A bigger shock hit Alden and Ethan. Their expressions froze completely, eyes wide, mouths slightly agape.
Alex started laughing. "You guys should see your faces right now."
As Alex laughed, Ethan said in a loud voice, "You must be joking, right?"
Alden nodded vigorously. "He must be. How can that be possible?"
Alex shook his head. "I wish I was, but that's the thing. I'm not."
"You see, when I turned back time on such a massive scale… it has repercussions that I didn't think about."
"And now I'm in this mess. The will of the universe—or something—doesn't take lightly to those who mess with the natural course of events."
"So now here we are. Now I'm gonna pay the price for breaking the natural laws."
Alden and Ethan looked at each other.
Alden asked urgently, "There must be a way to get out of it, right?"
Alden and Ethan's expressions became sad.
