Chapter 117 - Chapter 117: The Meaning of a Zatarian

The episode begins with the backstory of Wish, Solaris, and Shakiro in Zataria at the age of sixteen. It depicts the three brothers racing around Ongei's house, playing tag, with Solaris as the tagger.

Solaris: You can't run away from me forever!

Naburo observes from the sidelines, impressed.

Naburo: Wow, you guys are so fast I can't keep up!

After a few seconds of running, Ongei steps outside and calls to the children.

Ongei: (angry) BOYS!

As Wish and Shakiro become distracted by their mother, Wish fails to notice what is in front of him and runs into a tree, bumping his head and falling to the ground.

Wish: (holding his head) Oww!

Solaris: (laughing) Now you're it.

Solaris places his hand on Wish's shoulder, but Wish brushes it off and stands up, visibly upset.

Wish: That doesn't count!

Solaris: (defensive) What!? Of course it counts!

Shakiro: (approaching them) Technically, it does.

Wish: (glaring at Shakiro) Shut up!

Ongei: Boys! It's time for school!

The three brothers turn to see Ongei approaching with her arms crossed.

Ongei: (upset) What do you think you boys are doing?

Solaris: Uhhhh, playing tag?

Ongei: Playing tag!? Have you boys forgotten what day it is?

Shakiro: It's our first day of school.

Ongei: Exactly. I can't have you messing around.

Wish: I just don't see the point of this.

Ongei: The point of going to school is to learn about yourselves and the responsibilities of being a Zatarian. Trust me, I felt the same way at your age, but this is important.

Wish: I guess so.

Ongei: (smiling) Alright. Now hurry up and get to school. If I hear any complaints, I won't make your favorite meal.

The brothers gasp in shock and quickly prepare to leave for school.

Solaris: You've got to be crazy if I'm missing out on that!

Wish: You don't have to tell me twice!

Just then, Naburo approaches them.

Naburo: You guys are going to school?

Shakiro: Yeah, we have to.

Naburo: Do you think I could come?

Ongei: I would love for you to join them, but you can't. It's a Zatarian school only.

Naburo: (head down) Oh, that kind of sucks…

Wish: Don't worry. When we get back, we can continue our game.

Naburo: (head up) Really?

Wish: For sure! You can be the tagger and catch the slowpoke Solaris.

Solaris: (Annoyed smile) Oh, I'm slow!? Okay, buddy, we'll see about that!

Wish, Shakiro, and Naburo start laughing.

Shakiro: Alright, we're off to school then, Mom.

Ongei: Have a great time, boys!

Ongei walks closer and hugs all three of her sons, except for Naburo.

Shakiro: We will. See you when we get back.

The brothers start walking away from Ongei and Naburo, waving back as they go.

Naburo: (Yelling) Don't take too long!

A few minutes pass as the brothers walk toward the school, passing other Zatarians along the way.

Wish: So, do you think this school will be interesting?

Solaris: I don't know, but if there's fighting involved, I'm in!

Shakiro: Fighting? Really? We're going to school to learn about ourselves, not just to fight. Let's think more wisely here.

Solaris: (Mocking Shakiro) "Let's think more wisely here." Why do you always act like that?

Shakiro: Act like what?

Solaris: Like you're better than us. Always trying to sound smart, always acting like the leader; it's as if you're trying to be the main character.

Shakiro: I'm really not. I don't claim to be better than you guys.

Wish: I don't know, man, you do act like that.

Shakiro: (Shaking his head) If that's how you guys think, then feel free.

The scene shifts to Naburo outside of Ongei's house, walking around bored.

Naburo: I'm so bored! There's nothing to do.

As Naburo continues walking, an idea strikes him.

Naburo: You know what? I'm going to spy on them at school!

Naburo starts running in the direction where the brothers went, leaving Ongei behind. The scene then returns to the brothers as they arrive at the large school, where other Zatarian teens are talking among themselves.

Wish: This school is pretty big.

Solaris: (Smiling) And strong ones at that!

Shakiro: In any case, we should head inside and take a look around.

Solaris: See, there you go again, acting like a leader.

As Wish surveys the area, he spots a girl sitting alone, looking very attractive.

Wish: (Pointing) Yo, guys, check out that girl over there.

Shakiro and Solaris both turn to where Wish is pointing.

Shakiro: What? The girl sitting alone?

Wish: Yeah! You can't tell me she doesn't look hot.

Solaris: She does. Are you going to make a move?

Wish: (Smiling) Of course! Just stand back and watch the masterpiece at work.

As Wish approaches the girl, a group of Zatarian boys steps in front of him, and one of them accidentally collides with him.

Wish: What the?

Zatarian Boy 1: (Smiling) Watch where you're going, dawg.

Zatarian Boy 2: Yeah, bro, you need to get your eyes checked.

Wish: (Laughing) I need to watch where I'm going? Nah, it's the other way around.

Shakiro and Solaris observe Wish interacting with the Zatarians and sense impending trouble.

Shakiro: (Sighing) I can already smell a fight brewing.

