Alex and Charlotte stood side by side, watching as Rick's legs flailed from beneath a collapsing mountain of scrolls.
The old man had been buried waist-deep in ancient parchment, muttering to himself as he searched feverishly for something.
Alex crossed his arms, clearly irritated.
"Master, can't we just ask Miss Selena instead? What are you even wasting so much time on?"
Rick's voice echoed from under the pile, laced with offense.
"You brat! Don't you have an ounce of trust in your master?! When I say I can handle something, I can handle it! Just sit back and watch."
Alex rolled his eyes.
"Alright, alright. Do what you want, old man."
Charlotte laughed softly beside him, covering her mouth with her hand as she watched Alex grumble like a scolded child.
Suddenly, a loud shout came from beneath the mountain.
"There it is! That's the one I was looking for!"
