showed her number plate. "You?"
She showed her the number plate. "Wait, you got 69 too?" Shigure furrowed his eyebrows.
Momo inverted her number plate. "Oh, 96." He muttered after seeing that it was not another 69.
"It seems we are fated." Momo joked. 'Inverting either 69 or 96 will give the same number. Is he high?'
"Stop yapping. Don't get eliminated. If you did, you are going to be teased straight for the next year. Technically, several years." Shigure threatened.
"I think you should worry more about yourself. You have more chances to lose compared to me, given that you are not allowed to bring your fuel."
Shigure's mood instantly dropped when he remembered that. "Yeah, I will try." 'They allowed other support items in people's hero costumes, but in name of doping or some shit, they are preventing me from bringing my energy source." He sighed.
Looking around, most of the participants were people in the last year of high school or some in the second year.
Though Shigure could also identify some people without a hero costume like him. 'Guess, not everyone is rich. Though it's weird given they need a hero or a hero school's recommendation to take these exams.'
Both Momo and Shigure had to go to different dropping zones for the exams. 'Guess, no teaming up. All my dreams of getting carried by her are shattered.' Shigure clicked his tongue in disappointment.
"Begin." Most of the participants ran in different directions. There was a 10-second rule with no attack policy to prevent a fight in a crowded area.
Shigure calmly walked. 'I need to preserve my energy.' He looked around and found out that 5 other people were also calmly walking like him.
"Tch." He sighed and took out his staff.
7,8,9,10 WHOOSH
Multiple wind blades came at him from his left side. A fireball from his right. He found the vibrations through the ground.
The hair on his body stood up, lightning coalescing behind him.
Not only that, he found something moving inside his body.
"How troublesome," Shigure muttered before kicking the ground. With the help of his quirk, he was able to move before he got pierced by the Earth lance, which missed him barely.
He turned around and rushed at the person who was standing there with his hands outstretched.
'He is the most dangerous one.' His capture weapon elongated and pulled the guy towards him, before hitting the right place—directly knocking him out.
While Speed Up was still on, he threw his staff at the man who was coalescing lightning in his hands.
'Speed up or not, the speed of lightning is too much. He just need a thought to hit me instantly.' Due to the staff being in Shigure's domain, and the man not being in it, he didn't get a chance to react and released the electricity in all directions.
'Fuck.' Shigure found his limbs twitching before losing control of them. He was almost on the verge of using Reversal, but luckily, he gained control in three minutes, which was around 5 seconds for others.
In that time, the other three were already on the ground, twitching. Shigure had already dodged their attacks when he had gone for the first victim.
The guy who had discharged electricity was shot in the face with the staff, so he was disoriented for those 5 seconds.
Shigure looked at the electricity guy in the eye. The guy stared back.
Shigure moved. The guy released electricity in all directions.
At least, tried to. "It's pointless." He got trapped by Shigure's capture weapon, which blocked the electricity.
"It's insulated." That was the last thing the guy heard before getting knocked out.
Shigure poked his body with his staff. 'Safe.' He retracted his capture weapon along with the man's number plate from the latter's chest through his capture weapon.
Everyone was supposed to wear their number plate on the upper part of their body.
Similarly, Shigure looted the other four.
"Got you." When he went for the guy who had messed with the Earth, multiple Earth lances tried to attack him from all sides.
"Pointless." 'Speed up 10x' He quickly dealt with all those lances with his staff and quickly knocked out that guy.
'These guys were quite impressive. Their coordination was impressive. When they become pros, they would be called something like elementals or something.' Shigure joked.
All 5 of them had one elemental kind of ability— fire, water, lightning, wind and earth.
Shigure panted for breath. '15 per cent of my energy reserves are already gone. So troublesome. Luckily, I took care of the water guy first. That guy is a villain-material, seeing how he could control water inside people's bodies. It's a shame that he is trying to become a hero.' Shigure clicked his tongue.
"Huh?" Shigure looked at his side and found a hand touching his limb.
"Got you." The blonde man in a tuxedo smirked before jumping back.
"What an amazing quirk. It's a shame that you are going to be defeated despite having such a quirk." The 14-year old said in a cocky voice, expanding his domain and using 'Slow Down' on Shigure.
'Monoma. So, it was he who was camping there... This is a fortunate encounter. I needed somebody with a quirk like his to experiment.' Shigure grinned.
Monoma activated the speed-enhancement quirk he had stolen from a person and used it with Shigure's quirk.
He disappeared and appeared in front of Shigure, punching the latter.
"Uhh... This is disappointing." Shigure side-stepped, dodging it.
"The fuck?" Monoma cursed.
"How much boost are you using? I can't get a good idea due to that speed-enchancer of yours?" Shigure tilted his head, his scarf wrapping itself around Monoma's hands before yanking it downwards.
"5x." The boy replied, twisting his body and did an uppercut punch. Shigure deflected it.
"Is that the max you could do? What about energy consumption?"
Both of them understood the situation and were surprised that the other party was calm.
"Yeah. The energy consumption is ridiculous. Why is it different for me?"
Shigure slammed Monoma on the ground, wrapping the latter's legs with his capture weapon, effectively immobilising him.
"Probably 'coz my body mutated to handle the energy consumption I directly operate on. Your body has also mutated for such cases, but clearly not enough for specific quirks like mine. Can you only speed up things in your domain?"
"Is that so?" He then made a confused expression. "What do you mean by speeding up? Isn't that all your quirk could do? I got knowledge about that only when I copied it. Wait, could it do something else?"
"Nah. I was just testing you." Shigure lied. 'It's as I suspected, it seems I wasn't disillusioned. My connection with my quirk is really extraordinary. Though looking at it from hindsight, I have had the quirk for a long time. This outcome should have been inevitable.' Shigure confirmed what he wanted to.
"I see. Anyway, this doesn't mean—" Shigure knocked out Monoma. He had felt his bullshit detector flaring.
'Reversal.' He used reversal on Monoma, and as expected, felt the quirk copy from Monoma's body disappearing.
'He would probably wake up after 10 minutes, so he shouldn't know about Reversal. Sweet.' Shigure took the number plate from Monoma and left the entrance.
'I lost nearly 20 per cent of my energy reserves already. Guess, I need to sneak around.' After making this decision, Shigure decided to hide on the ground floor of a building he could see in his vision.
Looking at the watch, 55 minutes were remaining.
'Is that Lida and Juzo? Damn.' On his way, he saw a battle between two Canon characters. Well, saying it's a battle would be wrong. It was a one-sided massacre. In a few seconds, Juzo softened the ground and trapped Lida, effectively trapping him before taking the former's number plate and disappearing into the ground.
Lida ran in a direction, chasing after him.
'Juzo was a recommended student, so it makes sense, and Lida probably got recommended by his brother. Oh well, I think it's still too early for Lida to compete here.' Shigure quickly analysed both the duo.
After 10 minutes, Shigure was hiding in one room, near the window.
"Did you hear? 3 monsters are fighting in the middle. All of them are kids. Jeez, where are such monstrous kids coming from? Why did they have to come in our exams?" A man outside the window cursed.
"I know, right? We are just unlucky. Guess we can only hide. How about in this room?" He jumped into the room and then soon found out that they were indeed unlucky.

A/n- Guys, what do you think about fights between MC and OC characters, like the 5 guys in the beginning? Do they tend to be boring?
I also rarely use names for OC's, as in this case, they would be making an appearance once only. Should I name them in the future?