Solaris: (Smiling) Perfect! Let's go introduce ourselves!

Both Solaris and Shakiro move toward Wish.

Zatarian Boy 1: (Laughing) Do you think you're tough or something?

Wish: That's for you to decide.

Zatarian Boy 3: Yo, we need to take this guy down.

Solaris: Did someone say "take down"?

The Zatarians and Wish turn to see Solaris and Shakiro beside him.

Zatarian Boy 1: And who are these guys, your homeboys?

Solaris: No, we're brothers, and I'm here to whoop your ass.

The Zatarians assess Solaris, noting that he is larger and more muscular than all of them.

Zatarian Boy 2: Look at this big guy talking. You really think you can take us?

Solaris: I don't think; I know I can.

Shakiro: Okay, let's just calm down. I apologize for my brother bumping into you. Now, if you'll excuse us, we have somewhere to be.

As Shakiro attempts to walk past, one of the boys places a hand on his chest, blocking his path.

Zatarian Boy 1: No, no, no. You're not going anywhere until you learn your lesson.

Shakiro's annoyance escalates, and his eyes glow blue.

Shakiro: Don't piss me off. Move out of our way now.

Zatarian Boy 1: (Eyes glowing green) Or else what?

???: Or else I'm going to stop it.

Everyone turns to the side and sees another Zatarian boy approaching with his hands in his pockets. He has black hair styled in twists and possesses an attractive demeanor, causing the Zatarian girls to blush.

Wish: (Confused) What in the...?

Zatarian Boy 1: And who the hell are you?

???: Does that really matter? Why don't you just leave?

He positions himself in front of the Zatarian boy, locking eyes with him, a serious expression on his face.

Zatarian Boy 1: Aren't you a little too close? Do you want to get your teeth punched in?

???: I won't say it again. Leave.

Zatarian Boy 1: Nah, I don't think I'm going to le—

The boy is interrupted by a swift punch to the stomach.

Zatarian Boy 1: (Grunts) Agh!

The newcomer follows up by grabbing his head and slamming it to the ground, creating a shockwave and a cloud of dust.

Solaris: (Covering his face) Damn!

As the dust settles, they see the boy's head buried deep in the ground, bleeding, while the other Zatarian's eyes glow orange as he continues to hold him down.

???: Are you finished, or do you want more?

Zatarian Boy 2: Holy shit.

The Zatarian on the ground becomes enraged and pushes the other boy's hand off, quickly regaining his footing. His head stops bleeding, showcasing rapid recovery.

Zatarian Boy 1: (Angrily) Let's get out of here.

Zatarian Boy 3: But why don't we—

Zatarian Boy 1: I SAID LET'S GET OUT OF HERE!

The boy turns and walks away, followed by the others.

???: (Eyes returning to normal) They shouldn't bother you for now.

Solaris: (Frustrated) Come on! You should have kept fighting!

Shakiro: Well, thank you for handling that for us.

Wish: That was pretty cool! What's your name? I'm Wish, and these are my brothers, Solaris and Shakiro.

Lardack: Nice to meet you. You can call me Lardack.

Wish: Lardack. That's a cool name! Is this your first time at school?

Lardack: No, I've been here for over a year.

Solaris: Oh, wow. Do you enjoy it?

Suddenly, a loud horn sounded from the school, capturing everyone's attention.

Solaris: (Confused) What is that?

Lardack: That's the horn signaling that school is about to begin.

They looked around and saw other Zatarian students heading toward the courtyard in front of the school.

Lardack: Just follow the crowd. I'll catch up with you guys later.

Lardack walked away, joining the throng.

Shakiro: I suppose we should join in. Let's go.

Shakiro started toward the school.

Solaris: You see, Wish? Always acting like the leader.

Wish: (Laughing) I know, Solaris, I know.

Solaris and Wish caught up to Shakiro as they approached the courtyard, where everyone had gathered in a large group, waiting for someone to appear.

Wish: So, what do we do now?

Shakiro: Not sure. It looks like we're waiting for something or someone.

???: Silence!

The brothers and the crowd ceased their conversations and turned toward the front of the school, where an older Zatarian man approached the balcony, accompanied by two others.

Solaris: (Surprised) Who is that?

Wish: I don't know, but he looks intimidating.

Rayma: Welcome back to Zaribia. For the new students, my name is Rayma, and I will be your instructor for this program. In Zaribia, we will teach you the ways of being a Zatarian. We are divine warriors endowed with a unique power that defines our identity. As some of you may know, our light power is referred to as "Idolon," derived from our special moon, also called "Endura."

Everyone, including the brothers, gazed upward at the moon, which illuminated the sky in multiple colors.

Rayma: Being a Zatarian is not only about strength and power; it involves forging your own path and discovering your true self. Understand this: you are the next generation—not merely warriors, but also the protectors of Zataria. Although we Zatarians can live for thousands of years, we are not impervious to invasion. To guard against that, you will undergo one of the toughest training courses ever designed for Zatarians. Remember, this is not just an ordinary school; it is also a school of survival. As we begin our first day, you will undertake an evaluation test to assess your current capabilities. However, before we begin the test, we will conduct a tour of the school for the newcomers.

As he spoke, the two Zatarian assistants beside Rayma leaped from the balcony and landed in front of the Zatarian students, prepared to provide instructions.

Zatarian Assistant: Please follow us as we begin the tour.

All the students, including the brothers, started following the assistants into the expansive school.

Solaris: (Excited) You know, maybe this school won't be so bad after all.

Wish: You're only saying that because you heard the word "survival."

Solaris: Huh!? That's not true!

Shakiro: Regardless, we need to pay attention.

Solaris: Yeah, yeah. Just give me something to fight, and I'll focus.

After a few moments, they entered the vast school. As they followed the assistants, they explored every area, including the lounge, cafeteria, restrooms, study rooms, and more. The scene transitions to Naburo as he finally arrives at the school.

Naburo: (Wiping his forehead) Finally, I'm here. I didn't realize the school would be this far away.

Naburo proceeds to the courtyard, where other Zatarian students are gathered, having opted to skip the tour.

Zatarian Girl 4: Pff, good thing I skipped that lame tour.

Zatarian Boy 5: Right. We're not the new students anymore, so why bother?

Naburo scans the area for Wish, Solaris, and Shakiro but cannot locate them.

Naburo: Where are they? I could have sworn this was the right place.

Naburo notices two Zatarians engaged in conversation and approaches them for assistance.

Naburo: (Smiling) Hey there! Can you help me with something?

Zatarian Girl 4: What do you want? Does it look like we want to be bothered right now?

Naburo: P-probably not, but I just need to ask a question.

Zatarian Boy 5: Then hurry it up!

Naburo: (Nervously) Alright. I'm looking for three Zatarians named Wish, Solaris, and Shakiro. Do you know where they might be?

Zatarian Boy 5: Nah, we don't know who those kids are. They must be new since we've never heard of them.

The other Zatarian girl scrutinizes Naburo, noticing an unusual symbol on his forehead.

Zatarian Girl 4: What kind of symbol is that on your forehead? That isn't a Zatarian symbol.

The other Zatarian peers closer.

Zatarian Boy 5: You're right. Who are you?

Naburo: Oh, me? I'm a Nitharian.

Both Zatarians react with surprise.

Zatarian Girl 4: Nitharian?

Zatarian Boy 5: Aren't you from Nitharis? What brings you here?

Naburo: I just came to visit.

Zatarian Boy 5: Either way, you're not supposed to be here. This is a Zatarian school only.

Naburo: Oh, I see.

Zatarian Girl 4: So get out of here and leave us alone.

Naburo: (Upset) Okay then. Thanks anyway.

Naburo walks away and exits the courtyard.

Naburo: Damn! There's got to be a way to find them without getting in trouble. (Thinking) Oh wait, I'm so stupid! I can do this!

Naburo utilizes his mist powers to generate a cloud of mist in front of him. He leaps onto it and ascends high above the school.

Naburo: (Smiling) Now, where are you guys?

As Naburo searches for them, the scene shifts to the rear of the school where Zatarian students are taking their evaluation tests to assess their strength, speed, endurance, and more. After five minutes, all the students finish and regroup, awaiting further instructions.

Wish: (Stretching his arms) Man, those courses made my arms sore.

Solaris: (Laughing) I don't feel a thing! This is great!

Wish: Easy for you to say.

Rayma walks in front of all the students.

Rayma: That concludes the evaluation test. Some of you performed exceptionally well, while others did not meet expectations. Next, we will move on to sparring.

The students cheer excitedly, including Solaris.

Solaris: Now you're speaking my language old man! Let me go first!

Shakiro: (Shaking his head) You're something else…

Rayma scans the crowd to select the first match.

Rayma: Hmm, let's have you (points at Lardack) and you (points at Shakiro).

Wish looks surprised, while Solaris appears disappointed.

Wish: Wow. You're going up against Lardack, and we just met him not too long ago.

Solaris: That should have been me!

Shakiro: (Smiling) Well, that sucks for you.

Shakiro and Lardack step forward to the fighting platform, facing each other from opposite sides.

Lardack: So we meet again.

Shakiro: Indeed we do.

Rayma steps onto the platform, positioning himself between them.

Rayma: The rules are straightforward: knock your opponent down until they can no longer fight or choose to withdraw. You may use your powers as you see fit. Additionally, there is weaponry on the racks behind you if you prefer not to fight unarmed.

Lardack turns and approaches the rack, selecting a greatsword.

Shakiro: (To himself) Maybe I should do the same.

Shakiro turns, walks to the rack, and picks up a spear.

Wish: Wow. I never would have thought he'd use a spear.

Solaris: That's something new.

Shakiro and Lardack face each other once more, preparing to fight. After a few seconds, the scene shifts to Naburo on his cloud, flying behind the school and observing the students.

Naburo: There they are. But where are Shakiro, Wish, and Solaris?

Naburo continues searching until he spots Shakiro on the fighting platform, facing Lardack.

Naburo: (Happily) Shakiro!
